NCAA Football 12 News Post

It should come as no surprise that the community has found some issues with the game -- I really do feel like the folks here really are the best testers money can buy, even if that is not really what they set out to do -- and it has begun to split the community a bit.

That being said, I wanted to ask some of our writers how they were feeling about NCAA Football 12 at this point. Even knowing about some of the bugs and issues we know about now, how are they liking the game and the experience it is bringing to the table.

We all know games are going to have glitches and problems some big some small. The problem with EA is that all of the new features they hyped up this year all have severe bugs. Roster editor, custom playbooks, coaching carousel all have unnecessary bugs that kill the fun of those features. Cpu pass rushers using no special moves and always rushing to the outside. The fact that the pre-release patch messed up jersey degredation and overall graphical quality and not to mention the nearly silent crowd. Is the game fun with default rosters yes but their is no way these problems should exist. I could give them a pass if this were the first time they made a football game or they totally rebuilt the series from the ground up but they didn't. I expect because they've showed they can do better.

The demo of the game was at least a month old. I don't get why people are saying the retail version is so much better than the demo. It should be because it was a old version of the game.

The people who contributed to this article must not use named rosters either.

i like the game but i could be a lot better. my issue with it was i got to the bowl season and number 4 boise state was playing 1 miami for the title and number 2 stanford played in the rose bowl. i like the game i will play it but come agustus 30th i just might have to trade it for madden.

My sentiments exactly. I wonder if all those reviewers would be servicing the game and EA if they had plunk down $65 of their own hard-earned money for it, instead of receiving a complementary copy.

EA should patch the commentary/ play by play/color commentary. IMO this is EA's biggest misstep this year.
Other sports titles have spoiled us with above average commentary. when other developers set the bar, one shold try to match it or exceed it.. Other wise a solid title could wind up being just avaergae because of a subpar feature

,IMO this is what makes the game just average.

EA please dont do this to Madden also. the commentary better be robust, lively and above avaegae. There are enough stories and stats in the NFL to have commentary last several decades in the virtual sports franchise world.

Ditto! I like to keep up to date on any info (patches/updates etc.) that is coming out, but the saying, "What you don't know won't hurt you" kinda rings true here as I would enjoy the game much more without knowing every little bug or quirk of the game before hand...I like to find them out on my own if AND when they should pop up.

They put out a completely flawed game that even looked just like last year's game, hyped up features that don't work properly and took everyone's money. Yes we aren't forced to buy the game but we were lied to because we were under the impression that these things were either fixed or worked.

The amount of bugs and glitches this game has is beyond ridiculous for them to consider this a final product ready for sale.

They have a TON of work to do for me to even consider buying the game next year.
I dont excuse the fact that the game has issues. But not once did I hear anyone say every feature was gonna work properly on release. Yes they never stated the that they didnt work, but like you said no one put a gun to your head and told you to buy. Your argument became ******** when you stated that the game looks the same. No offense to the mentally challanged.

will not consider buying this game until after a patch comes out and reading the feedback about it

And did you really just excuse them by saying, "But not once did I hear anyone say every feature was gonna work properly on release."

Going back to someone's car analogy that'd be like a company hyping up a new sound system technology in the car and it not working correctly. Would you find that excuseable? Of course not so why should we excuse a video game company for hyping up features that don't work?

As others have stated, its to the point where we've become the testers for the game. We sat here and listened to Ben hype up their new features over and over and over and over and over again only to find out those new features don't even work right. But you seem to just want to give them a pass because its a decent game if you can see past the mass amount of bugs.
I can find just as many people to subjectivly agtee with me. What does someone elses pair of eyes work better than mine? Not arguing that the game has bugs, but going back to my previous post saying that im sure they will ne fixed. Its a 60$ game not this grand technological advancement eveyone is psyching themselves into. 60$ cmon man! Its a game and im just having a ball with it.

I'm watching from the sidelines this year. It's the first time I haven't purchased an NCAA game day since I was a kid. I've followed the chatter on these boards, and it's more than reinforced my decision to stay away. I came close to caving in a few times. But, eventually you see the same song and dance so often, you reach a breaking point. I may consider this years game after it's been properly patched. However, by that time it may be too late.

I just finished playing 2 games in my current dynasty with Gator/Buckeye's roster.

Screw it. I am having too much fun and enjoying the game immensely.

When they patch it they patch it.

In this case ignorance is bliss as the game is a ton of fun and plays well despite some of the frame rate issues.

I am just going to stay out of the NCAA forums for a long while. Game is playing fine to me.

Its wierd how some people defend this game..giving it 8.5 and even higher...I actually read somewhere on this forum that NCAA 12 was better than NCAA 13 and that joint haven't even came out yet...lol

Indeed. Same here. Besides the NCAA forums have just turned in to the same 5 guys repeating themselves with the same complaints and same hyperbole over and over again. A few of whom I dont even believe have the game. Which is a shame because they are drowning out the guys making actual points and actually trying to figure this out.

I actually think this one would look rather fetching if it were changed into a pictograph. The english isn't quite there, but if it were done in pictures, it would then totally work.

I didn't even know about this bug until I read your post in MKHarsh33's slider thread where you mentioned something about having re-start using default rosters. I then ventured into the main NCAA forum hub and found 80-plus pages of comments.

I was having a good time with the game, both with default and named rosters. I understand that bugs pop up in these games. The thing that has me upset is all that there's the possibility that all the hard work the roster-makers put into giving us FREE rosters may be thrown out the window. I would feel real bad for those guys if that were the case. I'm hoping EA can fix the problem without forcing users to re-input 120 teams' worth of names/equipment, etc.

So yes, while I am slightly annoyed that this issue does exist, I am still enjoying the game.
