They plan to have franchise mode like Head Coach but in the future. Definately got the impression M12 isn't going to have an amazing franchise mode. Everything they said about franchise mode was future and long term goal.
Very scary to hear the abuse Josh Looman gets from the Ultimate team crowd.

Yeah basically I will sum up the whole podcast. Long term goals. So in the end looks like franchise mode won't get a face lift until probably Madden 14 or Madden 15, since they kept saying it takes 3 years to put that kind of thing in.

Digital route planned....expanding their base again.....I don't see how much further they can expand Madden, the game is already on every device so far but android phones.

I wish they would put Head Coach into Madden though, even half of it would do, that game was a thinking man's game. Oh and I remember Quarterback Club, that was a pretty fun game back in the day.

Hmmm what else.......Time was the big theme of the podcast. They kept talking about that they don't have enough time to do this and that.

From what I am seeing, EA is heading more towards the money making route with add on's since they seen how much money people spent on FIFA add on's.

SO I expect Madden Ultimate team to be even bigger next year with probably even more add on features to buy.

But Donny, I think it was Donny who said it, he was funny when told the guy well buy another copy of madden and another and another and another until you can get connected online.

Here is what I got out of it, at least for franchise mode.

One word: immersion. That' is Josh's and Danny's goal for franchise mode. They noticed that was the result of HC. Yeah, it's going to take awhile to get everything in from HC to Madden.

Also, HC is the standard of what they want for franchise in Madden. If 30% of the stuff was imported on yearly basis from HC, I'd be a happy camper. I didn't expect, as Donny stated, a flip of the switch, and poof, in one year we have HC in franchise mode.

Also, sounds like MUT is a big hit.

Yeah kind of funny that MUT is a big hit. I only played it once and it wasn't for me. Even more funny how people cheat in MUT. Not that serious......

I don't know why people make it their goal to cheat in any and every game, game mode there is. What's the point of playing then if you going to cheat to win ?

Seeing as the HC code is already there I would think a year with a decent sized team and unlimited overtime would get it done but that's a very big check and the suits clearly have their eyes on $online$.

Yeah sounds like the old next gen madden team screwed us when is comes to franchises mode and they basically have to from scratch now :P At least there using Head Coach as a base so thats a great start.

Yeah that's the thing, if they hired more people, they could get in done in 1 cycle. But from the way Ian, Josh and Donny were talking, their team is even smaller now then what it was when they did Madden 09. Too much downsizing going on.

I mean if you go from a team lets say of 100 people down to 35 or 40 people.......That's a lot of resources gone to work with.

Haven't been able to listen yet, but these responses have me thinking EA is in no hurry to beef up Franchise mode. MUT is the game's money maker. EA has recently said as much in this article...

That is a sad day for the future. That is the problem now with this generation of gaming, too much focus on online and none for offline. Games are getting shorter and shorter.

If they going to go that route then they need to drop the price of their games then. $60 is too much for just online play focus only.

I like the talk about overall rating. I hope the implement it the way the had it in head coach, the rating depend on the scheme your team ran...

At the very least, they need to allow users the ability to move to different teams within Franchise mode. It's ridiculous that unless you go with multiple team control, you are stuck with the team you select for Franchise for the duration of the mode.

time to start skipping yearly installments....i'm doing it with MLB the show and it's worth it....and if the team is stressing *future*....no need to spend money on this franchise every year anymore.

not a knock, just stating...."it is what it is"

This...

There's no need to stress about it anymore or storm the gates. It's pretty clear the choices they are making as a seller. It's on me to make mine as the consumer.

After five years of what they call "frankenstein franchise mode" hearing future and long term goal about rebuilding it isn't what I wanted to hear. At least they sound like they're on the right track.

I am optimistic about Madden franchise if they are going to base it on HC09, however, they have a fear of it being too complicated for the casual user (they don't actually say casual user, but that's what they are referring to). Ian said that it would have to be streamlined a bit cause people would be like what is a restricted free agent? I think that is a very cowardly statement to make. Because if you look at the better sports games out there, they are very sim in their franchise modes. If people like the game they are going to take time to learn what needs to be learned in order to be successful at it. I have never heard anyone complain about a game being too hard these days. I always here people complain about how a game is too easy, too short, not sim enough or too arcade like. I never hear anyone complain about a game being too sim.

I think they mean they had a better engine to build on last gen.

Maybe I listened to a different podcast.

I heard that they are concentrating on franchise mode this year and into the future.

That they can't just put all of HC right into Madden for technology reasons ( i assume size being primary) but want to use systems from it.

I didn't hear there would be no enhancements to franchise mode this year, or it wouldn't be amazing or it would suck.

I suggest people listen to the pod cats instead of basing opinions off of other people's interpretations of it.

That's all there needs to be said. The voice of reason right here.

Even a few months ago Phil said what he could say at the time, Franchise Mode's improvements will be noticeable to people's eyes.

It's too early in production to spill the beans.
