"It looks like everything we had been hearing over the last year and half has turned out to be true as word is now coming out that Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Sports, has approached the NFL about a licensing deal for the 2013 NFL season. It was rumored last month that the NFLPA, the official association representing players of the National Football League, were already in preliminary talks.
While nothing solid has been worked out, all the pieces are falling into place. Take-Two has sold of several major assets - including their mega-distributor JOAG in Cincinnati, Ohio in order to raise capital. We'll keep you updated as the details emerge."
Would definately love for 2k to be able to make a football game again. Like someone said earlier with the effort they put into 2k11 they really should take that game to the NFL and be like this is what we want to do for your product. Please let there be a NFL2k13
searching the web im actually starting to hear a lot more rumors about 2k coming out with a college title first after next season since ea's exclusive license is over in 01/2011. appears that they secretly hired a dev team last year and sold major assets to make a football comeback. the fact that nba 2k was beast also helps
I have heard about them selling assets, but not about them hiring a dev team. Do you have a link to this information?
I'll take any football game form 2k right now. A college game would be great. I think if they came out with a fully customizable All Pro game, that would be even better. I wonder if that's allowed because it would be a way to get around the NFL exclusive license.
I am so hopeful I can finally get back into football gaming. Its been a tough year not playing Madden. Whats funny is NBA 2K actually has me more interested in NBA than NFL. If you would have told me a year ago this would be the case I would have said you were crazy. I still want Madden to be made so there is competition, but all I really care about is getting my grimy hands on NFL 2K13 or whatever year they start with. I can hold off on football gaming till then.
2k13, meaning at least 2012 'til we get a non-Madden NFL game (maybe)?...Too far into the future to even get me excited.
What about the NCAA license? I'd actually almost rather have a killer Visual Concepts college football game than pro...but at this point, I'll take anything non-EA. Anything.

It doesn't look like 2k want a college game though, which is a pity.
i agree i think a 2k college game would be pretty great. NCAA 11 was good but it isnt where it should be. From what i hear nba 2k11 has sports game of the year possibilities, as i myslef havent played it but have heard great things about it.
I would be good with a generic game as long as it has a franchise mode. I lover All Pro but it lacks depth. I say toss out the Legend Players and give us a customizable generic game with a franchise mode.
I think a generic game with 32 (or more) teams with total customization and a good franchise would be better then a realistic CFL game. I think the CFL label would turn more people off then a game with fake players and total customization would, which doesn't say much about that league.
At this point, I just wish they would make something.
I wouldn't buy a CFL game. I live in Michigan and am right next to Canada and aside from a few teams and different yard lines/endzones, I couldn't tell you very much about the CFL. I know Flutie and Warren Moon used to play there
Or why not a CFL/UFL combined game? I understand that the two are different, but I'm sure licensing can't be that expensive in regards to NFL and it would add teams. If you aren't happy with the low amount of teams, add in a expansion tool
The Maximum Football guy tried that with customizable multiple rules and he mentioned after release how difficult it made it to change things for fixes and how one rule affects another and so on. I would think one league or completely customizable American rules football would be the only two viable options that would make any money.

I agree that a generic game which allows "Total customization" would be the best idea. Of course my definition of "Total customization" is likely to be wildly different from 2k's, especially if 2k8 is anything to go by. If it were up to me you would be able to have any type of league from 7-man to CFL.

Maximum Football doesn't really prove that total customization can't work. It was developed by basically one guy for a start, which doesn't help. A larger company could quite easily make a game which allowed multiple rules work. Heck, even OOTP Baseball manages it well, and that's made by basically three people.
