NCAA 13 despite all it's eye candy was a joke on the field when it came to gameplay.

Year after year the Option attack by the CPU is broken, QB Scrambling logic broken and RB open field logic broken.

Please for once focus on gameplay EA.............
Agree. It seems like last year was the "Year of the Glitches". Most of the sports games last year had glitches that mades parts/the entire game unplayable for a extended period of time.
The main thing I want for NCAA 13 is it to be playable from day 1. If I am waiting to play it after I bought it, I want it to be because I am waiting for a Roster. I know there will be some bugs that will slip through the cracks or cannot be fixed without pushing back launch date, but I dont want it to be a bug that makes me not want to play the game. There are bugs that I could overlook because it isnt a big deal. For example, in NBA 2k I am able to overlook record glitch because it isnt a big deal. But, the Draft glitch in MP and teammate AI makes it almost unplayable after year 3.

I love college football and I played NCAA to death on my big ole Xbox and i even managed to enjoy 11 and somewhat 12 on this gen. I'll admit I'm not a real hardcore sim guy like some of you are, but the passing system is certainly the biggest flaw. Madden 12's passing and passing defense is a major improvement, psychic DBs and super LBs are almost nonexistent and the qb can actually throw OVER people (gasp!). Give us that system and continue to evolve and grow the existing features (for gods sake open up teambuilder) and 13 has the potential to be pretty good.

Oh and fix the facemask fit on the newer Revo Speed helmets. That's just sloppy

You know what I would like from NCAA, for the game to work properly.

Not even bugs or glitches, how about basic stuff like Dynasty being playable five-ten years down the road? Proper recruiting ratios (IE not having a million WR but almost no SS) How about running out of shotgun or option attack working? How about some semblance of real special teams play? How about a field that isn't tiny? How about a football that isn't oversized? How about a AI that doesn't cheat? How about throwing in penalties like pass interference, defensive holding, late hits, illegal man in motion, etc? How about plays that aren't cheesy and can be stopped if you call the right defense? How about some basic WR-DB interactions? How about use of momentum and weight? I could go on.

Fix these things, and the game could be good, heck legendary even. But they wont, because its not flashy and cant be put in the back of the box, and forever and ever we will keep running in circles till we get some damn competition in the football video game market.

Makes me mad.

I don't want to come off like d!ck but if ea brought the game to pc we would have a lot if not all of that in game just from the MOD community, the Beautiful, beautiful, MOD community.

I'm so tired of people pointing the finger at each other blaming ourselves for why we don't get a better game. Lets cut that out.

Hmmm... a pretty game that plays like crap or a less pretty game that plays realistic... tough call..

I skip all of the cut scenes before the game, during the game, and after the game. I really could care less. The only things that are important to me (and many others by the looks of it) are game play and team management (i.e., recruiting, depth charts, custom playbooks).

Being a member on the forums for years now, its funny how much peoples opinions have changed. I swear back when there was madden 09 and 10, the only thing you read on these forums were people complaining about presentation (myself included), now its mostly about gameplay (which I think should be the focus now).

Personally I think they need to just make the game fun and enjoyable to play. I've learned presentation is something EA struggles with (or maybe just doesn't really care to get it right). Add all the cut scenes you want, but for me they are very "disconnecting" from the experience. Other games have real-time presentation, and that is what EA should be trying to incorporate, however i don't think we will see that this gen.

hell yea...gimme a game with less quality graphics and more quality and realistic gameplay any time. theres a reason i completed a season on madden 07 ps2 in 2011 when i have a 360 and a ps3 and had ncaa 11...GAMEPLAY and depth of franchise mode. graphics are fine at this point. we got good lighting and even dirt kicking up and 3d grass(somewhat). thats enough....gameplay and animation variety, bug fixes and better testing, and depth of modes, and commentary only from hear on out IMO.

Just made my way back into the ncaa forum and I see EA is finally going to work on the passing system.....
I'm paying a little attention now. Lets see how this turns out.

