Another MLB 12 The Show game update arrived this morning, bring it up to version 1.16. Check below for the details and let us know what you are seeing.
  • Schedules and box score were misaligned for a portion of the games for certain teams.
  • Occasionally when loading into online games, an empty field (home plate view) would be shown and user has to PS button out.
  • Analog bunting interface, versus a behind the pitcher view in online games would cause a frequent freeze when the user on offense bunted.

so true lol. I remember freshman year trying to get simple programming homework done and feeling like it would be easier to solve time travel and the existence of God.

I'd say the better description here would be them bandaging a big wound (the vanilla - 1.06 patch freezing issues) and we are now seeing the repercussions of them not doing proper stitch work.

Well me being the random and free-spirited person I am, I got tired of the game asking me to download the patch, so instead of disconnecting my PS3 I just... downloaded the patch.

Before this current patch, I was a part of the group that continued their old franchise despite prevalent, but avoidable, freezing issues.

I just checked every single team's schedule, for both april and may, checked certain box scores that previously caused my game to freeze, and started a game. I even checked a bunch of other random box scores, notably a few from those weeks in april that caused most of the fuss.

I have had no freezes at all.

Agreed on that assessment. I still haven't dl'd 1.16

My franchise was started post 1.06, so I am pretty sure I am in the clear, but wary of pulling the trigger.

Its not laziness imo its more like a lack of competence to put out a patch that doesnt break the game. Still no word on fixing crossplay...smh...getting tired of waiting on SCEA to get their act together.

Sounds like some patch frustration carrying over into your gameplay :-p

Of course I'm only one guy, and we have a plethora of tangents and variables to consider here.

But like I said, I have no freezing. My pre-1.06 franchise file was EXACTLY like such a franchise file that would be created (or saved), by the patch-less Playstation Vita. The only question is whether or not this patch is designed to safely regress back to the Vita

For those of you who are downloading this patch anyway... Just try it. You can transfer to the cloud, load it on your Vita, and mess around with stuff, then transfer back. Just don't save over your original, native, franchise file. I think it will work, but if it doesn't, you can just delete all your cloud stuff and you'll be in the same position you are in right now.

It literally doesn't hurt to try. Just remember once you download the patch, there's no going back.

I'd still recommend a zip drive backup to everyone before pulling the trigger. But other than that...

What Bobhead said.

Downloaded the patch before I read all of this. I can't advance my franchise at all now. Anytime I try to play the next game or sim to date it locks up. This is terrible and I hope that it is fixed immediately.

BC I just uploaded my new season, post 1.16, from my ps3 onto the vita and checked out a few things and didn't get the error I did when I first tried post 1.06.

I haven't tried to play a game yet, but I've gotten further than before as I couldn't even look at the schedule before. So, so far so good.

The times are still wrong on the vita but whatever. I'm going to play a few games tomorrow at work then upload it to the ps3 and see how it goes.

%fingerscrossed

What Bobhead said.
Oh that post is assuming you've already downloaded, or are downloading, 1.16 anyway.

If you aren't sure about downloading the patch, there is no way to "sample" the patch. If you delete the patch, you delete all patches, and probably leave yourself in a worse scenario.

I want that to be clear... I'm not advocating someone download 1.16 just for the heck of it. It's definitely a point of no return.... I'll edit the other post.

Thanks.

We've already read one story of someone losing everything. My point was that a zip drive backup will at least ensure someone can continue without ANY patches. I find that a better alternative than a restart, but can understand why this isn't and ideal set of choices.

I've got the release day patch only. IF I decided to try the latest one, I'd only do it after backing up my current save. Other's should follow suit if they are in the same situation as me (meaning a restart is NOT an option).

Ok, here are my impressions/observations after downloading the 1.16 update:

Please note that I started my franchise when OSFM Spring Training came out. I was fortunate enough to not experience any freezes whatsoever, after update 1.06 (no matter how hard I tried). It was at an in-game save when 1.06 dropped, and I was able to continue with no issues.

