I'm not liking the movement at all. Everything feels sluggish and forced. Not smooth at all. Only played a couple of min but, so far I'm not liking te feel of the game.

I like the fact they're trying something different but, its not coming off well. Did they say how far along the demo is versus the retail copy?

If i had to base my decision on this, I'd be picking Elite 11 only to play NBA Jam.

When I get home from work tomorrow I'll invest some more time. Looking forward to reading this while at work tomorrow from some OS bball vets (23, pared, flightwhite, bcruise etc.) and see what they think.

Coupla quick initial impressions:

Controls seem very different, but as the tutorials walk you through them, they actually feel pretty good, and aren't too jarringly different coming from the previous scheme.

Graphics aren't bad as they seemed in the vids, IMO, and it moves pretty smooth. This is why I am starting to hate watching vids of games, not just Elite, but in general. Because I get it on my screen in front of me and it always seems the vids don't do the real thing justice, for some odd reason.

The actual movement, in some of the dunks and the layups, seem to be a bit exaggerated, and when taking off it looks like they explode upwards kinda quick toward the rim.

I like the total control. They will have a nice learning curve. Passing with R2/RTrigger just throws me off. The animations needs alot of help. But I keep playing. It's really something different.

Well I said initially this is what you'd feel since there is no sprint button and how they feel.. so people saying the people were cheesing in the video, now they'll see that they werent out there just playing cheese ball

I wonder if there will be an option to turn on the sprint button...has anyone looked in the settings at all or anything? I haven't had a chance to boot up the game yet, but I'm itching to.

About two weeks of active development off the retail version.

Should feel pretty much like the final game, enough to pass a fair judgment.

Shot difficulty tuning and the Boozer rocket dunk are probably two of the bigger changes that went into the final version.

But for the most part what you see in the demo is what you'll get in the day one retail version.

There is no sprint option in the game.

Geez.

While I love the control scheme, the game feels very "beta" even at this stage.

Graphics aren't the greatest, but from what I've seen previously I'd say this is more due to the game being ported from the 360.

Announcing is great. Sound overall is great.

But the AI, player movement, spacing get a big from me.

Guys, you HAVE TO give the controls some time. You need to learn and experiment. At first, everything will feel very, very odd to you.

Some help:

There is NO TURBO. R2/RT is the pass button.
LT is gather. Combine with with the RS for drop spins. Hold LT to do a running gather.
LS left or right+Gather = Euro.

EXPERIMENT. It will be very easy to write this off without spending time with the controls.

But the 5on5 action doesn't have as much "meat" from what I've seen so far. Still early impressions though.

Thanks for the info rEA! definitely going to have to put more time in tomorrow.

I feel the same way. I cannot believe how poorly the players move. I spent nearly 25 mins. practicing before I played the Lakers vs Celtics, and am not pleased. I switched to NBA Live 10 controls, and while it did restore some of last years charm, this game is just too far off of the deep end as far as gameplay goes. I will be downloading this for my Xbox later today, but if the Xbox offers a different experience than the PS3 does, there is something wrong, and PS3 users are getting the short end of the stick.

Being an NBA Live player since 08', I had hope for this series making leaps and bounds. While the idea to implement these new features is valid, this game is just not very good. It does not offer a lot of authenticity as well. Which is a big problem! This game will get stale within the first month for sure, and I too am only purchasing this because of NBA Jam.

I see where the the game is headed. But the 5 on 5 is not there. But I want to keep playing to learn more.

Player movement is horrendous IMO, they are very stilted, the running animations are odd to say the least. Crowd looks great, what few you see and the players have a unique look to them, different to say the least. I can't believe the stat and sub screens, my god, they look like they are from the SNES or something.

Yup.

Finally went into the full 5-on-5 mode, and what stuck out to me immediately is the general look of how everyone moves/runs. Even some of the player/player interactions, just don't reflect the grace of NBA players.

I actually kinda like the control scheme, I'm gonna try and really give it a shot. Nice that the "default" controls are an option, though.

Exactly how I feel as well.

You know, I'd say this is probably the PERFECT type of demo EA could put out.

Quality with-standing, the amount of content here is impressive for a free demo.

BUT... (there's always a but) how do you guys not include a CPU based one on one mode so players can practice the back down controls? No way they'll see fade-aways unless they get another human player in the mix or play the full game.

They can't really experiment then and won't realize it's there.

Minor gripe, and probably the only noticeable problem I can see with the demo out of the gate.

Not feeling this, not feeling the animation, not feeling the controls, not feeling the look. the movement, not feeling anything about this game.....smh, almost as if we're back in 07 again. It hurts my feelings because Live 10 was my game of choice. After this, Live is dead....Elite never started living....I expect another directional change for the new year.

All white numbers and all white names (if you can call it that)??? No light on the players??? This is my worst nightmare. I can't even try to like this game, looks like PS2, worst than ps2...smh

The only thing I can do is shake my head and think "are you serious? This is not NBA basketball."

# 18 fsufan4423 @ 09/21/10 02:42 AM
I'm not too upset, I didn't allow myself to get too hyped. I only played one quarter and ready to call it a night.

The graphics and movements are a huge turnoff. It looks very similar to NCAA Basketball.

I really feel Live 10 is better all the way. I know this is just a demo, but when a dev says "this is what you will get on release" ouch!

# 19 gbx34 @ 09/21/10 02:42 AM
Everything feel sluggish, like bringing up the passing icons
its killing defense it feel hard to stay in front of people. other then the right right for the hands is there anything else?
The control are pretty sweet so far.

What type of glasses are you wearing? I'm not being sarcastic and seriously wonder, do you actually think that this 5 v. 5 gameplay is good?
