Ah, the sweet sweet nectar of small-market progress.

My top 5 would be as follows:

#1 Red Sox
#2 Phillies
#3 Rangers
#4 Braves
#5 Yankees

# 23 Jays20593 @ 03/01/11 04:22 PM
I'm actually shocked the Jays are that high, but that's a pleasant surprise

Uhhh, the Giants beat the Phillies in the NLCS and beat Cliff Lee twice in the World Series. There's your explanation.

The Tigers are well deserving of 6th! They have a very good all around team. And they have a lot of star power (Cabrera, Verlander, Scherzer, Valverde, Jackson, etc).

Pretty good offense, potentially great rotation, and a lights out bullpen. Solid team all around!

it's not hard at all to see why the giants are rated higher than the phillies. it's the same reason they are better in real life, as well.

starters (including blanton) are overall just about equal to the giants starting 5.

giants have a huge advantage in the bullpen, with wilson and a mix of great relievers like affeldt, romo, lopez, casilla, etc. while the phillies pen seems like their weak link.

phillies are probably ranked better offensively, but not by much, considering they lost werth and guys like rollins and utley were not so good last year and are getting older.

The Padres at 20th. The bullpen must be the main driving factor to why they're not 25th or lower.

It's kind of funny, the team trades away Adrian away and they get better. If he stayed, they would probably be 30th and have not improved at the middle infield positions or centerfield.

I won't complain. the rankings are a reflection of the overall ratings of all the 25-man roster players, with the starting position players and starting pitcher having the most influence.

Philly has a great rotation but their offense took a huge hit losing Werth and their bullpen is weak at best.

Philly's outfield is near the bottom of the league and whoever listed Rollins and asked who has someone better at SS is crazy. Rollins is a career .272 hitter that has been declining in huge steps since 2007.

The Rangers have one of the top offensive lineups in the game and a solid rotation. Actually kind of easy to see them rated higher than Philly.

Giants I can see them giving them some love being the defending champs but I think they had one of those magical seasons last year and are probably over rated. However, they do have a solid rotation and a decent offensive lineup.

That honestly, in real life, made me laugh out loud. I might be able to even win a fair amount of games online with them this year!

The A's are definitely top 20 in my opinion. Good Starting Pitching, good bullpen and some nice offensive additions.

Ha! Finally some D-Town love

My other 2 teams (SF and CHC) are pretty much where I expected.

You know we are my man, you know it.

Add in the likes of V-Mart, Benoit, power arms like Zumaya/Perry in the pen etc, we have a real shot this year.

You have to also remember, most of these ratings are separated by a very slim margin. And take into account the entire roster (40-man) from bench to bullpens.

How the heck are the Giants ranked so high!?!??!

They have two aces and a good young catcher with a top 3 closer. Outside of that they are trash how the heck are they rated so high.

I dont know about you my fellow A's fan, but i see us on paper and see maybe our best team talent wise in a decade. our depth is very good too. i think that with our new strength and conditioning coach on board maybe we can not spend as much time counting player visits to the DL but counting wins.

being ranked in this game as high as we are (8TH AL, 16th over all) is a big plus... i see good things for us both in the game and IRL.

The Brewers thrive on mediocrity. Nice to see them nestled right in at #15.

# 40 CuseGirl @ 03/01/11 05:10 PM
I know the Giants won the World Series but they were FAR from even 8th best in the league, so how have they risen to 3rd?
