You must have a really thick wallet.

So I actually read the entire IGN link...they are charging for Bungie.net COD style? Genius!

No it's not. I am unhappy with it but it's a totally different genre that has competition so I have no need to buy that game every year. Anyway, I thought that I had implied that by me saying to read the comments on the article and see that the majority are unhappy with it? I forgot I have to clarify things a little more in this thread.

I don't think it is okay at all, but the comparison is not the same as that fee is pretty much prepaying for map packs. It's another comparison/analogy that is not comparable to this special circumstance EA has. Once again, there are plenty other different FPS war games I can buy every year, there is only one (each) NFL and NCAA game each year.

Monthly sub fee? Can you guys even read? The activision was a one time fee of about $15 from what I understood and it's not even definitely being charged! And it would give future map packs (which cost $15 each) for free to you as part of the subscription.

It's not even the same as EA anyway but just drop that. And NO ITS NOT OKAY ACTIVISION is doing that but this isn't an Activision FPS gaming forum, it's NCAA.

I love how the only defense for what EA is doing here is
'well, other companies do it'
'it's only $3'

Sometimes when everyone is doing something, it isn't necessarily the right thing to do, ya know?

Can you read? That article quite clearly says it's a subscription service.

And sometimes, your opinion is not the only opinion that is right, ya know? You can liberally throw competition into the mix, but others can't bring up other companies into the mix?

Seems one-sided to me.

You guys have to be trolling. Once again, I'll state.... WHAT OTHER COMPANY CAN I BUY AN NCAA OR NFL FOOTBALL GAME FROM ON MY XBOX 360 OR PS3?

You are comparing another company, in a different genre, with a totally different DLC than what EA Sports is offering.

How is that one sided at all?

Did you even read my whole post? You would realize I mentioned the fee of $15 in my second sentence.

However, actually the only part of the article that even mentions subscription is...

Quote:
So, you're probably wondering if Elite is free or if it will come with that rumored subscription fee. Activision says there will be some free features, but for the complete Elite experience you'll need to have a premium membership. How much will it cost? Activision isn't saying but claims it will be "less than any comparable online entertainment service." Included in your subscription will be all future downloadable map packs. Non-subscribers will have to pay the $15 or whatever the packs cost, but subscribers get them at no extra charge.
So, it doesn't "quite clearly say there will be a subscription fee" because they don't even know if they will charge for this. Also, it doesn't say anything about it being a monthly charge (which was what my response was to) and alludes to the fact it will be a one time fee (maybe annual fee, no where would monthly come into my mind). This fee also covers map packs which are $15 each, so if the sub fee is $15 one time or for a year, that would mean you would effectively be paying $7.50 each rather than $15 each and you'd get these other services. So it would be cheaper to prepay than it would be to just pay for the map packs. That's just pointing out the fact you'd be saving money if you did it this way rather than buying each pack separately.

That being said, it has nothing to do with what we are discussing and yes I am against Activision DLC as well, but not as much as I am against EA because I could just buy battlefield if I wanted to instead of the COD franchise to get my war game FPS fix. To get my NCAA and NFL fix I have EA and .... who exactly?
