The Dennis Bergkamp flick is in the game (not mine):

Can someone who has played the demos answer some questions that I have?

1) Do refs call fouls and are there enough fouls by the CPU?

2) Do the CPU players chase the player from behind and the dribbling human player "staggers around" and then loses the ball?
In PES2012, CPU players would run really fast behind a dribbling player and cause the dribbler to stagger around like drunk and then lose the ball.

3) Can through-balls be played in more often than in PES2012?
Through-balls were good in PES2011 but pretty much got removed in 2012.

4) Does the ball "auto track" to a particular player?
Players on my team would ignore a ball, even if the player is closer, if the ball was pre-determined to go to a certain player.

5) Does my human player decide to run after an out-of-bounds ball or try to chase after a ball that is half the field away?
So annoying in 2012 when my player would run from midfield to a ball that is going out of bounds on the goal line.

Thanks!

RA30, I'd say all your concerns have been addressed. I didn't play 2012, but you're describing a completely different game from the PES 2013 demo I'm playing! Why not download it and check it out yourself?

Just fooling around with some of the player ratings using the PC editors that are available. Some very cool stuff. Body balance means everything. Lower a player's balance and he stumbles and gets knocked off the ball very easily, making that a very useful rating to consider when fielding a squad. That was an issue for me in FIFA as those ratings mean nothing at all in that game.

Another rating of interest to me is the responsiveness rating. I actually find the players too responsive and hard to control in the demo. Lowering their responsiveness makes them much easier to control with the stick, albiet more sluggish of course. In general I'd say players are rated too high in that catagory anyway. I mean Andy Carroll 82? Realistically and as far as gameplay response goes, he should probably be rated in the 40s from what I tested.

Why am I being told that my video card does not meet the requirements, thus I have to play in safe mode???

I have a GT 650M and an i7.... I am playing Battlefield 3 on high settings and I can't play this demo??

Something is wrong...

Really enjoying how players are on the ball, I feel more in control as to what I want to do with the ball, huge plus for PES.

Liked seeing defenders jockey with attackers and not just jump in to steal the ball, but waited in position to react to what the attacker was going to do, instead of just going straight in and possibly having the attacker go around you. Huge thing for me.

Defenders seem more aware of what's going on around them, better position as you have to actually work to get past the defense and score a goal.

Wish the graphics were better, and the atmosphere. But I can live with it as I'm a sim soccer player and this plays a great game of realistic soccer just off the demo, can't wait til when it's released.

Downloaded on PS3...color me impressed.

The controls feel tight, game is fluid and everything just feels and moves "right" to me...hard to describe.

Love the off the player movement, can't tell you how many goals I've scored simply off of the CPU recognizing space and making the PROPER runs to take advantage of it.

It was a thing of beauty to play Italy and see almost everything go through Pirlo as in real life...he really bossed the match. Ronaldo is a beast and a handful to deal with, etc. You can definitely tell the difference between players and who you need to pay attention to, just as in real life.

Will def. be picking this up once it drops.

I think user defensive tactics play a part as well. I messed with tactics to defend deeper and saw less of it. I also saw some long range efforts. This is on pro and top player, FWIW.

Right on Yeats. Body Balance is actually the "strength" rating, and it comes into play alongside with the player's weight. BB is perhaps one of the most important stats in the game and key one for FW's, CB's and GK's.

Response is a little more tricky depending on the player's position, as many things are involved like reaction time to loose balls and effectiveness in receiving and controlling passes.

So the tactics work pretty well and are noticeable? That was one my main issues last year was the tactics because no matter how much you changed them the cpu would still drop deep into their own box. I will be looking to replicate Spain/Barcelona's play style as much as I can once the game drops.

This is exactly how I feel, you can tell the difference between players. Pirlo slow as anything? Yup. Pinpoint passes? Yup. That's what has bothered me with the other soccer game, it's all about pace, pace, pace. With PES you really have to think about what pieces you want on your team. Want a guy like De Rossi to run all over the pitch, or Pirlo to set up passes for your attackers? With the amount of categories there are are for attributes is nicely put together.

And it does feel more fluid. I noticed it right off the bat with the players moving around, and the passing.

The AI in just the demo is an improvement over the AI in PES 12. Defenders react much better, and top notch defenders can read plays as they're unfolding. You just can't dribble around willy nilly with a player through a defense and score at will, if you try to do that, you will simply get the ball stolen.

I'm a die hard soccer fan, and have played the sport for 11 years in competitive leagues, and just based on the PES 13 demo, it's going to deliver the best sim soccer experience yet.

Post a link please as there's been nothing to suggest that.

The demo IS already doing that. The game itself might even be better, fingers crossed they don't decide to "tinker".

I agree. I did the same thing and it helped.

There are a few thing they could change but I hope it is nothing drastic because the game is great as it is.

The need to fix the throws from the keepers and maybe town down CPU through balls and balls over the top of the defense.

Good points, that GK rainbow toss is pretty comical hehe. I of course meant "don't break completely" and not "don't tweak slightly."

I haven't done or seen enough to give a sweeping endorsement. From the changes I made for my team, I was able to see some basic tactics play out on the pitch. I defended deeply and looked for long counters using pace out wide with England. I pressured and went for quick, direct attacking through the middle with Germany. So in that sense, I was mostly able to use the settings to accomplish my tactical goals.

# 200 Yeats @ 08/01/12 12:45 PM
I edited my team's tactics, pulling the back line back as far as it would go positionally AND setting the defensive line height to 0. The CPU was still lobbing balls over them, my defenders just wouldn't stay back far enough it seemed. Starting to think it's either the CPU team's attack tactics that need editing, or their individual "lobberoony" ratings or something.

Regardless, this demo is unputdownable, wow what a football game. Eagerly checking my mailbox every day to see if my pre-order has arrived yet.
