NCAA Football 12 News Post


EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

So what would we all do if they did release the perfect football game? Then next year there is really nothing they could do to make it better because it is already perfect.

IDK how I would feel if they released the perfect game and I knew it was perfect, then next year I know I am going to get the exact same thing....

Ding ding ding....why buy next years, I already have the perfect game!

Any...word...on if I have to re start my dynasty or not?

Or can I go ahead and start one and the patch take effect during it?

You asked this not 20 minutes ago, a couple of posts up. No need to post the question again. Try using the search thread feature if you aren't getting an answer fast enough.

I have a bad feeling the freezing is going to continue. I've had it in 3 of 10 games in my dynasty so far. While the game was loading, while the game was exiting, and one after the first play of the second half. So it clearly can happen at any time.

It's this right here. I didn't buy Madden 11 I thought that I wouldn't be able to go the whole football season with out, since I've been playing it since the SEGA Genesis. I didn't miss it at all. I'm all in for Madden 12, but if this game doesn't do it for me, I'm pretty sure that is it for me.

For what ever reason this version of NCAA has kinda upset me. I think it plays really well on the field. Not perfect but a pretty good game. All the bugs, and hearing why the game didn't get tested properly have turned me off a bit. I'm one person, but I think that I am reaching the apex of my frustrations with next-gen football.

I had gone several years without buying Madden or buying it but giving up on it after a few weeks. Wasn't really a big deal, I survived. Played some APF, played some text sims (Strat, 2nd and ten, FOF, etc). Got outside and surfed more, watched more games, etc.

Shame the patch doesn't appear to be doing anything to sort out the awful audio in the game.

It would be to big of a patch to fix audio and the freezing/roster issues.

I'm sure 13 will get an audio boost with Fifa's sound technology.

I decided to try writing a blog and my first entry is somewhat related to what you are getting at here (in sig).

With a yearly game release, EA is almost better off having "room for improvement" each year. If they were to put out that tru gem of a game, folks might be content just updating rosters for a few years. It would destroy future game sales. The only way around this is a subscription based model, where the concept of a game each year really isn't valid, just an updated/patched version.

^^This. Exactly what I have been thinking that games like these -that come out yearly with some "improvements" and roster updates- need to come to.

What are the audio issues I usually play with the sound down while listening to podcasts and such.

Bk, sometimes there is dead silence.

Before Phil left on the Madden side, he said Madden and NCAA will share audio from Fifa's sound technology, but they didn't get to it this year. He said it will be addressed in 13 on the Madden side, I wouldn't doubt NCAA puts it in.

Gotcha. I haven't really liked the audio for years so I turn it down.

The psychic DBs in this game are worse than last year and the superman linebackers are worse, too. It makes the passing game almost impossible and incredibly unrealistic. This HAS to be fixed. If it is not fixed, this game is getting traded in. It's getting to be ridiculous and a game-killer. You know what would fix this problem? Real-time physics. But that's like pulling teeth on here, so I won't mention it further than that.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I HAVE TO RESTART A DYNASTY FOR THE PATCH TO TAKE EFFECT? OR CAN I START ONE NOW AND NOT WORRY ABOUT IT?!

You'll have to restart it, especially with the roster glitch being fixed.

I never start my "real" dynasty until the first patch and tuner set come out.

Findings = 90% of the time the slot will get open as each safety chooses which receiver to take but the length of throw will decide if safety can recover in time. Take the less deep approach and you can get 20 yards pretty consistent. but 4 WR streaks SHOULD do this to Cover 2 zone all day.

3) 25 Yards
4) Incomplete

Findings = Something is wrong with the safety read on cover 3. The Strong safety comes into play the middle zone to short leaving a huge gap between Free safety and Corner playing deep. So you can pick away at the slot WR on that side the field pretty consistent as you can see the last several throws. If you go opposite side of field you will have tougher more realistic results considering 3 vs 4.

Cover 4

Findings = Cover 4 completely shuts down 4 verts period. Each deep man takes a WR and with length of throw it is a very low percentage if you will get on through. Cover 4 vs 4 verts will stop it all day.

Cover 2 Man

Findings = Cover 2 man will hold 4 verts in check. Each WR having a man running along side will stop most passes and if the deep ball is thrown the safeties will get over in time 9 times out of 10. So there is a chance to get one to the slot between the safeties but it is much harder than cover 2 zone.

now do the following and video tape it

LSU offense (Shotgun 1 only vertical choose Wide our L WR or Wide out R RWR. This way the excuse 4 verticals vs 2 S is ok to complete 50% won´t work)
vs
LSU defense (Dime package)

10 Passes against each defense all with 1 R or L Wide Out WR going streak.

Against Cover 2 Zone

10)

You will notice how the SS or FS (depends which side you choose) will hesitate to cover the deep or the slot wr. And will leave the Wide Our WR wide open. Don´t throw the ball fast, let the WR run and beat the SS/FS

My bet, you will Complete 50% passes or more.

And 2nd..

When is 3rd and long or the game is expecting for the user to go deep DON´T CALL COVER 2 ZONE CPU...We are in 2011. I´m expecting a little more from you.

Losing by 4 points.. 48 sec left in the game.. on my 40yds. Don´t call Cover2 Zone against a 3 or 4 WR package.

That´s the other problem with the Deep ball. The CPU Logic to call plays on the last minutes of game.

Make sense?
