And the two "techniques" were really central to each player's performance, it seemed.

I didn't play 2012, but I was puzzled they removed them.
What's the difference between body balance and agility?

One thing I'd like to see is more fouls called on follow-throughs when shooting. They are hardly ever called.

Found these on pesstats.

Body Balance essentially is a player's strength. Players with high Body Balance are more able to knock the opposition off the ball and to withstand tackles and other physical confrontations. A defender with high Body Balance would be more adept at using brute force to deal with the oppositions' attacks, and to overpower them and win the ball in that manner. Likewise, an offensive player with high Body Balance would be much more difficult to knock off the ball and more resilient in physical confrontations.

Agility determines how fast a player is at moving his body. A player with high Agility is more adept at making movements, such as turns, quickly. Agility is not, however, how well they move or how intelligent/skilled their movements are. Agility is related solely to the speed of their movements.

When I heard they removed that rating in 2012, all the complaints about the "broken shooting" in 2012 made complete sense to me. It's the main reason I never bought that game.
Right, now I remember. You see, many of them are still there. Technique is now ball control, aggression which was the likelihood of a player making a forward/attacking run was replaced by the attack/defense awareness ratio, agility was combined with acceleration as one stat and is now explosive power (equivalent to quickness in other sports games). Shot technique was eliminated so that shooting was more direct by all footballers like in real life.

Remember that this game is Japanese, and they have a very different conception and interpretation of sports games, and when it comes to naming stats or attributes it can get tricky and many times aren't within the confines of traditional sports gaming...so some terms are not what they are in other Football or sports games.

CPU Goal. I like how two players missed it before the finish

Wish I meant to do this but it was purley accidental

Great explanation, thanks. The reason I specifically mentioned shot technique is because it's the one rating I feel that needs to be brought back. There doesn't seem to be anything in the game anymore that differentiates a player who can get off a good shot while off-balance, versus a player who doesn't have the skill to do the same. That's always been a defining aspect of this series and now it's not there. I think that's why the manual shooting in the demo feels so vanilla and uber-easy to me. There's no real sense one has to work to position the shooter properly before shooting.

Looked good! And never tell people it was an accident -- this is the internet, you don't have to tell the truth.

I found my own "fix" to tone down the CPU attack with an editing trick I use in FIFA 12. Using barcafan's roster editor, I pulled the CPU formation back as far as it would go, then changed players' registered positions to mostly all defensive (RB, CB, LB and DB). Attack mentality seems to be tied to position, to a degree anyway. The greater the number of CPU defensive players on the pitch, the more defensively the CPU team plays.

It also causes the CPU to pull more men back when attacked, flooding the CPU's box with extra defenders. Much tougher to get a shot off. And more realistic IMO as the rest of the players aren't just standing around 30 yards up the pitch watching their teammates defend, they're back helping out.

That's what it looks like when I watch it so it must be true.
See how that works? That's the magic of the internet, heh.

Finally home again after two months so I get to fully test out this PES Demo, looking forward to it.

This game seems harder on the PS3 than the PC but maybe the demo unlocks and mods make it seem like that because I was terrible while playing on the console lol. When I played at a friends house a week ago I didn't notice how terrible I was because we were both playing against each other but anyways so far so good.

I can't quite put a finger on what makes the demo so good because it is subtle but noticeable especially on the PC while having access to at least 50 teams and extended play time. So far I am seeing a lot of varied fouls being called and I am in love with the new defending as it has a risk/reward thing going for it. The animations are pretty good to me as well , watching Robben trying to cut inside and shoot and seeing players like Ozil and Silva move on the ball is pretty fabulous.

The only thing that is worrying me in the demo is the possession battles, they seem little off as I can dominate in that regard. It may be a premature statement as I didn't play much matches but I can say when playing a Madrid (me) vs. Man City (cpu) match I noticed Silva holding up play a little bit and even stopping waiting for his teammates to get forward. I guess I need to mess with tactics to get the results I want but I love this game so far.

The more I play the more I will report about what I see on the gameplay and tactics as I plan on using this weekend to break open the game and see what can be accomplished by tweaking stats and formations.

PC version, player cam locked, on-field view pulled back using MxSoNiC's cam mod. Might just be the best sports video game experience I've ever had. Love this game.

FYI, use barcafan's editor to make and save changes to the formations. That way you can test your edits out without having to edit things every time you start the game up. Just copy and save the default dt04.img file before you start.

Yeah I checked out his editor I have been trying to find out which teams are what in the files since I am using Jenkey's patch, which patch are you using Yeats?

His editor defaults to the dt04.img file when you hit Open. I just assume it's the same file no matter which patch you're using...? I'm using yair's patch, sonic's camera modder and cabry's demo unlocker. I don't install extra teams, balls, etc. as I'm happy to wait for the full game.

I seriously can't stop playing the demo

I tried to go back and play Fifa 12 and I can't do it

I just hope not much changes in Demo 2.

Oh ok, I have been editing some stuff like ratings and formations but I see no change when I load up the demo. When I open up the file outside of the demo all of the changes are there its weird. I would ask on evoweb but it is almost near impossible to get some direct help on that site.

You're using jenkey's add-teams patch I assume. Does it add more .img zips to your demo folder? If so, the files you want have to be in one of those new zip files I would guess.

EDIT: I just unzipped one of jenkey's files. It contains several zips: ex0b, ex0c. etc. Those go in your demo folder obviously, have you used the editor to try and open/search those zips for team files?

Another thing: Are you hitting "Apply" after making your formation edits, before saving the file? I didn't do that the first couple of times I used the editor (didn't see the Apply button), and my edits never showed up in-game as a result.

# 240 Yeats @ 08/05/12 02:43 PM
Royce, I installed jenkey's first team unlocker patch (4 new teams). It doesn't add any .img files, so the game has to be accessing the team files in the dt04.img file. I edited two of the new teams, looked in-game and the edits weren't visible. Re-opened the dt04.img file and the edits I made were visible and still there. So it appears that somehow and for who knows what reason, jenkey's patch is messing with the editor's ability to function as it does with the 4 default teams. That's my guess.
