NCAA Football 12 News Post

EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

A better solution all around have been to break the patch up into two fix the big glaring issues first then a second for all the extra bugs.

I'm taking my copy back tomorrow & trading it on something else. This is ridiculous. That comment about the consumers over-reacting is inexcusable. How dare him to say something like that for a game that has many issues? Good grief Wally!

I'm calling EA customer support and demanding a refund for their broken game
I will also never be purchasing an EA sports game ever again

3 years in a row with many of the SAME bugs on release and horrible treatment of customers

good riddance EA, there are plenty of other games to play and you won't have the exclusive licenses on NCAA and NFL forever

I'll never buy NCAA again especially while Haumiller is there. he's done nothing good for this game, and to insult the consumer? better update your resume and be ready for sales to completely drop

If Ben had come out with the patch notes (as he did) and also stated that we 'are currently on track for a late-August release' (as he did) and then would have followed with 'we are still looking at adding a few more fixes into the patch which may push the release back, again currently at this time we are scheduled for a late August release but cannot guarantee that if we add anything to it that it does not get pushed back into September'

See if that was said, you wouldn't see the reaction that is happening.

But instead you get a fan base that is going off of nothing, which just creates speculation and hearsay. Add ontop of that the comments from Ben on how 'we' are overreacting on small things just adds fuel to the fire.
I guess i don't see the justification over the heat. I understand the outrage toward the interview, as it was condescending as ****, but after asking for something that most if not any game companies do and rake them over the coals about the patch before the month has even ended just seems a little impatient in my eyes.

But, i'm a gamer first and mentioned in the interview thread i've dealt with buggy games before, and i'm just not as outraged over issues within games in my gaming hobby as most others here.

Now if Mid-September hits or something like it and no sign of the patch then all bets are off. LOL.

dumb thing for him to say... very dumb!!

that comment right there sums up why people are so harsh on EA and their products as of late.. all games!!

everyone should def blow up EA's customer service chat about NCAA and the displeasure over a game with the issues it has. you spent 60 bucks and cant enjoy it how they wanted you to.

at the very least you more than likely will get some sort of gift card!!

Woooooooooowwww

Now from the cliffs of the interview I am severely disappointed in choice of words.

There's still two more weeks left in the month so, the optimist in me is still hopeful that they stick to the original timeline. It's funny to see that some people claimed to have been a part of forcing EA to come out with the patch notes and schedule for the patch but, then they want to rake them over the coals if they can't stick to that schedule. Situations like this are exactly why they keep quite in the first place.

It's frustrating and I hate that we have to deal with this with games today but, the worst thing EA could do at this point is rush out a patch and mess something up worse. That would be an even bigger PR nightmare... If that's possible.

WTF... Looks like Madden is going to drown this game for me. Well ill probably be ready to play again once the college football season starts. Till then ill keep on playing mlb the show.

I was really hoping the patch would be out sooner. My holidays will be over by the time it comes out. Bummer, man.

I am in the process of listening to the interview now, and i have to say, it's not nearly as bad as it's being made out to be. The guy answered to the best of his abilities on things he could actually, honestly answer and tried to be sympathetic to the fact that there have been some major disappointments. He didn't sound to me like he was just brushing these issues aside, he said multiple times that he and the team are disappointed with the way things have played out since launch. I think a lot of the backlash here is because he was clear that there will be things they won't be able to fix this year, which is at least honest. He also did not sound to me like he was scoffing at the August 28th date for the patch- the interviewer threw a date out and it was pretty obvious he only didn't give a direct answer because he's not allowed to. I don't know, maybe i'm more compassionate than you guys, but i don't think this guy is as terrible at his job as his reputation here would lead you to believe. Even more important is that he acknowledged things directly from forums such as these without prompting a couple times early on, proving that he's seeing and understanding what even this admittedly more hardcore fan base is saying about the game. Interpret it how you want, but for those of you who may read other people's assessments and believe he was completely dismissive, you need to listen to it yourself to decide. The people who listened and heard arrogance and apathy towards these issues are entitled to their opinion and are maybe hearing something i missed, but please don't judge this dude based off of ONLY the negative posts.

Also, his words regarding the LT/L2 thing were "if you talk to some people if you hold the left trigger, or L2, the whole world is solved and every pass is perfect, everything is fixed...(laughs)...interesting to hear, but, um, it's been a fun....(tails off)". He's definitely not confirming that one, but he didn't deny it either.

Hey, question

Will player tendencies by auto fixed by the patch, or will new rosters be needed?

They'll be fixed. No need for new rosters.

lol The BBB have had complaints about EA for like 10 years. This won't change anything.

Did this game get worse after the interview or something? You realize nothing has changed yet right? We don't know when the patch is coming out. I think a BBB complaint based on "it might not come out as soon as i expected" is going to be a low priority when there's, you know, real fraud and bad businesses out there.

Ok, i was gonna say, it's not like he said "**** you" and burned a bible on this interview lol.

In that case, Lionsfan is right, they will respond to your complaint by contacting you and possibly offering a small token to make it right, and the BBB will be satisfied with that. It's the same with any business, if you complain to the BBB about a cell phone company you'll just get a small credit to your bill and the matter will be considered closed.

Wait, so if we complain to EA, is it possible to get a full refund?

I understand people wan't transparency but in a multi-million (EA might be nearing billion?) company that isn't possible for multiple reasons.

For example using a previous example

1 ) Worked on deep ball issue - Day 1
2 ) Working on freezing - Day 2

That sounds nice and all but what if on Day 3 they found out that the changes glitched the game worse? It's worse PR. They can handle a vocal minority (which is what OS is and all the 'boycotters' despite personal belief) but they can't take a hit from being transparent. Not to mention it could be used for fuel to the fire for opposition companies.

'Oh they only fixed issue 'A' on that day, we fixed issue 'A' and 'B' in our game.

EA's PR job is to play EA as perfectly as possible and blemishes aren't good. If your selling a product are you going to be vocal about it's issues? A car dealer won't be pitching MPG on a gas guzzler. At this point it's damage control and fixing, nothing more. It's not free fall and havoc like people seem to be playing it as.

Cliffs:
There is a certain level of things they can and cannot do as a profit organization, and openly expressing bugs and work operation and procedure is a big no-no. And they can't go after associates (MS and Sony) over their processes (patching delay) as it's bad publicity.

Edit:

No clue when the patch is out, listened to interview and there was times when it made it sound like it was done and sent in and there was times when it sounded like it was still being worked on.