I will not tell anyone not to buy the game... I just wish more people would wait. The only way EA will ever get the message is if they see their early numbers drop (pre orders, release day purchases). Heck... just waiting one day after release to buy it would send them a message.
Agree. Thats why buy used now for EA football.
Kills me when people post "i buy new so I'm supporting the developers" whenver some say they are buying used.
Some developers deserve that but EB has save me a good amount of $ over the past few years when buying EA sports games.

Its sad that a fews years ago i got really excited about football games and on a couple occasions drove close to 2 hrs to get early. Now i just wait a week or 2 and grab used.
Hopefully EA starts to get things turned around.

Only thing i'm excited for is the recruiting system. The way they worded the gameplay part seems like they just made some tweeks and called it a new name.

Absolutely. Give me a game that PLAYS well, is realistic, and fun. The bells and whistles are nice, but they aren't what keep me going back to a game. Gameplay brings me back. Back in the PS2 glory days, I would play NCAA from July to January and then again when the draft came around, and then again before the release of the new game. Not because the game looked good, but because it was fun and pretty realistic considering the circumstances. I haven't touched 12 since October and really have no urge to. I really just wish EA would just get back to the fundamentals of what made this series fun and what most of us got hooked on.

That press release really doesn't get me all too excited. When the first thing they reference is even more canned intros, it's clear they don't have their priorities straight. It's like they don't even realize their paradigm is all wrong. Effective presentations are not about excruciating detail at the canned level, they are about variable details at the dynamic level. THAT is what creates immersion.

Glad to see passing getting re-worked, but the lack of any mention about more realistic player movement is thoroughly disappointing. Will every player still have the same movement style, regardless of size or skill? That kind of stuff was already getting a little old in NHL '94...I mean seriously.

The recruiting scouting system is interesting, but it could go one of two ways. The first, it just adds an extra busy task to have to uncover some of the attributes that we now get automatically. There is no boom/bust potential. This would be pathetic, and I have a feeling that's what it will amount to. The second -- what I am hopeful for -- is that every prospect in the top 150 has some degree of hidden risk of bust, and outside the top 150 there is a hidden degree of potential. Scouting should essentially help find these hidden attributes...but naturally we shouldn't be able to get them all. We might finally see rare 2 stars becoming 80+ overall gems, and some 5 stars never cracking 70 overall.

But given Tiburon's poor game design talents, I'm wary of even being hopeful for 2013 being anything more than another patch for NCAA 2012.

The guy who wants Teambuilder updated is the problem? A feature that has barely been touched since NCAA10? Clearly EA isn't listening to him but I'm ever so curious to know why he's the problem.

He's probably referring to the fact that nothing on his wish list addressed any gameplay issues.

Get rid of the damn MASCOTS PLAYING FOOTBALL!!!!! Waste of space if you want to tell the truth.

I promised that I wouldn't buy this year's version after the disaster that was ncaa 12. I have to stick to that promise. I have to resist, no matter how good the game sounds this time around. Hopefully some of you guys who were disappointed last year can resist the hype this year. We KNOW it isn't going to live up to the hype, and it will have a ton of issues. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 5 times... god damnit EA

# 218 johnnyg713 @ 03/24/12 12:38 PM
For me, the passing system is whats going to be the factor in wether i buy or not this year. If they add right stick controls or something along those lines for the passing, then its a definite buy. People think they're overrated, but I'm all for right stick controls.

I agree that gameplay needs to be addressed, that message is loud and clear. You can't browse a thread on this site without someone mentioning the issues plaguing gameplay. But if EA isn't complying it's not because the focus is on upgrading Teambuilder, which really hasn't been touched in years.

More wording straight from a press release, as happens every year. None of this - ZILCH, ZERO, NADA - means a thing to me until this game gets in the hands of real gamers.

As always, I wait and see. I'm not cautiously optimistic ... I'm just cautious. This will be my 10th version of NCAA Football. I always get it because I only play sports games (and almost all football), but I always see the actual game falling short of the pre-release hype.
