Odd. I was watching someone else's vid and for the lil' corner promo for the game they had LeBron and Dirk moving around in the graphic. Mine was completely clear behind all the words.

And speaking of those graphics supers, I wonder they don't feather the edges of the graphics? They look sweet and all, but the hard edges really stand out and it sometimes has this broken glass kinda look in contract to everything else.

I finally got my hands on the demo this afternoon: XBox 360 version

Some Initial Impressions:

Graphics

My first run through was basically a visual experience, I was looking at the player models, tattoo's ect. It's not a huge leap from last year but nicely refined, Dirk, Kidd and Butler all look a little revamped. Tattoo's look much brighter and clear, almost too much though, some of Lebron's tattoo's look like they were just inked right before the game. That's extreme nitpicking though and bottom line is that at this stage in the xbox 360's lifecycle I don't expect to see night and day leaps.

Where the game really shines from a visual standpoint is in the way animations play out ...er... or don't play out anymore. It is so refreshing to see collision's occurring basically in real time rather than two player animation. The game in motion is where it's at fellas.

Gameplay

Upon starting my second game the gameplay refinements really started to pop out at me. This is one of those things that can't be understood by watching videos only by actually playing yourself. Movement is much tighter compared to NBA 2k11. You really feel much more in control while still being held accountable for momentum. I like...I like it a lot!

Like everyone has already said, jump shooting feels nice and silky, it's a nice upgrade from last year; Dirk fans will be in heaven this year. The thing that I was most anxious to try for myself definitely doesn't disappoint and that's the post game.

I love the post engage mapped to the Y button, it feels infinitely better than hitting both triggers and let's not even talk about the auto-postup from 2k10. I'm still feeling out the system but I just know I'm going to love getting to know how to pull off a go-to move and then throwing in counter moves; my mouth just waters at what's in store for me this year.

I'm loving the way the ball feels much more alive and I love that I've yet to see a barely tipped pass go flying into the 10th row. On one play Lebron drove into traffic and lost the handle, the ball stayed low and Caron Butler bent down to gain possession; it's a small thing but it goes so far.

It's hard to get a great feel for the ai, playing against one team for such a short period but the ball spacing seems right and the Miami players are playing against me just like I'd expect in real life. They're getting their shots from their spots and punishing you on defense for a poor pass. I can't wait to hear the complaining about how it's so hard to lead pass for an easy dunk.

Sim is in style fellas, Bring on OCT 4.

Hi to all, new to this forums. I've read everything.

One thing i can't figure out is why don't we have the options between bouce pass and lob pass. When you go so deep into details, like 2K does, to make the best sim ever, I really can't find any reason not to add it to the game.

It used to be in 2K7 I think, shame they took it off.

That's what I'm saying. The PS3 demo is Way better than the demo they gave us last year. We're actually closer getting the product that the 360 users get. I'm ok with the difference in the color palette, but players missing from the promo and cameramen missing from the baseline are a little sad. I hope these things have been fixed for release. I feel like those are the only negative things about the PS3 demo.

One the coolest things that happened for me was seeing Joel Anthony brick a dunk and seeing the ball fly up like 8 rows into the crowd.

I played the demo a few times and it feels great. Nba 2k11 was the first sport title that I enjoyed playing throughout the whole year. Looks like Nba 2k12 will be no different. The first thing I will do is to jump in the training camp mode and learn the new stuff! God job 2k!

In real life, one of Dirk's go to moves seems to be starting off driving one way and then spinning back the other way, and sometimes even spinning back again before shooting.

Is there a way to do this in 2k12? I was hoping you could start a "Drive to Key" thing and then trigger a post spin move but it seems that once you start the drive, your controls then go back to isomotion instead of post moves.

Also, last year, you could post up and then fake a turn around fadeaway and then your player would swing his foot back around and you could basically do a fadeaway pump fake, come back, and then actually go up with the turnaround fadeaway. I loved doing that move in 2k11, but it doesn't seem that you can do that anymore. Any tips?

