Madden NFL 11 News Post

I recentely sat down for a talk with FBGRatings.com's Dan Berens to discuss his site's vision and what's going on over there today. The site is currently working on getting accurate ratings for every player using real hard data converted into the Madden ratings universe. Dan claims that when these numbers are plugged into the game, it plays much better and much closer to real life. Check out the interview below and also check out Dan's website to see what he's got going on!

I have a question: You seem to have a lot of the base ratings for players (you can give 10 or so important ratings for any player requested), but why don't you put these up on the site? If it is time, that is one thing, but if you're just waiting for the sake of waiting, c'mon mayne! Haha.

I can pull them up at any time because I can calculate them at any time. However, I am still in the process of entering in the basic data for some 18000 players and that takes time. There are several stages to the project that must be completed in order. Search the previous pages to find out the schedule so you know when to expect the position-specific attributes to be added.

Thanks. I was just wondering why they weren't up since you can post them at any time. Like I guessed, time was the issue, and not just because you wanted to wait to a specific date.

Well the specific date did set the timetable. I want them to be released opening weekend, so I just formulated the schedule backwards from that point allowing for ample time to do the tasks necessary for a full release.

Just another update here:

Basic data is now complete for players with the last names A-Q and X-Z. This brings the basic data to about 69% complete for players currently in the database.

Just curious, when will you start doing the other ratings? By the way your site is awesome!

You can find the answer to that question in the pages of this thread. Thanks for the compliment!

You know I can't release OVR ratings yet! Check the schedule in the previous pages. The only thing I will say is that Tom Brady is NOT a 99 in the FBG system.

Another update here:

As of tonight, All player with last names A-R and X-Z have their basic data entered in. Only about 3600 to go and that phase is complete for the players currently on the list. Next to follow will be the rest of the 2011 class once those players are uploaded to the roster, which will be about 1800 more players.

Once all the basic data is complete, I will begin to review some of the raw attributes and fully fill those in. Once again, those are STR, AGI, SPD, ACC, and JMP ratings only. I will be adjusting them for most players in the league to reflect age, performance, and measurables along with scouting data.

After that, I will enter in all static attributes (attributes that don't apply to a player's calculated OVR rating). These are like KPW for QBs, BCV for DEs, and all other attributes that do not factor into calculating the OVR.

Finally, the remaining position-specific attributes will be included along with calculated OVR ratings. These will be released just in time for the pre-season should the NFL have a pre-season. From there, it will be just the minor adjustments to reflect player movement, suspensions, jersey number changes, and weekly ratings changes as the season progresses.

I ask that anyone who wants to argue for changes to the raw attributes please submit such arguments in writing as a PM. If you post requested changes and their arguments in this thread, they will simply be ignored. Some players will be obvious (like Chad Ochocinco's 68 AGI rating) so those will be changed. However, since it is almost impossible to see every change, I will be taking requests. You can see the raw attributes currently up on the FBGratings website by simply going to www.fbgratings.com/members and either accessing the "player search" button on the top of the page, or by looking at specific rosters via the "Team news, Rosters, and Depth Charts" tab on the left hand column of the page.

Happy hunting and I hope you all enjoy!

My apologies for the noob question but how will we be able to access them once they are done? Thanks.

You just follow the directions in my last post. You will be able to look at the players ratings. It's quite easy.

I've sent you a PM regarding not only Asomugha's ratings, but about man and zone CB differences.

Cheers.

Thanks for the PM. I sent you my reply. Please consider that the ratings are meant to be stretched out more and 90 attributes are for the elite. These ratings are not over-inflated. So if your guy isn't in 99s for everything, you will know why.

# 195 LHSLax_D24 @ 06/11/11 05:41 PM
I can only see each player's raw attributes? Was this by intention? I just thought because you were arguing about Asomugha's ratings, the basic data was on the site. I don't see anything there.

The raw attributes are the only ones up at this point. That is because I am still processing basic data for about 4000 more players. Once that is done, the other attributes will be added. The arguements are regarding a players raw attributes, which I have had many PMs about thus far. If you see any discrepencies with some of the raw attributes currently up, then feel free to let me know and argue what you think they should be. Keep in mind that 90s are elite, so not all players will have 90s for each attribute. Greg Jennings, for instance, only has an 89 AGI, 89 SPD, and 85 ACC.

New update:

All players A-S and X-Z have their basic data complete. There are only about 2000 more left that need basic data (POS, Ht, Wt, Draft Year, DOB, EXP, and College). The next step will be to fill in the remaining raw attributes. I am still considering changes to the raw attributes for several players. Please continue to send in any changes you think should be made with valid arguments for them (evidence only please). I have already made changes to a few as well so if you think some players have better SPD, AGI, ACC, or JMP than shown, then please speak up and let me know.

Once the raw attributes are completed I will being to do the attributes and overall ratings for the start of the season. The more feedback I get on the raw attributes now, however, the faster this process will be. Thanks again guys!

# 198 DCEBB2001 @ 06/20/11 09:31 PM
I am still accepting changes to raw attributes. Please look at your favorite team and let me know what you think. I am especially concerned with players who have outplayed their measurables. Thanks!

He was but I believe he was removed because he has retired from playing. He now runs a QB school.
