MLB 11 The Show News Post

What you’ll see is around 10 minutes of gameplay at Miller Park (which has actually been changed since this video was shot.) This is as close to direct-feed that we could get, so the quality is a bit less than perfect. Also, the audio was removed completely as all you could hear was us idiots talking in the background. This is NOT FINAL CODE, and was actually changing throughout the week that we were there. Some things to focus on are the updated player models (no more T-Rex) and the analog controls.

(The team has given permission for me to post this video)

Thanx for the video, great stuff. To be honest, I've always been a classic pitching kind of guy. Never liked meters, mostly because I feel the less there is on screen, the more real it feels. But I think I'll give this a try. However, the thing I noticed was you really can't enjoy seeing the pitcher windup and throw like you can with classic pitching.

Also, should those quick pitches with the runner on 3rd be considered balks?

I understand this is a work-in-progress, but did anyone else notice that when Fielder walks up to bat the stats bar shows his height/weight/age over top of his BA/HR/RBI? 4:01

I love how you can see people walking in the outfield stands to their seats

This wasn't broadcast view, was it? Can we get some gameplay footage with broadcast views?

It appeared to me that one team had the broadcast cam on and the other team did not. I was thinking the same thing until the second team batted, and it looked like broadcast cam. Cant remember which team batted second.

great video. thanks for sharing. i love how when there is a strikeout, there seems to be a delay from the camera switching angles.

edit: love the player models, lighting, and avoidance w/o clipping during the double play. love the fact the first baseman threw urgently to second base to start the double play. love the fact that the length of the white flashes has been considerably shortened.

hard to go back to '10 after this. thanks again.

edit2: love the framerate consistency. love the fact that the coach and player actually touched hands. love the quick response of outfielders when at the wall.

Just curious, is there anything you find enjoyable about this game?

They were fixed, just not in the build we were playing on.

if words had a tone, it would seem his/her overall goal doesn't seem to be to point out the good things.

Agreed...Now back to the point of this thread....Thanks for posting a vid of some gameplay psnation. I definitely like the new analog pitching. Seems like there should be a lot more walks by the user pitcher this year. I like that. I also love the overlays..Looks really refreshing.

The batter calls a timeout if you've selected your pitch and get set.

The game has always had those silly idle animations in the game and people have raved about them for years.

You seem intent on pointing out every single thing you hate about the game, at times adding the choice line "but I still preordered and can't wait to play it." This gets really annoying. Instead of discussing the game, you decide to chime in only when you hate something.

Perhaps you should word your posts a bit more carefully.

Cool, I was hoping that was the case, I stand corrected!

The one thing that I seemed to notice was that the outfield was a bit more of the expanse that it is in real life.

If I had one comment from last year, it was that the outfielders, even with tier speeds down to 0, seemed to cover a lot more ground than they ought to have in the bigger parks.

It appears that this has been addressed either by slowing the fielders even more, or making the outfields larger... or both.

Either way, this looks like a great step towards making the field a bit more daunting when it comes time to choosing an angle to make the plays.

Love it!

While I didn't talk to Joe directly about it(he's the overlay guy)...so I'm assuming(as I did at the event)...that is in the process of being changed.(I also know you said WIP so you may realize that)....but at the request of econonoodle here on the boards, I specifically asked if the ht/wt/age could be replaced with stats on that initial walk up. Looks like they were getting that in!

The fielder ratings are helping a lot here. Also, outfielders do not get that initial quick jump that they used to get.

I'm absolutely diggin' the lighting & ballparks fo sho. To me,some the players & umps arms are a little too long imo. It's no big deal, I certainly like the models now as opposed to previous years. Are these models the final version? thanks
cant wait 'til this drops
