NCAA Football 12 News Post

EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

I don't think wa has any control of when its released. They send it in and when its done its done, no matter what game is coming out.

I'm just referring to the posts I'm seeing within this thread. People aware of the NCAA issues, ready to shell out more money to EA.

Madden is always a first day buy for me. And I don't think I have ever had an issue that speed me from playing the game like ncaa has. Plus I think madden is a higher priority title that won't be full of bugs. I hope im right. Also the fact that I haven't been able to play football bc of ncaa issues makes me want madden even more.

I really hope they don't wait till after Madden is on the market to release the patch for NCAA 12. There's no way I'm touching this game after Madden is released.

Unless Madden is even more broken than this game was...

I try to stay positive but I feel like if the patch was slated to be out tomorrow there's no way they wouldn't have announced it, and like many people here I doubt they'll release it on the same day as Madden. Unfortunately, I feel like we're looking at a first Tuesday of September release, which really sucks.

After this year, NO EA football game is a day one buy for me. Never thought I would say that either.

I'm vetting madden day 1 because I payed for it 2 months ago before this game came out. After madden I'll never buy another EA game release day. I honestly think madden will be great but who knows. It looks really Impressive but I guess well see

That would be a whole lotta trouble.

I'm just praying that EA fixed all the fatal bugs and doesn't add any new fatal bugs. There is no reason for fatal bugs in any release, but especially a console game with no modability and quick fixes.

(Fatal bug meaning crashes/freezes, and not anything to do with percieved gameplay).

Also, I really hope this does not make this game feel like NCAA 11. I like the gameplay and really, the big elephant in the room left is the lack of weight, momentum and physics with which the players move.

# 771 Herky @ 08/22/11 11:18 PM
Doesn't EA usually announce when a patch has been submitted and then it's about 2 weeks after that is when it releases?

If there is no announcement soon I think that it won't be out until mid September. If they announce something tomorrow that would put it at Sept 6th and patches I believe usually come out on Tuesdays.

I just hope they are taking their time fixing things. A patch in the works this long by all accounts should vastly improve the game, and we all know there is a lot to be fixed. Also we don't need a patch that breaks other things so time is key.

Perhaps the tuner set is going to be released along with the patch and that's the reason for the silence from EA as well.

Same here. More than likely not buying NCAA 13. They're really really really going to have to win me over. It probably needs to rate higher than a 9.25. And then I'll wait about a month to see if it has as many bugs.

meh, i just want to hear what they've added in addition to the original patch notes.

I've already switched my pre-order on Madden to Uncharted 3. Like many others have said, I am also done with first day/week purchases of any EA Sports title. I was as excited for this NCAA as I have ever been, but there is literally nothing new in the game that works like it should. It doesn't give me much hope for Madden.

Even though I've found great sliders -- I'm still severely disappointed with EA's lax timing on this patch.

I think part of the problem with the corporate world today is everyone is way to positive in meetings and nobody wants to offend each other. They might disagree with something that is said but they dont want to look like the jerk at the table so they keep thier mouths shut.

I saw way to much of that in the making of show.....was it all for TV.....maybe, but I have been in meetings like that and I just cant keep my mouth shut. I dont care, if I hear a crappy idea I just say, "Yeah but I dont think it will work because of this." or "Well have you thought about what will happen if this....." and its funny as hell to watch people freeze and figure out how to recover.

This team needs to get a tongue lashing and that is all there is to it. It wont happen thought because the marketing did an excellent job of making sure we saw all the positive additions and kept the negatives in the dark. I think a huge indication this game might have alot of problems started at E3 when it was shown behind closed doors and was not out on the showroom floor for all to see.....shoulda known after that. Sales are up this year and the team will stay intact......goofy smiles and all.

I am enjoying the game....but I am still in a "practice" dynasty waiting for the patch to save the day. My friends want to do an online dynasty but with all the problems reported we ae holding off, and the idea is loosing steam with Madden around the corner. I also hope they patch as much as possible so really I dont mind the wait it that means a meaningful patch is in the works.

I had Madden pre ordered, I cancelled it. I'm probably getting rid of NCAA tomorrow for deus ex. Just sick of being insulted. I couldn't even get through the menus of dynasty mode w/o it crashing, and we have to wait a month+ for the patch. Screw it, I'm done. I've been going back and forth for years now about getting off these games, and this is probably the year that did it. I just can't justify paying $60 for a game that is released in this state when they are the only option. They owe us more for that reason alone.

# 779 weeeeeeez @ 08/23/11 03:49 AM
I've been playing NCAA since I was 8 and has always been a day one purchase. Like many others have said that is now going to end next season. They need to get rid of this whole engine IMO. The blocking has been terrible for years now and seems like they never want to change it. The atmosphere has been the real game killer for though. I've tried all the custom settings but with the crowd going dead for most of the game and after big plays it just feels wrong and atmosphere is teh best part of college football for me. Going to do the smart thing and trade it in for store credit for Battlefield 3. Can't wait for FIFA 12 though.

When people such as yourself(and myself) and others who have been on this site for the better part of 10 years MAINLY due to NCAA football series, are saying things like this, it's really bad. I began viewing this site in '01 and joined in '02 for the sole purpose of this game.

EA's gonna learn you can only pull the wool over our eyes for so long. Once you tick off your longtime audience, you've done something really bad.
The only thing saving them is that this board, as big & important as it is, still doesn't make a dent in the public perception of this game.

We can't even trust EA when they say things are fixed now! WTH is up with that? It's one thing to simply not fix an issue....but to tell us something is fixed, and it's not, or it's fixed in a shoddy manner is poor business.
