NCAA Football 12 News Post

EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

ROFL thats exactly what i thought when i got the email about their VIP package. I get to pay EA to beta test their game 3 days early? Sign me up!

I think you make a great point, however, I think Ben and other EA reps could be more honest and genuine. I think a great comparison is our very own forums. When people criticize the came in a fashion that is immature or rude, they lose credibility and are possibly banned. I think Ben, in his interview, came across in a manner which blew off the complaints. Personally, that's a slap in the face.

That is how I took his interview after watching it.

I'm enjoying NCAA 12 thoroughly, and it's due to being a PS3 offline player this year. I have experienced only a few hiccups which have caused moderate frustration.

Well...

This year has completely taken me off "the hunt" for the rest of my NCAA playing days.

Why should I pay 100 bucks or so to get a game a week earlier than its release date....when the actual game won't be fully functional until September?

Ugh.

So I listened to the interview that Ben Haumiller did with (dead pixel live) and i can honestly say I am more pissed off now than I was before. He's laughing and joking like everything is cool. Well everything ain't cool, I haven't touched NCAA FOOTBALL 12 since the day I heard about the roster glitch, and won't until the patch comes out, of which by the way we have no idea when that date actually is. He's happy about how many games they sold. WTF! What about being upset with putting out a product that most of the consumers are upset with. He was way too Ha... Ha... giggling and **** for me. Give me a damn date, address some the issues that people are having before fans of your title stop supporting EA entirely, I know for a fact I wont be buying MADDEN and I'm terrified about purchasing FIFA 12 just because of the experience I have had with this game. Sorry for the rant but I had to say something.

I can't keep defending. This game is F'd up. So many damn bugs. Features old and new are screwed up. People say this thread is crazy, but look at the damn game and I can understand everyones frustration.

4 Vertical is money every time.
My QB is in quick sand on a speed option.
Certain plays, the DB will stand there and let my QB run past him.
If I wanna give DRob a wristbands, he plays completely different.
Custom playbooks kill the game.
Can't get past the start screen.
Boston College/Va Tech doesn't register.

Idc who you are, a game should not ship w/ those bugs! Simple crap! I understand everyones frustration over the bull****. Everyone here could not buy it, and it wouldn't make a dent in EA's pocket. The casual fan , I doubt notices half of those things. Just when I was starting to give EA some credit and cut them some slack. Thank GOD something tells me to never get rid of my Xbox and NCAA07.

./end rant.

You do realize that most of the bugs you listed is going to be addressed in the patch, right? Look, the guy said the patch would drop before the end of August and based on my calculations, we've got 8 more business days before that happens. Unless he's flat out lying, then what's the point of getting your undies in a bunch?

# 667 bad_philanthropy @ 08/19/11 11:54 AM
I'd really like to see fixes for all the issues with custom conferences.

A smaller fix I'd also like to see is for the weather during the Big 10 championship game. It's just ridiculous that you're playing indoors and yet everyone is bundled up and you can see the players' breath like the heat is turned off.

My point was that those are bugs that should have been caught. I named all those bugs on purpose. I'm not ok like others of accepting a game is unplayable until a month after it drops. I've learned my lesson and will go ahead and wait until the first patch to buy '13. Sorry, it is my fault for paying full price and not expecting a half assed game.

It's the sign of the times, dude. Consumers have now been thrust into the role of testers. We should really be pointing the blame at Microsoft and Sony. If they started fining publishers for releasing buggy products, then you can bet there would be more focus on QA.

I have a feeling that when this patch drops in September that
It's really a pity we have to wait that long to have a playable game. I know about the process but the game was released on July 12th & we have to wait 2 months for fixes? Heck, they might not even be fixes for certain things like you said Chia. It's just poor consumer relations.

That's all you can say about it. This game was botched! There was very little testing because we are the testers. It's time we put a stop to this stuff & quit buying games on release dates. Put a lock on our wallets & show them we're not gonna allow it to continue! Thanks!

Didn't the Dev team take a week vacation after the game came out?

So whats the over and under on if this patch will be out on the 23rd or 30th

I believe they normally only release patches on Tuesdays right? Could have that wrong, I always forget this every year until EA Sports games remind me

# 674 sccavs64 @ 08/19/11 02:05 PM
Yeah they usually only release them on tuesdays, except I hope EA knows that we just want the patch ASAP and we dont care what day of the week it is!

# 675 War24 @ 08/19/11 02:07 PM
This whole patch thing is really got me thinking twice about Madden12. I have not seen most of the issues which most of the OS users are seeing and I actually enjoy NCAA 12 (preowned purchase of course), but I know the routine from previous years and it is getting old. You get so excited for these release dates then you have to wait months before the game plays right or at least reasonable. Sad thing is NCAA is already placing a dark cloud over Madden which seems to have some serious potential this year. I don't want to wait till Christmas to start a decent dynasty in Madden like in the past. Whatever happened to the good old days when people would just boycott when they were unhappy? All these incomplete game releases and lockout stuff in professional sports would end if people just stop putting up with it. We don't buy, they don't make money. Result changes are made.

P.S. EA, please give me a reason to put my NFL 2k5 to rest forever. Please. I really want to. Really.

IMO typical nonsense from Ben and this entire dev team.
Get really active on boards etc up until the game comes out. Put out a marginal product with broken new features. Say a patch will be out in August..then back it back until September. Release no tuning packs. Drop off the face of the Earth news wise on the same boards they were all over in June/July...move on to NCAA 13. Lather rinse repeat. If the patch is going to take more time they better be adding things to it like the busted scheduling/Custom Conference issue etc.

If not EA will throw the customers a bone and put out a patch that doesn't fully fix the game

Hopefully this board and customers in general learn a lesson next year and don't rush out to buy the game right away..put EA on notice we aren't going to tolerate this anymore. 2+ months for ONE patch and one that may not even take care of all/most the game's issues?

Just awful.

Poor form EA.

They only time EA throws us out bones on a consistant basis is when they are trying to real us into buying their games. Notice all the stuff still coming out about Madden the past 2 months were as the only thing we hear about NCAA is that they had great sales numbers and we might see a patch the end of August, then dead silence.

The patch isn't coming until sometime in September. That would be an OVER!

It's negative PR in two ways, first off in general some of the issues (not all) are not evident to a certain group of people. In the sense that if your not 'looking' for the glitch you may not realize it. I've seen a lot of people say that they can't look at the forums because it makes them hate the game / notice it's flaws more pointedly. In a business world, they are risking losing a sale if they have a big list of 'Worked on glitch A, Bug C, Crash D etc.' Rule of thumb is to never sell your product short aka constantly bringing up updates on a patch. Not to mention there is still a slim chance that it's sitting with Sony and MS right now. In the interview, Ben couldn't say it's with them because then it puts the fire under MS/Sony's *** and that runs a chance of hurting a business partnership.

I would love some transparency but any sign of weakness especially if another legitimate contender in the sports gaming world surfaces they cannot do such a thing. They want the consumer to perceive that the game is perfect even though we know it's far from the truth.

A lot of their angle i believe is the old adage "underpromise, overdeliver", which is somewhat funny considering they do the opposite BEFORE the game is released....
