Another MLB 12 The Show game update arrived this morning, bring it up to version 1.16. Check below for the details and let us know what you are seeing.
  • Schedules and box score were misaligned for a portion of the games for certain teams.
  • Occasionally when loading into online games, an empty field (home plate view) would be shown and user has to PS button out.
  • Analog bunting interface, versus a behind the pitcher view in online games would cause a frequent freeze when the user on offense bunted.

Anyone else have problems with pitcher's fielding i.e. turning double plays while covering first and fielding tappers in front of the plate?

For the first time since initially purchasing a PS3 three years ago, I am regularly disconnecting from the internet before inserting a game disc.

Of all the publishing houses I thought I might have to do this for, SCEA SD would have been dead last on my list.

I am so freaked out about having issues after already investing hundreds of hours since March 6 that, even though I haven't had any problems so far, I'm not taking anybody's word for anything on patches. I had DL'd 1.06 before coming here and reading the horror stories. I've been lucky so far. But I'm passing on 1.16.

Sad place to be. There's a morality lesson in here somewhere about being good to go out of the box (which The Show has been for the most part in the past). The industry has to get away from the "hell, we'll just patch it later" attitude regarding new releases. I'm not talking about the patching option itself (I think we are all thankful it is there with this gen), I'm talking about using it as a crutch as part of the game plan ahead of time.

If this can happen to Sony SD, ordinarily one of the best, it can happen anywhere.

i'm sorry but, just because someone says something doesn't mean there correct, if your not "defending" scea, then what are you doing?

Here's a fix for those who are having the crazy # of loses and those teams make wild card in playoffs even though with all the loses they finish last. ( not an ideal fix, but I'll take it).

So in my chise (knights opening day rosters, 30 team control) the year is 2014, sept 1. Braves and a's were in 2nd and 3rd in their division, after update they both had an extra like 70 loses or so and no matter what stay in last and get wild card anyway, even though their wins still aren't better than actual wild card teams.

What I did was deleted the update. Load my franchise again, and everythings normal, minus all 1st and 2nd update fixes. Anyway I simmed to the playoffs since I only had a month left, saved with correct wild card teams and standings /wins -losses records and then saved a new file.

I re downloaded the update, started my new chise save in the playoffs and everything is now how its suppose to be + updates fixes.

So if your willing to do this it works and will let you continue your franchise with update, but I can see why this won't cut It for a lot of users on here that don't like randomness or simming.

But again this will fix the issue for those who are post allstar break with the crazy losses records, if they are willing to take the sacrifice.. or just wait it out til scea responds with a new update or answer. Hope this helps some and for others I feel your pain.

Yeah, this patch pretty much sucks. I have 7 RTTS players going on and I bought 20$ worth of RTTS points between 2 of them and EVERY LAST ONE is screwed up.

I should have been more clear. That's exactly what I meant. That's not an SCEA decision, it's a PSN decision. It'd be nice though if we could install and uninstall patches as we see fit instead of the all or nothing deal we have now.

Great post, Scribe.

How long did it take before users here started noticing problems? While they can't test every variable, it's hard for me to believe that they tested enough variables to conclude the patch was good to go.

If they tested the patch on a career-mode file started before 1.06, for example, I think they would have found problems - based on feedback we've seen here.

Well, so far, with my franchise that was started post 1.60, I'm fine.

I gotta be honest, I pushed harder than anyone to get the correct start times in the games for my Cubbies, but sheesh... I feel sort of bad now lol.

Are online games still laggy?

# 211 TGov @ 04/29/12 04:48 PM
Was wondering if anyone one who had a franchise since the release of Knights Spring roster(before the 2nd update) release has had any freezing or other problems with this patch...

I had a problem with the 2nd update but deleted and reloaded it and now its fine, Ive spent so much time and effort in my franchise, especially with edits, would hate to lose it... maybe Ill just keep bypassing this update...

Any way to stay online without having the patch update keeping popping up???

# 212 quack attack @ 04/29/12 05:12 PM
i believe that when you decline the patch, in order to play the game, it automatically signs you out, so technically your not hooked up to the internet, that's the problem, i guess if you just turn off internet connection in your network settings that might keep the update prompt from showing up?

So Cloud Saves are still a total crapshoot at this point?

Slab sounds like he's had no issues, but there's others (including me) that have run into freezes or corrupt files since the last patch.

I'd just like an answer, one way or another. If I can't use the feature, I will either sell the system or just run a separate Franchise on the Vita and one the PS3. My preference (and why I bought the Vita) is to run one Franchise file between the 2 systems.

OK, horror story here. I was prompted to download the patch. Backed out, obviously. The game decided to freeze. This happened a few times, so I eventually said yes. It downloaded, froze, and told me the patch data was corrupted. Now,my game just keeps on flashing the white text on one of the loading screens (forget the words, had something to do with PlayStation). Anyone got any fixes?

Delete the game data from the XMB, and start over (with the patches, not your game saves). It sounds like you may have started to DL the update and interrupted it.

I for one deleted the game data, and re-installed the game, still have the same problem with RTTS freezing 2 games after the All-Star game. Sony says it not a problem, if people don't report to them they are having problems, everyone needs to jam the phone lines. 1-800-345-7669

Like I said....WE as a community are not even getting the same results from the patch.
I agree they would never have known, but we have a lot of time and money at stake here. Would it have killed them to say what they did know?:

Something like:

This patch is intended to change the dates of certain games in the MLB schedule, to reflect real life. It is possible that users may experience problems if they plan on continuing their old franchise or RTTS modes.
That's really all I'm saying. It's one thing to not know how a medicine will affect each and every person. But if they would have told us what was in the medicine, I could have figured that out for myself.

# 220 Brandwin @ 04/29/12 08:11 PM
If SCEA told me right now they were going to credit me back for my training points, I would just start over. Not knowing is what really sucks. I can continue my RTTS without the patch, but I hate to keep wasting hours if it's not going to ever work with patches.

Luckily the franchise files I have said (which work) were just ones I was messing around with.

So I'm not sure if I want to start a franchise or not since we don't know how or if they will fix the problem right now.
