All I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW! I don't understand some users saying it looks exactly like or a bit better than '10? To me it's a huge difference in every aspect of the game. First of all the sky looks SICK changing from a sunny day to dusk to eventually night since i played a 0-0 game going into the 8th! The cutscenes look more realistic as well as the sounds of the crowd which seems to be more into it even when a close pitch is called either in favor or against the home team (being the Giants). The use of analog with pitching, batting & fielding makes the game play much more realistic. I will agree with most that it is very hard to hit only getting 3 or 4 per game. I have played a bunch of games so far coming up on the losing end more than winning but '11 seems to be much more realistic & fun. To all you button-mashers out there, get over it! Franchise play is gonna be a mission this year but the overall game is much more fun. I cannot wait to sample the game come March 8th visiting EVERY ballpark which means getting the kinks out before I start my franchise. This demo should hold me over till March 8th but it's gonna be a long 2 weeks!!!

Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression from my brief amount of time playing the demo that the direction in which you swing will determine where the PCI is placed. I have missed pitches because I flicked the right stick up and to the right instead of up and to the left with good timing.

[quote=econoodle;2042146265]more stuff:

- whats up wit the low res crowd behind the plate? Iran it with 10s demo and 10 has the full look, not blurry.

hope the devs can answer that one

I noticed this too in the '11 demo. Something happened with '10 in the course of the patches or something. i swear when i bought the retail version of '10, the crowd was high resolution in all views including outfield. then one day they turned to blurry low res and it was never the same and i had to start pitching from the pitcher view because in this view the crowd was back to normal...weird it tell ya. anyway, i love the demo, glad it finally dropped because is sold '10 some time ago on ebay to prepare for '11. after playing the demo, just like i thought, now '10 is now obsolete to me.

Wow. So I love analog pitching and analog batting even though I still need to practice both. But they feel right.

What DOESN'T feel right is analog fielding. My fielders keep throwing the ball all over the field. It looks absurd and not realistic at all.

My second baseman fields the ball close to first, so I lightly tap to first since he shouldn't throw too hard. It sails right past the first baseman. I preload on a ball to the right of the third basemen to start a double play, WHAM he fires it right over the second basemen's head. I haven't turned a single double play.

Can someone help me? What the heck am I doing wrong? I'm raging because my fielders keep making errors on routine plays. It's seriously driving me crazy.

i dont understand what some gamers expect! this game every years gets better & better, especially '11. its still only a VIDEO GAME, not real life so some of the whines are ridiculous! GET OVER IT!!!!!

my impressions are i love the pitching, i feel like i am in complete control. the hitting is going to take some getting used to, but it will come with time.

They could really do wonders getting the color scheme changed there (and around the entire stadium, in fact):

By the way, I'm iffy on Posey's stance at the moment IRL but isn't it closer to what Ross's stance is like in the game? I'm just trying to think of what to change it to when I get the retail version if I want something more accurate.

One thing I'm very impressed with is how the demo seems to always have the wind blowing in hard from right field. Good luck getting a shot in the water guys! Hehehe.
Posey's stance is spot on, IMO. They had it wrong last year. It's much more accurate this season. Posey does have a bit more wiggle in the bat, but Ross's stance in the game has way too much.

I love the Analog pitching and fielding but I'll probably go with the button hitting.

I also noticed that players tracking the ball with their heads is still not complete and I'm not feeling the responsiveness of OF's. I'm also wondering that if online, pitch meters will no longer be visible to the opponent.
The camera angles can be changed

I believe the move only works in homerun derby this year. So no it's not going to work in the demo.

# 351 WB1214 @ 02/23/11 05:55 PM
After playing it a few more time sit looks like the 2K games did something for me.. I'm already decent at hitting with the analog stick. It makes a little more patient too, which is good. Still working out the kinks with the back step, once I get that down I should be ripping consistently.

Even I go back to zone hitting, I know I'll keep the pitching and fielding analog, I like those a lot.

Where do I begin? This was by far the most, single handedly worst baseball game I have ever played. I am ashamed of what work was put in to this piece of crap game. I'm Just playing, I actually LOVED the demo. I must say that I was someone that was not looking forward to the new analog controls. But, the analog pitching came to me pretty naturally. I still have to get a little more accustomed with my accuracy as I had 75 pitches with Lincecum though 5 innings ( I lost in extra innings). But the analog pitching adds a whole new sense of reality and fun to the show. Because in years past, throwing strikes was like counting 1-2-3. But now, you actually have to hit your spot with the analog. And if you don't you will be punished for not doing so, in my case, was a lot of balls. Which in hindsight, makes the pitch counts more realistic.

One thing that in my opinion is going a little un-noticed, is the fan reaction in the game. I loved the fact that the fans would jump on the umpire for calling a strike a ball, or vice versa. As well, when it is a high pressure situation, the fans get louder. I must say, it got my heart racing at times haha.

The batting looks much more smoother, they did a nice job re-tooling the stances to look more natural and flow in the reality of the game. Great Job!!!!!!

Commentary was ehhhhh! I mean I do not hate it as some do, but it is not noticeable. I love how in NBA 2k11 the announcers have conversations and continue on each others points as the game goes on, if they only did that in the show.

I must say, this has the potential to be the best Sports game of the year, if not ever. That's right, I said it !

Yeah, I think I'm blanking out on what Posey's stance is like for some reason. I see every part about him except his batting stance, and for some reason I felt like Ross's might be more right for him but to be honest I just don't remember.

It always takes me a few pitches to get used to a new pitcher's timing, release, etc, especially when going from a righty to a lefty.
This was in last year for relievers, I hope it is there for starters to this year and not just there in the demo

I've officially retired MLB 10: The Show. You can't really ask for more from a demo. It's got most of the major new features: Analog, Co-Op, Custom Cameras, Improved Lighting, Balks, and even 3D support. They even included gameplay sliders that can be changed.

MLB 11: The Show Demo for all my baseball needs until March 8th!

I just hit a walk-off INSIDE-the park homerun with the giants in about the 8th inning. I was using both teams and only had 6 hits between the two teams. The LF dove forward and the ball missed his glove and went all the way to the wall. There was a play at the plate but the catcher had to come 20 ft. in front of home.

The announcer said, "Folks, I just seen something that I've never seen before."

Wish I could of saved the replay but it was the end of the game and no option too.

A little thing I just noticed, not sure if it's been picked up on yet.

If you sit and just watch the sky, either in replay mode or behind the catcher view, I seem to be able to notice the clouds slowly moving across the sky. I thought that was a really nice touch.

I see a lot of people happy about balks being in, but I do want to point one thing out that has already been confirmed from community day:

The AI won't balk.

It was put it primarily to combat quick pitching in online play, but it is for this reason that I'll be turning it off for my singleplayer games this year. Hopefully that can make it in next year, but there's definitely going to be some heavy coding involved to determine whether an AI balk could happen - and if I know SCEA SD, they won't settle for it just being a random event - they'd tie ratings into it somehow.

positive - drove one off the pitchers leg, he made the play, but after it he was hurt and the cut scene happened. Don't know how many times i'm smashed the ball off the pitcher and nothing happens.

negative - drove one down the line and was smashing L1 so that he would continue running to second, nope, runner decides to stand on first for a second, look around and then decide to run which of course made him get thrown out at 2nd. If I am doing it wrong, how do I make the runner just automatically turn the corner and head to second?

Love this, analog pitching and throwing is great, hitting no so much for me. Ill stick with classic hitting. Graphics look great. Basically i knew it was going to be like this, another reason why i said i didnt really need to download it but i still knew i would.
