MLB 11 The Show News Post

Okay everyone...this is the initial release of the Operation Sports Full Minors.

We'll call this one the "Spring Training" version.
I will caution that the MLB should be entirely correct and the minor league levels will be a bit "raw" until the actual minor league teams get their assigned players and we can incorporate it.

The lineups are projected...a lot from you and a lot from other sources...for the "Opening Day" set...they will be more precise.
The minor league lineups will be set when their season begins.
We will also fine tune the FA list for the Opening Day set if necessary in the second release.

*************NOW HEAR THIS....NOW HEAR THIS...************

I have never reported a post. NEVER. I have no "ban hammer" mod status either. But I'm just putting this out there right now......that if there is one post that that in any way demeans one of the editors....by saying "this is ridiculous"...."what a joke"....or anything that isn't presented as a constructive criticism or suggestion I will bring on my own version of an e-nuclear bomb. If it's my work...blast away, but these guys have done a TREMENDOUS job in getting this set out in "record" time....and IMO each and every one has done top notch work.
You can criticize....but keep it polite...that's all I ask.

Each and every one of these guys deserves a hand......and Ridin' and I couldn't have done it without them this year.
In no particular order
alexbraun, the blackbra, bodhiball, TNKNGM, sink4ever, El Mayimbe, oldgoldnblue767, sweett310, Vin, theaub, CWPalehose, tribefanisu2003, PSULions, GreatNorther47, Karle, Ivanhoe, Rwings, mhag4f, cnelly, bergie56, juicer240, MNPuckett, Apostle, Throwback, WB1214, ltw0303cavs, authentic, KJWilliams, TripleThreat, athomp, SergioRodriguez13, bdolski, Qb, ChaseB, GoBucs, tree3five, ilstu, GTATrifecta, slthree, cmorris25, nkrause, franch1se....and I simply cannot stress enough how much Ridin' did once again on this set. Everyone....TREMENDOUS WORK
That being said....this is also the first time we've had so many hands working on this and it's tough to catch anything and everything that might be noted when it's just a few guys working on it. We'll need a little latitude towards errors that would need fixing....

I also want to thank Steve_OS and of course Operation Sports for allowing us a venue to bring our work to ...and have others share in it. Kudos all around.....

....and finally ...thanks to you guys for all your feedback and patience throughout the process.

Okay....now the nice thing about a "beta" release is being able to fix things and with player import...that's easier than ever. So we will be open to hearing suggestions and fixes. Bring it to our attention and we will fix it.

OFFSHOOT
Here is a link to the O.S.F.M with only 25 players on the 40 man rosters...this will be your first step in no lineup shuffling ....with either 1 team or 30 team control. Keep in mind....with 1 team control...there is no way to add the 15 players to the 40 yourself...and with 30 team control, you'll have to do it on DAY 1 of the regular season(or any time after before the Rule V draft)...
Thanks to HUSTLIN' OWL for these!

http://www.sendspace.com/file/xu89ou

Here is how to keep the CPU from shuffling your lineups
There are 3 ways with using 30 team control.
First...you must create a profile that gives the lineups/rotations MANUAL for any team you want lineups to be under your control.

1.- Use a roster that has only 25 players on the 40 man roster. Hustlin' Owl has created one and the link is above...With this....if you use only 1 team control......you are locked into having the CPU teams having no more than 25 men on the 40 man roster. If you use 30 team control at any time AFTER spring training is over...you can add the 15 players to the 40 man roster and the CPU will not juggle lineups/rotations. In all cases....the CPU will still sub in lineups for fatigue

2.-Using a roster with the 40 man roster full....play/sim Spring Training until the day BEFORE the final day of ST.....go through each team and manually send down 15 players(make sure none are in any lineups/rotation) for the CPU teams.....No need to take them off the 40 man roster. The lineups will remain intact when going into the season now.

3.-The obvious....wait until DAY 1 of the regular season and set the CPU team lineups/rotations....they will stay and only be changed for fatigue.....be aware...you will have to reset them due to injuries for the CPU teams...

Here is how to manually injure players
-You must put INJURIES on MANUAL....and INJURY MANAGEMENT on AUTO for the CPU teams(if one team control...it is already on AUTO)
-Go to the DISABLED LIST.....Use L2/R2 to cycle through the teams(1 team or 30 team control)...use the L1/R1 button to go to the roster for injuring players....click on a player and give him an injury....
-With 30 team control...if you have injury management on AUTO...the CPU should put the player on the DL.....you can do it by going back to the DISABLED LIST screen and placing them yourself. With just 1 team control.....the CPU will put the injured player on the DL...you cannot do it yourself.

Unbelievable. Each and every person that worked on this needs to be commended. I couldn't begin to imagine the work it takes to get a project like this done, but thanks to each and every one of you for all the hard work.

Just to be clear, will there be an "Opening Day" set? Just wanna get all my ducks in a row before I start my franchise. Also, I have a couple questions on how the CPU deals with injuries:

1. If I left the injuries alone, I.E. didn't add any injuries to any players, would the CPU put those players back in the rotation/lineup, or will they be left where they are at the moment?

2. If I add the injuries to the players, will the CPU put them on the DL (should it call for it), and when their injury time is up, will they be incorporated into the rotation/lineup properly?

Think that should be it for now....once again, great work fellas...

First, Thank you to everyone for helping to get this roster out even before the first pitch of opening day.

I will be providing my "opening day roster" tweaks for Detroit to Knight and Ridin around April 8th which is when the AAA and AA opening day squads are set.

One thought though; I notice that you indicated that Bobby Seay should be placed on the DL for Detroit. Bobby Seay is NOT included with Detroit in roster which is correct as he was granted free agency by the Tigers on November 10, 2010.

