I have always used stats to gauge whether an online player is "legit" or not in 11... for example I weeded out those with very high SB/CS numbers since that indicates someone who constantly early steals on every pitch. I hated that mostly because it slows down games too much, not to mention it's not so realistic to see so many early steals within a game.

But whether such a player is "legit" can still be subjective. After all, early steal is a legit game mechanics. If the game allows a certain move, why is a gamer not supposed to use it, you know what I mean? So policing can only go so far IMO... Something like deliberate pulling would become easier to detect on the client server system now, but whether a gamer plays fairly or not... it could take needless amount of human resources.

With more ways to filter players, things will be okay...

I think the issue is that for some reason, there's this notion about online gaming that gamers want to be ranked in one and only one universe... to do that everyone needs to be fairly randomly matched against players coming from a wide spectrum of play styles, even if some of them don't care at all about being ranked, just want to play the game certain ways... and that's the culprit.

I'm really looking forward to this years game and all the things they've fixed/added but I'm very disappointed to see (or so it seems) that they still don't have dome stadiums that work. Maybe it's not a big deal to most but if your someone like me who plays a Jays franchise it's annoying to play two thirds of your home games in cold temperatures. ( Oh ya another thing, it shouldn't be 40 degrees in June in Toronto, weather needs to be fixed.)

I know it's a small detail but this game prides itself on the little things that make the game so life like yet this issue they keep ignoring.

Dynamic fielding results and reaction (balls can now be dropped or missed by a fielder anytime)

I like to have my games to be as sim as possible so I always use classic pitching, timing only hitting, and autp fielding so that player attributes play more of a role. With that said I was wondering if we'll see more dropped balls from outfielders and do player attributes play more of a role to fielding as a whole.

Does anyone know if, in RTTS, I want to play as a Catcher, do I still have to call every pitch? Or have they added a setting where I can choose to play the non-routine plays (throwdowns, pickoffs(?), popups, bunts, dropped 3rd strikes, etc) only?

I went from playing MLB 08 on the PSP to playing MLB 11 on the PS3. In 08, the Catcher was exactly like I wanted it...in 11, I was basically forced into playing a different position.

I like playing multiple years. I really like RTTS for this, as I can play a game in 5-10 minutes as opposed to 1 hour for a normal game. That's a big difference.

Sorry if this has been answered. Can you save mid game during a play now/exhibition game?

That is music to my ears!!!

Russell, ok now that I know we will be punished for playing guys out of position, will there be a rating for each position? For example, if a guy has a 85 rating at 1B and decide to play in him right field, will his ratings show a drop in game (say a 40 fielding rating)?

Not this year just secondary positions.

Does that mean if someone is a utility infielder whose main position is, say, 2B that his fielding would suffer playing SS or 3B even though IF is his secondary position and in real could be a good fielder?

In general, do the punishments vary by position? For example, does an out-of-position player in right field receive a penalty equal to that of an out-of-position player currently catching behind the plate?

# 297 Pared @ 02/17/12 08:48 PM
You've posted that already in the correct thread - no need to copy and paste it in multiple.

If you play any player in a position that is not his primary or secondary position he is going to take an 80% hit on all of his fielding attributes. This year it's going to cost you he will be able to catch the ball but not much us.

Will outfielders suffer by moving in the outfield? Say I'm the Rangers and I acquire a LF, I already have Josh Hamilton so I move the new LF to RF, will his attributes go down?
