NCAA Football 12 News Post

EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

These games only become what they should be about 2 months after they're released.

My future EA purchases will be around October for NCAA and Christmas for Madden. By October the patches and tuners are out and good rosters are up--playing NCAA without those things set is just not as fun. By Christmas Madden has 2 patches and enough roster updates to start franchises with the new rising stars having good ratings boosts.

Given all this it really baffles me that OS continues to court developer relationships with EA and offer them protected status. It's quite clear that we don't get anything productive from that relationship. There's little transparency and even less accountability. As the interview shows, all we really get is a more intimate PR experience, which is still PR spin. At least we get our logo in some games .

That said, I do happen to enjoy the game despite its warts. I only play offline and I've been lucky not to have too many issues with freezing. I've just had to take a zen approach, fold my legs and meditate before my games, and rub a jade buddha between quarters. It's working so far so I'm gonna ride it out.
Exactly, as to holding off getting the game(s) until Nov. & Dec.! I Stated the same back May/June. I said the only way one should get the games on release day should be based on getting a deal.
I did for NCAA & I am getting a deal on Madden. I know i'll have to wait until the patches and tuner sets are out to really play the game.

Patience.......

I just don't understand how we don't have at least a tuner set yet.

I agree, they have been releasing tuner sets only with patches so far. My thought is then what is the point of tuner sets?

NHL guys have delivered when it comes to tuners. Wish NCAA team would learn from EA NHLs pretty solid tuner track record.

Personally I plan to save then rename each tuner on my portable usb drive in case some undesired effects occur on later tuners, if we get any. I wouldn't be surprised if the tuner coming with this patch will be the only one. Would make the feature useless id say. I'm sure Madden will have the same beef. Makes me wonder why all the EA Sports subdivision companies don't share the same thought process in regards to that. I'm sure it would create less of a headache here if they released tuners in the way the NHL team did.

I just hope after the patch/tuner debacle that was FNC this year NCAA doesn't suffer the same fate.

Agreed. I was excited about it when they brought it up last year, but then I had to change the way I played after each one. Tons of potential, but I don't think it will be used much this year. Once or twice. Once they start the main push on 13, I don't think they'll be coming back to 12 for anything.

NCAA team could learn a lot in general from the NHL and FIFA teams.

Not to go OT, but I don't like hockey or soccer and I'd almost buy those games because they are so good.

I have to chime in here again. I've been a console gamer for years. I've been an NCAA Football series gamer for a long time dating back to PS1. While 2012 isn't the worst game of the series I just am not having any fun playing it. There's way too many issues with the game right now.

I can't believe they released this game with so many problems. Where are the employees testing this game? I mean it seems to me this game was at best minimally tested. Why test when you can leave this up to the consumers? Is that what EA Sports has as a policy?

Here we are waiting for a patch. We don't even know what of the problems can be fixed. We are well almost 2 months since release of this game & it's not an enjoyable game to me. It's always wait for the patch before going overboard. I don't wanna hear that anymore.

We should be having a fun & enjoyable experience but it's not happening. Instead, we are left hanging without any answers. I'm sorry but I don't have any respect for the EA Sports team anymore. They ran into hiding on these very forums once the game was released. Vacation was the excuse?

Poor customer relations is all I can say about how this situation was handled. It's time we step up & put a stop to this. Stop buying these games & let them know we're tired of it. Show us this game can be tested thoroughly & effort is being put into getting out a fully working product. It's obvious this hasn't happened!

I did just that. Other than recent World Cup tourneys I never watch soccer. I barely understand the game, unlike football. But the video game is really fun. I liked the demo so much that I literally traded in NCAA 12 and bought FIFA 11. Now I'm looking forward to FIFA 12,

They seriously need to address the issue of your entire defensive line at times getting pancaked all at once (even by much inferior offensive lines) and they also need to increase the awareness of your offensive lineman when they pull.

The game plays well enough to keep, but there are just a number of little things that hamper the experience. I won't hold my breath though...

Did these updates ever come out?

Wow !! can't get over reading all the negative on here after just playing one of the best football games I have ever played online and I'm 45 yrs. old ...was just a random unranked game and we both played it like your suppose play a football game with no cheesing and neither of us were the best players in the world ..Me Air Force and my opponent Michigan st. and it went back and forth the whole game in a good defensive battle ... then tied 10 to 10 heading into to OT and after 4 OT's !! I finally won and we both ran much better offenses in OT....Great game / instant classic

I have alway's said I think it's tough for EA or any other company to impress every different crowd that plays this game ...I only play online and I if I find a good opponent that's my skill level and plays the game right "That's when I easily get my money's worth" with this game, but everybody is different

I also think that a lot of people do not have a good knowledge of all the different things you can do with the pre-snap adjustments in this game to take away the things that your opponent is killing you with ...Heck !! I still don't know everything, but I continue to learn

I never go into these football games expecting perfection, but if you played video game football 30 years ago "like I did" ...You would have a much better appreciation as to how far these games have come

I wish I could still play real football sooooo bad, but father time has taken that option away : ( ....Sooo this is the only kind of football I can play these days and it easily satisfy's my fix

Thx EA

Just my 2 cents

See, the problem is that the quality and amount of options and presentation has actually taken a step backwards since coming into the current gen of systems. I understand that point above but the games should not be regressing.

Alot of this problem could be solved if NCAA Football had some competition. Luckily, it looks like the days of the exclusivity contract are going away. Thank God!

Well actually I think their exclusivity contract with the NCAA ran out in April. I know they signed a contract with them in April of 2005 and never heard of anything about a renewal with them. So I dont think EA and NCAA are under contract anymore unless it runs out in December which isnt far away either.
