NCAA Football 12 News Post

EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

I would be extremely happy if NCAA13 had NO new features but everything worked the way it was supposed to and they just fixed the games issues. I don't need to see a Bulldog on the sidelines but i would LOVE to see someone cover a 4 vertical seam route, or play an Online Dynasty without having game results be changed once the week is advanced.......oh well, i guy can dream i guess.

Why would releasing it before Madden affect sales? If the patch doesn't work like it should people won't buy Madden?

It's pretty telling that I have read this exact same post from people every single year, and every single year we're again bombarded with new features or 'improvements' that do nothing to fix the actual gameplay. When will they listen???

Nice I can cut those 6'6 4 and 5 star receivers down to size... I mean look at all the awesome 6'6 receivers there are in NCAA and the NFL... maybe a handful, maybe

They won't. Obviously their market research has told them to optimize revenue, they are better off adding new features and leaving broken features broken instead of investing the resources needed to fix reported gameplay issues.

Bottom line, if they fixed the gameplay to produce sim like stats, and play an all around better game of football, most of their fanbase wouldn't even notice.
A) What % of games call they 4 verticals 20 times per game and are proud of beating the AI?
B) What % of people want to just play online and have no penalties, fg's be automatic, and no QB overthrows?
C) What % of people want to exploit the game and win at all costs wheteher it be online of offline?
D) What % what a true sim like experience?

I don't have the numbers but I bet market research tells EA
A) 20%
B) 20%
C) 50%
D) 10%

I come home every day from work and turn on my PS3, insert NCAA 12 and for 10 seconds I'm filled with anticipation. Than, I see the cheerleaders and mascots and I realize the game has started and no patch. I turn my PS3 off and do the Charlie Brown sad walk out of the room.

Yeah this sucks..1 and a half, almost 2 months without a needed patch

I guess no patch today by all the posts I'm seeing. Bummer, I'm stuck at my bowl game for season 1 of my Dynasty waiting to continue it until the patch. I already played 2 full 4 years of RTG and I can't bring myself to do another one. With Madden available for me to download on Friday I might end up not playing anymore NCAA this year at this rate. Especially if the out the door product of Madden 12 is better than NCAA 12 was.

And this ends the streak of day 1 purchases for me. Though I do enjoy this years game. Two months for a patch is ridiculous. Stopped buying Madden last year and am probably never getting it again (just can't get into starting sports games once the season is half over). Now it's just down to The Show, NHL and well, I guess FIFA counts, not a soccer diehard but I do pick it up within the first couple months of release now since '10.

WHat time of the day do patches normally drop?

# 811 Jm0ney2001 @ 08/23/11 05:38 PM
I think patches can drop anytime. But usually in the morning

# 812 tflash81 @ 08/23/11 05:59 PM
Usually early morning, but I don't think you'll have to worry about that for 2 more weeks unfortunately.

Did I miss the "Patches ONLY come out on Tuesdays" memo? I've had plenty of games get patches released anytime during the work week.

It's hilarious reading through this thread and seeing how many people miss this point. Patches do not equal store updates.

EA Sports really knows how to make good impressions I mean does it really take 2 Months for a patch to come out I mean at least give us something like a date that would be more appreciated then just at the end of the month come EA! Hopefully Madden isn't the same for I can't believe it is taking this long

Yeah but even if that were true, if the patch was anywhere near coming out this week don't you think it would've been announced? When's the last time you saw a patch just appear out of nowhere?

# 817 ggsimmonds @ 08/23/11 06:13 PM
What confuses me is that the very first post of the thread went into quite a bit of detail and even pointed out that we would not need to redo rosters or restart our dynasties. This led me to believe that the patch would arrive quickly. I was under the impression that the problems were largely resolved and it was now an issue of testing and then getting the patch cleared.

They've already stated what was going to be in it, why make another announcement about the release that they may or may not live up to? And, besides that, if it's been submitted already EA has no control over when it's actually released - it's up to Sony and MS.

Also, I'm pretty sure there wasn't a whole lot of warning about one of last year's patches...I remember Madden and NCAA patches dropping on the same day last year (in the early morning hours) with little or no prior announcement. I'll do some digging to try and find the thread on here.

Then EA could let us know where the patch stands. Granted, they announced that it would release before the end of the month so it appears to be on schedule so maybe the reaction from the community is a bit unwarranted, but have we heard anything regarding the patch since the initial announcement? Even if it is along the lines of "sorry guys, ran into a problem. Patch is delayed until second week of September." That would still be preferable to silence.

With Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Deus Ex, Fifa 12, NBA2k12, Batman Arkham City, Infamous 2, and the other 20+ excellent games I have or getting. I seriously think EA football has to come out blowing my mind next year to get any business from me.

Personally I think I will go on a game buying strike and finish all the different games I have yet to complete.

Nothing worse than wanting to get your Online dynasty started with your friends and you can't because the game RELEASED BROKEN!!!
