"EA SPORTS MMA brings the authenticity of the world’s most intense combat sport home like never before. Go on the offensive with a dynamic control system for strikes, elbows, knees and kicks and strategically manage advances and counters with an intuitive submission system. Battle it out in the Strikeforce cage or deliver vicious soccer kicks and head stomps in a ring in Japan. Are you ready? Let’s get it on!"
Can anyone let me know if you can have CPU vs. CPU fights? I love creating fighters and putting them in the ring/octagon against each other. This was not possible on the demo, at least if it was i didn't figure it out.
This was my 5th win. Second win after signing with a Brazilian league. This is also my photo game face of me and my career fighter.
He is built pure BJJ. Has horrible chin and gets stunned easy. But on the ground he can be dangerous in any position.

Right here in this video I was getting destroyed by this guy in the stand up. His punch range was better than mine and closing speed just out classed me. He lands a quick combo that sends me stumbling. I quickly shoot for the take down while he was pressing forward. I land and quickly pass to take the mount. He rolls and lets me take his back and I just quickly slapped on the choke.
My right eye was cut and bloody real bad from the heavy exchanges I was falling short on. Got real lucky I landed the take down and just out classed the guy on the bottom. I have yet to face a high level BJJ guy like myself yet though.

Thanks for posting that, Phobia. I was just going to ask about how the replay system works. Looks good. Can you view previous fights online?
I have not fiddled with the replay system to much yet so I really don't know the ends and outs of whats possible with it. So far all I have seen is you can save and upload the finial highlights of a fight.

How is this game against the CPU? Is it a (fair) challenge?
The CPU is fun to play. Seems fair to me. I just got handed my first lost. 11 punches thrown in this fight. You will quickly see what happened.
I came out, threw a leg kick. Then went to shoot in and got caught with a rising knee to the face. Which stunned me badly. I regain my head a little and try to keep some distance with some body kicks. but the guy catches my first kick and then just destroys my face. this puts me to the canvas pretty much done. He jumps in my guard and lands 2 or 3 punches to KO me.
Rebounding after my loss. My fighter can't stand and bang so take it to the ground and look for the sub is my main game plan. It is not flashy but it works.
I almost locked in the darce but he barely managed to escape. But not for long, as he manged to get back into my guard and the triangle quickly locked on him.
For those who tried the Single Player, hows the AI?
Do fights go the distance or are there Flash KOs galore?
The majority of my Non Career mode fights have gone the distance. I actually havent seen a flash Ko from stand up yet. Most KOs were someone getting stunned and the other player jumping on them and finishing with a Tko. I had 1 one punch KO with Tim Kennedy. Kennedy had Jacare in full Mount, landed a hook and Jacare went to sleep.

I'm actually disappointed with the replay system. There is no in game manual replay. You can only watch the replay of highlights at the end of the fight and even that is limited. Limited camera angles, no rewind, only 3 speeds to choose from.
There are only 3 highlights per round. Also the highlights the game selects arent always great. Sometimes it will select someone attempting a sub over a more significant punch or kick in the round.

Matt pointed it out to me but just seen it a few fights ago. Some times when you got a guy in a choke they will tap or times they will just go to sleep.
This issue I am having so far in my career is not that it is easy. But the opponents I am facing so far are all VERY weak in submissions. But almost all of them have me beat bad in the stand up, clinch, and health.
I am in the 60s in stand up while most the guys I been facing are in the 70s. But I am in the mid 90s in submissions while most the guys I have faced so far are in the 30s with the highest I faced so far in the mid 40s. Can't wait to see what it is like when I face a high level BJJ guy.
Because now it is pretty difficult for me. The CPU does a great job blocking you shooting for the clinch or take down. So getting it to the ground is not always easy.
This last fight, I am in the 1 round 20 min league and it lasted to the 7 min mark. So that was like 13 min of a real time war. It took me all fight till I saw a opening for the submission.
This guy I faced did nothing but kicks. So he threw a barage of leg kicks and head kicks at me. Basically just asking for me to get KOed. He always stunned and rocked me about 2 or 3 times in the match and I covered up and survived with my back to the cage.
I am REALLY loving the game.
This was one of his shots that stunned me.
Left cross, Left head kick lands flush and almost puts me to sleep. THEN a stiff jab on the chin. Then he hooked me in the clinch.
I know Aholbert and Phobia, you guys have played all 3 "main" MMA games out there (UFC 10, UFC 09, MMA), would you say EA's offers the most depth?
Sorry if these are silly questions but I honestly haven't been as invested in the MMA game (I more mean the sport than the game) the past few months, as I think I got burned out between my several years of training, watching EVERY fight in EVERY organization and playing UFC 09.
Thanks for the help as I try and narrow my decision down on which game to roll with. I will be getting the PS3 version, if that matters at all.

I think that EA's game is better gameplay wise. Features and Presentation are much better in UFC 10 imo. The flash KOs, poor stamina and difficulty getting out of submissions are huge problems in UFC. These arent issues that are in EA's game. I havent really seen any AI issues from EA's game so far. The biggest issue in this game so far is the horrible judging.
The presentation in UFC is much better. The announcing and features like Event mode and Classic fights are pluses for the UFC game. The announcing in EA's game is annoying and sometimes out of place and the presentation elements are either too short or non existent.

Very fair, honest comparison. I like it.
I think I'm going to give EA's game a shot. I really liked the submission system in its game over UFC, as I despise 'the shine.' I always struggled in UFC with subs b/c I couldn't 'shine' fast enough. Very annoying. I like how EA's is more of a mini-game with button presses.
I'm OK with EA having not as flashy presentation as UFC; gameplay is what I'm most concerned with. It sounds like EA is holding up well in the retail version, which is good to hear. Yeah the judging sounds wonky, but honestly, what fight game DOESN'T have wonky judging? I remember some silly scores in UFC 09. Granted, not 10-7 but still, there were some strange scores in that game and Fight Night has a history of weird judging.

Nah, UFC 10's judging isnt wonky. You may see a few 10-8 rounds but its not even close to how bad EA's is.
Just spent about 1-2 hours on the Fight Card with ManiacMatt and Phobia....couldve gone another 3hours..thats just how awesome it is...being able to watch fights and comment at the same time...Priceless....
My opinion of the game is that its in my 360 now and probably wont come out in the near future...

That's cool...a very nice feature. Nice to hear it's working good.
if it werent for the phillies game and a nagging fiance, id still be playing quik, those matches were fun as hell, and well remember that one hitter quitter on rogers for a while.

Fun is an understatement my man!!!! One Hitter Quitter?...Me..? ... I dont recall that....Maybe cause Rodgers is still sleep!!!!
Good matches all...cant wait til more of our OS people get on...
i am a little dissapointed in not being able to save replays out of fight card, there were a few **** moments tonight that were replay worth, especially when you and phobia started going toe to toe.
I agree...maybe EA will fix that later, but i definetly cant bash their first MMA effort...I think it is awesome, and will be playing for a Looong time.....if u got a good group of friends, the gameplay possibilities are infinite....looking forward to getting more fight cards together with u.....