Thanks again to everyone.

Some of the stuff on the Padres surprised me. I must've missed a lot while I was gone but they sure have a lot of former major leaguers that appear to have popped out of nowhere (like Mike Koplove). I'm surprised that they all have an A potential (especially Aaron Poreda, who honestly looks more and more like middle reliever who can't locate his pitches). Maybe I'm just harsh when it comes to most Padres minor leaguers the closer they are to the MLB level.

My main disappointment probably lies in the fact that Lollis was given a C in potential (it's just my opinion, but he and Sampson probably have the highest potential of the low level pitchers), but you know what, two fellow fans put their time when I couldn't do so and it's a lot of work to even get these players in. For the most part the rosters looked good, but I really wonder how you all managed to make the former major leaguers names uneditable. Thanks for the hard work everyone. I finally get to start my RTTS.

Did you check to see if the A potential players who are former MLBers have SCEA face scans? It could be that the guys who put it together used the player vault trick with a CAP (thus the A potential) so they could get the accurate face.

If they are older, the potential score won't matter much anyway, as they won't get a bump regardless of their rating....which might be why they potentially sacrificed accuracy of the potential grade to get the best face possible.

I figured that's what happened.
Wouldn't be surprised if a few other teams got an SCEA makeover as well.
Personally I'm going over all 30 teams and tweaking everything anyways.
And most of those Mariners edits I plan on keeping so it just means less work for me.

Anyway, I am tired and falling into a stupor.
Will get after it some more in the coming days.
I want to help more with next years Mariners sets.
My participation in it this year was akin to an aloof supervisor who just shows up randomly throughout the week handing out extra assignments and pointing out flaws in things. So yeah, I want to get my hands dirty next year and actually help create, not just dictate.
Thanks for putting in serious time, Apostle.
Hope I never came across as overly critical in the OSFM Mariners thread.

If they are older, the potential score won't matter much anyway, as they won't get a bump regardless of their rating....which might be why they potentially sacrificed accuracy of the potential grade to get the best face possible.
Yeah, that is true (i.e. the Mark Loretta/Matt Stairs rule, where even when they had an A-potential because of their age it didn't matter as they still regressed). If that's the case with the former major leaguers, I think that's pretty cool that the game recognizes the players. I didn't get to see or read the stuff while the rosters were being created two weeks after the game came out so I wasn't familiar with what the roster editors were doing.

Little to say other than a massive thankyou to Knight, Ridin and EVERYONE else involved in putting these together.

It truly takes the game to a whole new level.

p.s. Karle, you did a fantastic job with our Tigers farm

Knight, you nailed Carlos Triunfel's face...stunning. Easily the best of the M's set imo

Just an fyi on a couple of things for the Mets. Brad Emaus was given Josh Thole's #30, Emaus has taken #4. Also, pitcher Pedro Beato has #21 and the number he's using is #27. Great work, these edits probably were tough ones seeing how both Emaus and Beato wore spring training numbers and hadn't been assigned active roster numbers. (Emaus was#68 and Beato was #70 this spring I believe.) And again Great work everyone!

This set looks great. Thanks to everyone who worked on it.

I just glanced at a few teams and I wanted to point out is that OF Jarrett Parker (Giants) has F potential. I know that potentials are subjective, but Parker has a ton of potential. I have him as a B.

He was the 74th overall pick in the 2010 draft. He probably would have been a late first round pick or a high supplemental round pick if he had returned to Virginia for his senior season. I know that draft position doesn't mean anything, but based on his skill set, that would be perfectly fitting.

It would be great to see him get a makeover. He's a plus defender, has plus speed, an above average arm (almost plus) and above average power. His power could really take off. He has a few holes in his swing, but they're minor. He has a really good approach to hitting and the holes in his swing could easily be corrected. He could easily be a faster version of Hunter Pence with more range, better instincts and the ability to track balls better.

Not really a complaint, just a simple mistake. Whoever did the Twins made Jim Hoey, but they have him throwing a 90mph fastball, he actually sits 98-100 on his fastball.

Just a quick question. Did the CAP MLB players with MLB experience make it into the rosters (i.e. Bartolo Colon) with the correct heads? Hope that makes sense. Thanks. Later

Thanks for helping! When I first started, I was thinking this shouldn't be too hard to pump out one team. Well, I started and it was taking me about a half an hour per player, and I wasn't even doing faces (not including research time beforehand). Without your help, I would probably still be working on them, and everyone would be hating me. So thank you! Also, Knight, thanks for letting me take the Twins this year. It was a blast and I can't believe that you used to do this by yourself or with a few people helping. It is truly an amazing project, that from the looks of the downloads already, might possibly be a holiday for the entire world, no matter religion or beliefs.

Great job on my Royals. The prospects are all pretty much in line with how I would have them. I can't wait to start up my Franchise and put Moustakas in on opening day.

Yea, I agree. I'm surprised that I made him an F. But I know all about him. It's really tough to justify him being a B for this set. I needed to be fair in my assignment of potentials for the rest of the set and honestly, the Giants system is ranked poorly right now. You probably know as well as I do that the strength of the system is sitting in the low minors, but that does nothing towards the rankings they're given by most experts.

Parker probably has more tools then Brown does too. I was lucky to get in as many B's as I did. I think they're were 6 or 7. And with Peguero, Brown and Neal all getting B ratings as outfielders, I just couldn't do anymore and not feel like I was being a homer. I also need to include D's and F's, for some guys, I just had to bite the bullet.

The best thing about the rosters this year is that you can import individual players. If I end up helping out with the player packs, I'll make a better Jarrett Parker to include. If not, be sure to make a request to Knight if and when he starts taking suggestions.
