NASCAR The Game 2011 News Post

I received the game this morning at 9 AM. Please keep in mind, I have only raced 4 times so far and practiced at another.

I am going to answer as many questions as I can that have already been asked, then will keep posting impressions and answer as many questions as I can. I have my PS3 in my office hooked up to the same monitor as my PC, so I have to switch over, so If I don't immediately respond to something, it's because I am on the PS3.

On to the questions, from the other topic.

I wanna know how are the Graphics compared to NASCAR 09? I really can't get a good grasp from the videos. Thanks.

IMO the graphics are a bit better than NASCAR 09. NASCAR 09 was a nice looking game, but I think NTG11 does a better job here. There is a very natural, organic look to it, almost like MLB The Show has. The color palate is there, but it's not too crisp, or overdone.

The car models are nicely executed, and tracks look beautiful.

1. I think we are all wondering about the difficulty of the game and if what we saw in the videos was on some easier level. Is the game more realistic than what the videos may have lead us to believe?

2. Is there a true career mode, or is it just a season, and how does that work?

3. Do you get the sense that you are at 30+ different tracks, or does it feel like most of the tracks run about the same?

1. I set the difficulty for the AI on the highest at Tally, Daytona, and Texas. They were very competitive at Tally and Daytona, and Texas were just better than me....flat out! What I really like so far about the AI, is that they are aggressive, but not cheap. They understand that you are also on the track, and try to be cautious of their surroundings. They did bump draft with me at Tally and Daytona, and I could do the same with them...and there was no sign of them being disturbed by it.

2. Have not jumped into career mode as of yet, but will give it a run as the day progresses.

3. There was a nice difference in the feel from Atlanta, Texas, Daytona and Tally. They didn't feel that same at all, and based off early impressions, they did a nice job trying to individualize and realistically replicate each track.

Pre-race presentation-Is there a full pace lap with the driver/grid position rundown like EA did a few years back? Very tv-style touch that was very nice. Also, any featured drivers pre-race?

Wreck/caution-how long is it between the wreck, caution and going into the pace lap? Time enough to 'go thru' the wreck if it happened up in front and you're in the back of the pack, or just 'there's a wreck' and then two seconds later in the caution lap?

Keep in mind, I have not done season or career, but in "race now" option, there was no pre-race or any presentation. It literally took you to the race about 100 yards away from the start finish line.

In regards to wrecking, you get to watch the whole wreck. It doesn't take you away to a cut scene instantly. I was in one at Tally, and it seemed like it lasted 20 seconds, and I was in one at Texas, and it only lasted about 10 seconds. Then it gives you the option to pit under caution...if you choose no, it takes to a few seconds before the green flag drops again.

I am very curious about the realism of the track surface. For example, Are there bumps in on the lowside of turns 1 and 2 at Las Vegas? Do the bumps upset the car and make you create a setup that can handle those bumps?

That leads to my other question. How much does messing with the setup actually change the feel of the car? When the track rubbers up, does the car get tighter?

From what I have seen, the bumps feel like they are barely noticeable. I felt a little bit at Daytona in turns 3 going into 4(keep in mind its still Daytona 10 on my copy) but nothing that really forced me to white knuckle the wheel at all. When an AI car gets into you, you notice that a lot more than any bumps on the track surface. If you're hoping to really feel the surface bumps and have it effect the car....probably not going to be real happy.

I will say the the driving model is really well done though, and you truly feel connected to the track surface.

Ok, going to go test some more, and try to get some photos, but videos may be very difficult. I am trying to find a way to do it right now. I will be back in a few to answer some more questions and give some solid impressions.

Did they announce when they were going to (or think they're going to) release the patch?

Also, this is my first post, but thanks to Blue and all for reviewing the game early...I was hooked on this thread before the game came out.

I posted this in another topic on the board as well. Sorry I can't post the link I haven't posted on these boards enough to do so.
Well this is great news. Thanks for posting this info.

I just read the original post on the Nascar the Game forums. What's going to happen is they are going to work on each item one by one and as they are fixed they will update the status at the link below.

http://forums.eutechnyx.com/threads/...ed-03-31-11%29

Once the items are fixed and the patch is tested, it will then be sent to Microsoft and Sony which could take some additional time till it is available for download.

My guess on a time frame is roughly one month if not a little bit more.

Hey Guys,

I'm a huge NASCAR fan and will definitely be buying this game. I've read here and other places that the XBOX version has more bugs and problems than the PS3 version.

I do own both systems.

Two questions.

