According to Pastapadre and Kotaku, Phil Frazier (Executive Producer for Madden NFL) is the latest to leave EA Sports Tiburon.
Quote:
"It is currently uncertain where he is headed however two prime possibilities are Row Sham Bow – the new social gaming company started by former Tiburon GM Philip Holt – or the massive social gaming company Zynga which has taken on several former Tiburon employees in the last year."
There's better ways to get that point across though....
I agree but I also think that the developers should have thick skin when it comes to criticism especially the mindless kind. I would assume that it's the MODs job to keep these threads civil but the developers shouldn't flee when things get out of hand.
So you're justifying and advocating the venom and vitriol aimed at the devs by people? People are justified in personal attacks on devs because they don't like the game?
I help the show get better. I got the water cam in for AT&T. Lol So I was hoping we would be able to do the same with EA.
I would grant that game had/has great community interaction and it worked/s. BTW, I only had 09. Did you get anything on that? I only had my PS3 for like 2 weeks. Can't remember! LOL!
Maybe those people "returned the volley" by spitting in the devs faces (so to speak) because that's what they felt was done to them, and they were just returning the volley. I really don't see how the developers could have expected anything else. Madden 10, after years of frustrating titles, didn't live up to expectations, and then Madden 11 also was a lackluster effort. That's going to upset people and the devs had to have known that. They also needed to be prepared for insults because everyone on video game forum isn't going to be an adult, so you can't expect everyone to act like an adult. The mods will take care of those posters.
This is little more than conjecture in an attempt to justify one's bitterness to the debate over Madden. There is no excuse or reason to react in a verbally violent and venomous manner.

I can't go with you on this one. There is no excuse for imbecilic behavior. No matter what you think of the game, people need to be respectful.
I'm not saying that everyone will be. There are obviously idiots in the world, and to pretend they don't exist is just foolish, but it is one thing to accept that some people will be rude, and another thing entirely to say that it's justified. If that's what you are actually saying.
Like I said before, the devs need to treat those comments with the attention that they deserve, which is absolutely none. They are just dudes on the internet and they should not be bothered by the idiotic comments, but that doesn't mean that theose idiotic comments are justifiable in any way.

It was beyond out of hand. It got downright personal.
Community interaction with the devs isn't a bad thing. The problem starts when expectations aren't met. Some of this is the fault of the user who has expectations that are too high, and some of the are the fault of the devs for getting people's hopes up. There have been lot's of things that were promised by the devs that either didn't pan out they those things were touted, or this things that were promised were missing all together.
The problem was never the interaction with the devs. The expectations that the interaction created were not met, and without getting into specifics, essentially, people expected change to come from the interaction. The expectation was that those others games wouldn't be worth mentioning anymore. Clearly, since game comparisons quickly ruins threads and thus warrants an infraction, the interaction didn't really change anything. After all the blogs, videos, live chats, podcasts and what not, nothing changed.
Maybe Ian, Phil, and the rest of the team (unknowingly or not) bit off more than they could chew. That was a bad idea, but I would still welcome developer interaction. The developers just need to know that everyone on this forum isn't an adult, so to expect everyone to express themselves in a mature manner isn't practical at all. LOL, what do people this is is, a forum full of people investing in real estate ?
Since when do sales suggest that a game is a good game? With your logic Justin Bieber is a great musician; Avatar is the greatest movie of all time, and Twilight is a good series of books.
Also, what makes you so sure that everyone who is upset Madden actually bought the game. Many people on here chose not buy the game because it wasn't up to their standards. That doesn't mean they forfeit their right to voice their opinions.
You bolded out my Direct! I'm all for it, in the proper scenario and with professional distance applied. I like the intern idea. Then a drop in by the actual responsible developer for the specific wishlist and saying "we've got it." That's the least problematic way, IMO. Then a follow-up vid saying "this is what we did" would be cool, too. Then we are heard, there are less modding problems and the temptation to get too big for your britches and getting the "BanHammer" is negated. That's all I'm sayin'.... Personal space..... Stay back! LOL!
twitter is the next phase of interaction....i spend time reading their tweets & tweet responses to get my info much more than hoping to see anything OS might have
and twitter allows you to block the clowns...very nice way to interact with the consumer base
I was raised to respect people. So I never slam on people or devs for that matter. But just like anything I am sure they are used to it. It seem like it comes with the job.
Whether they are used to it or not, or it comes with the job does not make it appropriate though. I don't recall ever slamming Ian or Phil, or anyone else that came here because I respected them and understood that if they could do exactly what they wanted to, then the game would more than likely be a lot better. These guys are just like us and want their game to be better every year. Some times it is easy to make some changes we request, other times it is hard and near impossible, or just plain impossible.
I don't really know where I am going with this , so I'll just say this... I never have nor will I understand what these people think personally attacking the devs will accomplish.
You might want to re-read my post. No where did I justify anything.
Again, the devs, since this is a video game forum, aren't purely interacting with adults. There will be children on here, so if the developers want to interact with people on this forum, they have to expect that there will be some childishness.
Good backtrack. Hardly the only one who noticed what I did. At least you're consistent.

Yeah, I watch Beluba's tweets. Waiting for some juicy NBA2k info. So far Dirk getting some love is about the biggest I've seen. That's what I'm talking about some built-in space.....

But you conviently left out the 1st part of your post which is entirely wrong. Sounds like I'm at the ok corral. You made a lousy game, now, ready, aim fire.

I have to disagree. Valid criticism gets run over by a truck here quite often. And with developers and game designer, it gets personal. What I mean is, you put so much into something that harsh criticism is taken personally. It's human nature. And there are a lot of people on OS that attack ANY criticism. It does happen quite frequently.
Not personal attacks, and they also happened here and far to much of it, is intolerable.
What I am talking about which led to a loss of dev intetraction had nothing to do with valid criticism. As others have said, the devs were actually threatened with physical harm. It was so venomous and so personal it was truly unbelievable. I don't blame them for abandoning ship.
I've had plenty of criticism for this game but I am not going to call a dev a POS because I don't like some design decision they made.
Some people are just spoiled little babies. At least at OS we don't have too much of those. But a lot of the members remember football games on the atari 2600. So we are happy with Madden.
Had that, Intellivision, too. SportsTalk, etc....For their time they made me very happy. So did Atari Circus and the little teeter-toter.Heck, I didn't hate E.T. on the Atari as much as the rest o the civilizedworld did. I am happy enough with Madden to buy it. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that I'm more happy with NBA2k and Fifa. I'd like to be equally happy all around. Not too much to ask, no? Maybe that is in all of our mutual futures. That's all I really want....
Like I said, personal attack are not justified. But if you put out a sub par product for as long as they have, while any alternative are taken away, then you have to expect angry customers. Again, personal attacks are not justified.
The other products not being there had nothing to do with the devs. This was far beyond just angry customers.