This evening I downloaded 1.16 and loaded up my franchise, which was on May 8, 2012. I had just happened to beat Seattle in SEA by a score of 3-2 on 5/7. When I loaded I immediately noticed that SEA had no starter scheduled for 5/8 and I was unable to play that game. I was able to sim to the next day (5/9) and play that game, no problem. I read about other people seeing insane amounts of losses, so I decided to sim the season, to see if I saw anything weird. I was able to sim the season, without issue. After, I checked each teams record, and everyone had 162 games.

(BRB, need to charge my phone before I lose this post )

OK, continuing:

Every team had 162 games, except for my team, DET (98-63) and TOR (89-72), which had only 161... I went and checked every boxscore for my team, with no freezing or hiccups. The only issues was the 5/8 which display no info on the daily preview, and 3 games (vs. SEA) in April in which the "view boxscore" option does not show up on the calendar. So trying to figure out why TOR came up short, I kept the date on 5/8 and tabbed over to their schedule. They played OAK on that day, and basically that game showed up blank as well. Curious as to how SEA (80-82) and OAK (77-85) still ended up with 162 games, I viewed those 5/8 games on there schedules... it shows game results (SEA lost to DET 2-3), and (OAK beat TOR 6-4) - and the daily preview shows the pitchers of record for SEA and OAK, but is blank for the opponents. The option to view the boxscore is still not available for those 2 games.

Other than those 2 games on 5/8, everything seems to fine within my franchise. Not sure what to make of it, except I happened to be playing SEA when I updated. Either way, I'm just going to continue and see what happens *knock on wood* - I guess I'll try simming into year 2 for S's and giggles.

Edit: I'll try some cross-platform saves and see if I experience anything out of the ordinary. I have been moving my RTTS between the two after 1.06 with no issues, even with the schedule times discrepancy.

Don't give a crap?

I'm sorry, but I just don't get how trying to patch a game in which may indeed be causing problems diminishes SCEA's high reputation.
You're losing me on that one.

You guys do realize that we are throwing THOUSANDS of different variations of saves at this patch...and for SCEA to test that is IMPOSSIBLE.

In your opinion was this present patch properly tested before it was put out? They have franchise files of people here who had problems with the first patch. . Btw, no one insinuated SCEA did this on purpose or doesn't care. I'm curious as to why you brought that up in your defense of the SCEA development team

# 154 bkrich83 @ 04/29/12 02:06 AM
So I bit the bullet and installed the 1.16 patch.

I loaded up my franchise, which I started after the 1.06 patch was installed. Simmed to the end of the season, no issues, no freezes. I stopped simming at different points and tried to make it freeze by checking schedules, etc. No freezes. At the end of the season all teams had 162 games. No out of whack loss numbers or anything, all the proper teams were in the playoffs.

Incorrect playoffs, free agency, and draft order along with minimal franchise changes I think this year's game was a poor effort.

All that being said, I haven't had any problems with this patch.

If you're saying this issue was fixed in the first patch (don't know what the number is. 1.06. 1.16, or whatever), I respectfully disagree. I did it about every third game as I previously said. Never claimed the CPU did it. What I said was CPU RF constantly has balls hit over their head b/c they play too shallow. For my team (STL) I now manually position my OF's to their proper depths so this won't happen. I could just leave my defense positioing left on AUTO and just not try to throw them out but then that would leave me open to have balls hit over a shallow playing Beltran's head. IMO they still play too shallow. for the record I have not dl'd the present patch and if I misread your post I offer my humblest apology

You mean the playoff system that wasn't official until a week or two before the game was released? Get real man.

I'm still on my same franchise file, and although I could make it freeze if I wanted to, I've been able to continue playing with minimal problems. I really don't want to have to start over. I'll finish the year patchless if I have to, but I'm curious if other people in my situation have tried to do stuff?

Not to mention that if I plan on playing without this patch I will obviously have to disconnect my PS3 from the internet, since it's already asked me 3 times and I've only been playing for about 10 minutes.
I had freezes post 1.06 patch. Was really concerned about downloading 1.16 but I'm a stats guy and really need to be able to look at box scores so I bit the bullet.

Everything works perfectly now for me.

Good news. I'm tempted to dl it now. Still gonna wait until I hear from a few more here before I do it though. No offense, btw. I believe you
