Yep, feels the same to me, too.

I also think Rampage is seriously overpowered, and Wand is somewhat underpowered. Wand's chin is lacking and his strikes are a bit slow, even his jab gets beaten out by Rampage's hooks. Heck, if you go to the body with Wand, you're going to get tagged with a hook even if he whiffed with a prior one and you connected.

On the other side, Rampage has a bit too much power in his punches, and they're thrown at Pacquiao speed. His recovery is equivalent to Prime Fedor, which is the icing on the cake. This feels the same, both with AI Rampage, and playing as him. And I say all that as a fan of the guy, sheesh.

Now, I think the UFC matchup is just fine, Anderson feels pretty much like Anderson, and Jones's stats feel comparable to his real version, too.

Overall, the demo is fun.

Pride mode is a blast. Presentation, soccer kicks, stomps, grounded knees, Bas, Lenne Hardt, what more could you possibly ask for?

There seems to be much more fluidity to the motion than in 2010, especially concerning lateral movement and strike avoidance. The quick strikes are much, much better than 2010's, which was one of the big weaknesses of that particular game. The clinch is good, I really like being able to back out of it.

The ground game isn't all that great. With the lack of decent top control it's going to be hard to "Fitch" someone this time around, or even just to put in more than the most rudimentary GnP. I don't mind the subs, although I still prefer the joint locks from EA MMA, it's a leap above the horrid "shine" subs from 2010. It's not perfect, but a sure step up from the last installment in the series.

Thanks B

Thread has been a good read, keep it up.

Genki Sudo? And I don't remember Choi being on the list either.

Either way, Sim + Pride = Back to school

I suck, its been a long time.

I had fun playing some tonight. I need to play a little more to see if I want to buy it. I really hate the accelerated clock, they need to give us the ability to change it. I feel like you have to throw way too much because of that.

I LOVE playing with A. Silva. Can't wait to take him into the PRIDE Ring.

First off, Bas is awesome! Loved him in MMA, love him in this demo...

Just some quick feedback on the demo..........................

I'm a huge boxing fan so Pride was always going to get my attention. The presentation in this mode is nice. From the fighter announcements, fighter introductions, over the top laser displays, etc, etc... Really reminded me of when I followed Sefo and Hunt.

Player models look unchanged with maybe some minor tweaks but they look the same to me. In saying that, I never really played 2010 so my comparisons are more connected with 2009.

The gameplay also feels the same but it seems something has changed?! It's more fluid and the speed to everything happening in the ring has a nice blend. It is still very much a arcade game, so there will be more to the over-all product that I won't like., i'm guessing.

All in all, the demo is a good indication of what we'll see from the complete game! Unfortunately, the arcade aspect of this game will keep this game a rent only title for me, and EA's MMA will continue to do the rounds in my 360...

Demo: 7/10

I'll say one thing..

I really hate the reversals..

It reminds me of the WWE game...

The ground game needs a tune up.

agreed jukeman.

Someone else mentioned Wandy seemed slower than Page and I agree, it seems like he's walking around in mud when you move him but Im thinking the game will be tweaked for the final build. The nice thing about the 2 year release as opposed to the yearly title is that hopefully it will be pretty fine tuned on the final version - fingers crossed

Thing moves slower if your fighter is too gassed out (sim). That's what I noticed, but what I do to not get caught is simply turn the other way around by rotating to the opposite direction once the CPU gets closer. Works most of the time. But I still hate this new submission system terribly. It literally takes me away from the "actual" fight. I doubt they have enough time to replace it in the final build. Button-mashing should be more appropriate for this.

They should just make submission mini game as simple as a QTE(with button mashing or just a single press)

I am distracted when the current mini game pops up and I assume the creators were too because there is no struggle animation...You dont really see the fighters fighting to get into position, they're just holding a body part..

I'm really torn. I like the stand up w/ the exception of 1 thing; I'm trying to move forward and jab, yet I'll accidentally throw a hook. Annoying.

The ground game kills me. In 09 and EA MMA, if a good wrestler takes me to the ground, I'm like, o ****. In this, just a matter of time until I get up. I'm going to wait to see what they patch. The way I feel now, I may pass.

I know i'm the only controlling the type of punch but the problem is that the controls to throw spinning back fists are so easy to hit with the controller even if it's not my intention.
it's perfect i'm okay with it(the bolded part). i think its just a matter of memorizing the controls. i'd rather press L1+punch to spin backfist than do a quarter-circle forward, quarter-circle back circle something+punch to execute it.

lol that's because pressing forward + punch together will really make you throw a hook.

I didn't realize how much I missed playing UFC games. Downloaded the demo and have been knocking out Anderson Silva via front kick all day. the only thing I am disappointed in is the submission "game." I can get past that though. On a side note, does anyone know if the fighter's entrance music will be their signature song or something they have previously came out to? If not, will we be able to edit that?

We won't be able to edit current fighters entrance music and they are each assigned to a song that is currently in the game.

Game actually made me want to play EA MMA.

Played about 3-4 matches today. I'm going to wait to read your guy's impression on the final build to decide whether to get it.

I always give EA a hard time for the products they put out, but they did a damn good job w/ MMA. While you had the hook spammers, I could play on and offline w/o giving myself house rules or feeling cheated. I'd love to have the cage walk on there, some of the clinch moves, and of course the spinning back elbow, but that game just felt right.

I see UFC3 selling very well, especially w/ the extra exposure it's going to receive, but sadly, I don't think they'll ever go back to the foundation they had w/ 09.

I hope I'm wrong.

And how about reversals on the ground? They made it alot tougher to reverse now (which is a good thing) and I'm trying to better learn when to flick the stick. It seems they've sped up the ground transitions, so now I can just wait to see them start their move before I go for a reversal, and when the opponent moves me on the ground, I end up trying to reverse.
Yeah sways in this game are more anticipation than reaction unless you have really good reflexes. The best advice I could give you about swaying effectively would be to use the back and forward sways more, and the left and right sways rarely because they will cause you to get cracked by hooks (which the CPU throws way to often) if you guess to the wrong side.

Anybody knew how to do that Flying Knee to the head, with Jon Jones or Spider Silva?
I kept looking in the Action List but the said move isn't listed there.
I feel very comfortable playing in the Advanced difficulty and I seem to have like "mastered" all the common striking moves except this Flying Knee attack the CPU does. How do you execute it? (I'm on a PS3)

Flick the left stick towards your opponent and hit L1+X or O, can't remember, might actually be both. Make sure you are a good distance away, because it is a stepping move and you have to be further away from your opponent. Both Silva and Jones can do the knee.

Got it! So it only needs a flick of the stick. Thanks.