And lastly, I was hoping you could trigger an up-and-under, but instead of stepping through, step back for a fadeaway jumper, but it doesn't appear that you can do that.

I don't know what other way to describe it . Its fine I've adapted and i can live with it , however i still think it needs more work because if i turn a certain way i want to move that way not WAIT a second for it to play out and change direction.
Passing for example is the same .
I cant tell you how many times already where its actually DIFFICULT to finish a 3-1 fast break !
It should be one of the most simplest plays to make but somehow my pass is tipped or passed to the wrong man .
Directional passes SUCK !
I don't want to hold icon every time i want to pass it SHOULD be fluid .
With all this said I LOVE the game it has a lot of potential and some great ideas and some cool people who actually listen to our feedback.
but
When i hear such praise of perfection from so many like theres no room for improvement that scares me . lol

Anyway the game is a first day purchase for me I just want my voice heard so the producers know this game is by no means perfect in EVERY ONES eyes .

MUCH respect Czar and thanks for all that you give to the community !!!!
Thank you sir ! I understand. We can Always fight for better improvement in that area. I think like you mentioned it is better than last year and I am hopeful they can increment their way to what you want. Where the only delay is the natural one you would have and nothing artificial. That's what's up.

My points don't really apply to you then. There is another segment that want's control "outside" of realism I get really finicky in that area like instantaneous stop's and starts regardless of the players physics.

Trust me the Dev's are in no way satisfied with their current progress. I honestly feel through being up there as much as I was this year that every moment that could be spent on the development of this game was spent. That doesn't mean we shouldn't say I like mine with mustard & mayo. LOL

A lot of them read through the threads so give good deep reasoning behind why you don't like something. What you posted above let's them know that you don't have unreasonable demands and that you acknowledge their improvement. It's much easier for them to digest well balanced input like you dropped above.

When threads get personal we loose our influence. Ultimately that is bad for us.( not directed at you at all)

I love the feel of the game, I got to make one of dirk's crazy one leg shots it was awesome. The animations for pushing the ball are great and the AI looks like its gonna put up more of a challenge this year. Love all the info released so 2k will be gettin my cash before the game drops rookies or none draft class was wack anyway I'll live.

Is it just me or does the shot contest button feel "laggy" or even unresponsive at times?

Has anyone been able to keep the CPU at 0?

I've lost count of how many times I've played the demo, but I have yet to tire of the video montage that plays before every game. Somehow through different camera angles, letting different animation sequences play out, etc. it seems like I see something new every time. And this is all with the same teams, same music, same uniforms... Can't see myself ever getting tired of it. Great job 2K

I was wondering, is the demo at default speed (or has new builds slowed up default speed) or is it a little faster (Maybe make it more exciting to newbs etc). Because i feel it's waaaay faster than 2K11 is. A bit too fast for me. (I know it's not a problem cause you can tweak it, but I was just wondering.)

Why did they take out the contested jumpers? Arg so frustrating

# 959 johnrice20022002 @ 09/21/11 07:31 PM
One thing I'm extremely impressed with are the animations for contested layups. For example, when Lebron drives down the from the top of the key and there is legitimately 2-3 players waiting for him, he'll take a bump in the air, quickly adjust, and still make the basket, usually with no foul called. The animation transition from a clear layup to contested layup is so smooth though, it looks very real and, well, Lebron-like. Last year, and years before, this "change shot" animation would be incredibly clunky and often unnatural, basically reminding the player they're still "playing a videogame".

Other than that, 2k12's vast improvement to 11's solid post game makes me salivate at the thought dumping the ball down low to Hakeem Olajuwon or Shaquille O'Neal (circa 1995) and completely wrecking shop.

Come October 4th, basketball heaven will be residing in my 360 console.

CAN'T WAIT!!

I must admit this demo is pretty sweet. Ive been playing it no stop since i DL'd it. I just had a WOW moment when I took a corner 3 with Rudy F just as time expired. they went for a review and the ref walked over to the scorers table...walked back towards the court..pointing his finger down..

Baskets GOOD.