Is there a list of the differences in the versions and bugs so I can compare the 2 versions?

Also my only wheel is the official Xbox steering wheel so what version do you all recommend for me? Would the better option be to to buy the game for the Xbox with my wheel even though it's more buggy or get the PS3 version to use with the dual shock controller?

Thank you in advance and thank you for all the time and effort and knowledge that everyone here shares.

J.

I could be wrong, but I think this is the first time that a developer is giving us a day by day update on the progress of fixing issues. Gives me a lot of hope and credit where it's due to Eutechnyx.

I would absolutely have to agree with you.

Leaving my copy of the game sealed but hopeful that I won't want to return it once I see some bug fixing. This reminds me a lot of F1 2010 -- when it came out, there was A LOT of criticism but lots of people now think that's a pretty good game. I'm guessing F1 2011 will probably be awesome.

I, for one, am very pleased at the company addressing the issues in a timely manner. That shows great customer service on their behalf and the drive (no pun intended) to better the product.

I was a little disappointed in the bugs and flaws of the game. But I believe if they manage to fix the major issues, this could be a quality NASCAR experience. I am not expecting to be sim like anymore, and just take it for what it is. There is fun to be had with this game, if the problems get resolved.

Thanks for standing by your product!!! The consumers appreciate it.

Their quick feedback is really encouraging. I hope they are able to pinpoint these bugs and take care of them.

I have the game at home waiting to be played. Can't wait to join the fun.

I just bought NASCAR the game 2011 for the ps3 on my hdtv. The game is not terrible, but not very great either! I don't think it's that great a leap from Nascar 09 by EA. The main issue I see is that there are way too many jagged lines making the graphics real poor. I can barely tell which is car is which two car lengths ahead of me! It is not crisp and sharp at all! I am using an powerful hdmi connector and the HDTV displays other games really sharp and well! Does anyone else experience the same issue and if so what can be done?

Euetchnyx is for sure a stand out company. They are not cash cows and they want to make the game as good as possible, this was posted by Dave Thompson on the Eutechnyx forums. With these fixes the game will be great, especially the fact that they are STILL adding this that we want.

Sorry, just realized this was posted a page ago... Face palm on my part..

I have to echo the statements I've seen in this thread around green flag pit stops being a bit off. It seems that when I do go in that I leave the pits in much worse shape than I would have anticipated. I've multiple times gone from 1st to last, and not just last but almost lapped. I'm not sure what is causing this but this might be something the team should look into.

That along with a caution almost every time the computer tries to go into the pit makes green flag pit stops useless.

From Pastapadre.com today re: the release version of Nascar The Game 2011- "this is about as close to a retail product being a beta as you will find."

Yeesh, those be fightin' words right there! LOL.

I haven't bought or rented this game yet, but I am planning on making the purchase once the 2nd patch and 2011 DLC are released. I am very encouraged by Eutechnyx's prompt response to the community and motivation to quickly fix their bugs.

That said, I am totally appalled by what I have seen so far in terms of bugs and glitches. It's amazing to me that this many prominent problems made it through testing to the release version of the game, even after the game's release was initially moved back.

So yes, I am impressed that they really seem to be going for it in terms of patches and fixing bugs, but that in NO way gives them a pass for the atrocious release version of the game. Despicable.

My eight year old has played nascar games on ps2. I pop this in, and he watches me race at Daytona (big wreck) I go to pit and that is the first thing that pops out of his mouth. How come they aren't fixing your car? Even he knows this should be in the game just from the old nascar games he's played!

# 1276 chrisasst @ 03/31/11 09:03 PM
They should fix a few at a time and release several patchs. We could also post the good things so they don't mess with them.

Is anyone else but me experiencing heavy jagged lines in the overall graphics? Also what happened to the picture in picture camera view on the upper right hand of the screen?

I'm glad to see they're so committed to working on it. Once question I have though is whether they will work on or if they can do something about the tire wear indicator. I know other have said how hard it is to see and I'm assuming they have good vision. I don't have good vision and have to practically put my face on the screen to see it and even then, it's still a challenge.

I'm blown away with how good this looked 8 years ago. How are the games not at least as good now? I noticed in these videos the AI actually attempted to avoid wrecks, instead of plowing on ahead into them.

I have PS3 also, and HDTV. Do you have your settings on the PS3 set to 720P? That is the game output for this one, so even if your TV is 1080P, I would set the PS3 at 720P. I only tried the demo on Nascar 09, but this game blows that one away graphics wise.
