NCAA Football 12 News Post

Kotaku's Owen Good chimes in with some of his thoughts surrounding the latest micro-transactions to make their way into NCAA Football 12.

Quote:
There may not be any optimal time to tell gamers about all the microtransactions and DLC for which they can expect to pay extra in an upcoming release. But the official reveal of a game's main features -- the stuff folks expect to come with the $59.99 retail price -- would probably be the least optimal.

They aren't going to offer this service for free. They aren't. They will either get enough people to buy it to cover their expenses and make X amount of profit, or they simply won't offer it in the future.

Expecting that this would be included with the 60 dollar cover price is pollyannish at best.
There is a 0 percent chance I purchase this DLC. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to buy the game yet, but them adding DLC does not help their cause. I have no problem passing on NCAA 12 if it comes down to it, I've only bought one of their games this gen (NCAA 11). Complaining about something then still buying it is lol.

Yeah basically what I expected from you.

Not true. The people who flat out make things up or make huge reaches to make their point have an obvious agenda. Wonder why you are so defensive?

Why are you always trying to label people?

Either someone has an agenda, a persecution complex, is defensive, or any of the other million negative labels you like to use. Stop it.

If the label fits....

If what I posts hurts your feelings that much put me on ignore.

My feelings aren't hurt at all. It's pretty much the standard "argument" you use. I'm just curious why you feel the need to constantly do it. Why was I not surprised when reading through a thread about DLC in Madden 10 to find you doing the exact same thing.

Because the agenda hasn't changed? Like I said put me on ignore if your feelings are that hurt.

Best Thread Ever

I think its hilarious that one guy wont drop it and everyone else is making sure he wont drop it.

Like I said before, Im buying the game so long as they dont charge me for offline dynasty. Other than that, good luck with the microtransaction crusades!

I know how to ignore someone.

It is what it is though.

Someone posts something you disagree with they: have an agenda, are complaining to complain, etc.
Someone posts a source you disagree with: it isn't credible, doesn't count.
Someone points this out they: have hurt feelings, a persecution complex, or are being defensive.

It seems like it's standard operating procedure for you though. You won't own up to it and you'll continue to do it. Oh well, whatever. Moving on.

Get you pitchforks folks off to Activision we go.

Or is it Ok what they're doing because they're not EA?
And do you see all of the comments below that that are giving them hell about charging for this? Exactly.

Anyway, that is not a fair comparison because that is pretty much prepaying for map packs, and in fact, probably getting them cheaper than you would if you hadn't been a member (one time $15 fee vs. 2 or 3 $15 fees). Anyone who would pay for the Elite bundle would most likely IMO buy the map pack anyway, so you're actually getting more features for your money in the long run.

So it's ok when Activision does it? I rest my case.

Why are you so worried about what I post? Hmmm...

BK its not the same. Activision is taking it to another level. This EA computer bonus stuff is fluff.

Ahhhh. It all makes sense now.

If we should be upset about something its that map bs. (not that I give a damn about call of duty lol)

This dynasty thing is getting too much burn on these forums. It is taking absolutely nothing away from the game if you dont buy it. Your paying for something the disk doesnt support which calls for the extra charge. Computer access for dynasties isnt something im interested in but hell if guys want it for their enjoyment, EA will give it to them for a price. America at its finest.

So a monthly subscription fee is A-OK but, a one time $6.99 charge is not. I understand completely.

You must have a really thick wallet.

So I actually read the entire IGN link...they are charging for Bungie.net COD style? Genius!

No it's not. I am unhappy with it but it's a totally different genre that has competition so I have no need to buy that game every year. Anyway, I thought that I had implied that by me saying to read the comments on the article and see that the majority are unhappy with it? I forgot I have to clarify things a little more in this thread.

I don't think it is okay at all, but the comparison is not the same as that fee is pretty much prepaying for map packs. It's another comparison/analogy that is not comparable to this special circumstance EA has. Once again, there are plenty other different FPS war games I can buy every year, there is only one (each) NFL and NCAA game each year.

Monthly sub fee? Can you guys even read? The activision was a one time fee of about $15 from what I understood and it's not even definitely being charged! And it would give future map packs (which cost $15 each) for free to you as part of the subscription.

It's not even the same as EA anyway but just drop that. And NO ITS NOT OKAY ACTIVISION is doing that but this isn't an Activision FPS gaming forum, it's NCAA.

I love how the only defense for what EA is doing here is
'well, other companies do it'
'it's only $3'

Sometimes when everyone is doing something, it isn't necessarily the right thing to do, ya know?

Can you read? That article quite clearly says it's a subscription service.
