What do you mean, stats? Like HR and RBI? or Contact and Power? You can just hit select and see it in a second.

I'm hoping they changed Miguel Cabrera's stance. Because Andres Torres from SF has the same stance as Cabrera had last year. They don't have similar stances at all.

I'll wait until the retail version to judge the graphics and lighting. I do like the new player models and the animations seem smoother. Last year the base running and fielding animations were quite choppy.

The option for the analog pitching and hitting is terrific. Although, it feels less sim. However, still very fun. I anticipate using both in franchise.

The analog fielding doesn't add much in my mind. It's not natural and doesn't add anything to make it better than the button system.

If the issues with trade and FA logic are fixed in franchise, this looks like a winner and legitimate upgrade from 2010.

What did I get myself into?
It's going to take about 29 hours to download using my Verizon Wireless.
I don't think I will be able to keep my signal that long.

keeping fingers crossed

It was put it primarily to combat quick pitching in online play, but it is for this reason that I'll be turning it off for my singleplayer games this year. Hopefully that can make it in next year, but there's definitely going to be some heavy coding involved to determine whether an AI balk could happen - and if I know SCEA SD, they won't settle for it just being a random event - they'd tie ratings into it somehow.

Awww...bummer.

I guess I missed that on C.D. - ah well - it's a step in the right direction and I realize why they put it in. It doesn't happen often, but it'd be nice to incorporate the A.I. next year.

Can we use the classic controls in the demo?

I can't settle due to having many options.

I like the graphics more when I pitch from catcher view but the trajectory of pitches are better in behind the pitcher cam

What do you guys use for both
I use a slightly modified Minn broadcast cam for pitching and Catch Cam zoomed in for hitting right now.

Yep. Under gameplay options. This is impressions thread though. There's a Q/A thread for questions.

The demo has impressed me a lot.The graphics are so crisp, the transition from late afternooon to evening is supberb. The player models are very good, certainly improved from mlb 10.The gameplay as usual is excellent.I have one lil problem though. Why is check swing there when you press the power swing button? Now this has caused me some problems.I liked the way it was in mlb 10 the show.Check swing was only available as an option when u pressed the contact swing button, and was not available when u pressed the power swing button. If any one knows how to turn off the check swing option when using the power swing button, plz lemme know.

I don't know all the attributes of all Major League players and I may be missing opportunities, for example, to steal because I have no idea how fast a guy is. Maybe the catcher has crummy accurancy/arm and my guy has marginal speed, is it worth the risk to steal? I have no idea because I'm not going to pause the game and dig through stats for 5 minutes for every situation. The game is slow enough already. Relevant stats and attributes should be in your face, all the time. The game would be so much more engaging.
If you really want all that on-screen...I think you need to be playing OOTP.(I'm not even sure THEY have all that on-screen).Seriously.
I'm sorry, I won't even say I only disagree with you here...I'm going against one of my own rules to say that you're just flat out wrong on this one. There is already ENOUGH clutter in games....Sorry.

I like the analog additions for pitching and hitting.....but for my franchise I will probably go back to Meter Pitching and Zone Hitting and Button Throwing

Totally agree. I even wish there was a way to use the new analog meter BUT have it not show up and go off of pitcher motions. What I plan to do is just make it as small as I can.
I want to be totally into the game and not have a constant reminder I'm playing a video game.

Absolutely agree with you here Knight... hell, I'd be happy if they could find ways to put even LESS clutter on the screen.

If by engaging you mean, cluttered and not being able to see it... then yes, LOL. Seriously tho, it only takes a second to see (press select ---> look to the left for pitcher stats, look at the right for batter stats. or press L3 to look at pitch sequence overlay when pitching or hitting) its all there and it only takes a second (literally) - look at 0:08 and again at 1:17 of this video. I basically pressed select for a second and I knew the new batters hot and cold zones, or pitch count or pitcher energy or whatever info I may have been looking for:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-DmIemXoKQ

notice I do it for every batter (or pitcher) - now granted in '10 the base runner attributes showed up on the start menu, but this year I believe they are all on the same screen, as well as on the base running windows.

Ok so I have a few "wishes" I guess you could call them:

1: The ability to full stadium range for custom cameras. I was just a little disappointed that there was a zoom out limit. I planned on having a pretty far zoomed out view for pitching. Almost like the HIGH fieling cam. Obvioulsy that wouldnt be for everyone but I wanted to try it.
Sure there was a reason though so not a big deal.

2: I love franchise and controlling players BUT I'd rather have the players ratings be 100% in control of the results and not partly due to my interaction. So what I usually do is play 1 game out of a series so I can get play time in and have mutiple games of just ratings determining the results(sim or MOM). That way my inept play would be ironed out by a few simmed games lol
MOM would solve the "have the players ability be 100% the deciding factor but no my need to also play.
What I'd like is the ability to player lock on either a position or player. That way I could play every game and just rotate a player to control each game. I'd also would LOVE an auto pitch feature so I could just play D when in the field and let the CPU control the pitching.
With that said I'm sooooo pumped for the retail version.
Bring it on.

If they ever did this, I pray they would have an option to turn it off. I would hate that

I love this year that they have multiple animations for balls in the dirt and when going after a strikeout approach unless you really just jam one in the dirty the catcher will block out in front. Yea I can use my change-up again lol

Also the weather wind effects for balls off the bat is outstanding the guys reallu nailed it as you can see a line drive pulled start to really tail away.

Also noticed the outfielders miss balls when diving unlike last year where almost 99% of the time is was that pop slide animations this year it goes off the arm leg head anything if they time it wrong or take to much risk on coming trying to make the big play which usually = *** and elbows get the running to the warning track lol

quick question...how's the fielding with the analog...I would be playing the demo but for some strange reason it's taking hours and hours (6335 minutes remaining) to download so I just canceled it...is it determined by how hard you push the analog stick to how much power you put into a throw and is it difficult to throw accurately?

# 400 inkcil @ 02/24/11 12:35 AM
I am disappointed that there is no collision detection for plays at the bag or at the plate. For instance, I was pitching with the Giants with a runner on third for the Rangers. Ball was hit to first and the play at the plate was anti-climatic. The catcher stood his ground and then the runner just morphed right through him and slid into home plate. The catcher did not budge, as if he had only been facing a ghost runner coming from third. For a second there, I thought that the ump would call him safe b/c I couldn't tell that the CPU engine even recognized that my catcher was blocking the plate with the ball...thankfully he was called out, but wow man, plays at the plate are supposed to be arguably the most exciting in a game.
