NCAA Football 11 News Post


The NCAA Football 11 patch #3 is available now for the PS3. Will update this post when it is available for the 360.

*UPDATE: The Live Tuning Pack 3 has released for PS3, will update when it is available for the 360.

Here are the details, for those of you that don't know what is included.

Title Update 3 (TU3)

* The pump fake exploit was resolved. The entire defense will no longer rush the QB after a pump fake.
* Resolved an issue with setting SS/ FS to QB Spy and then blitzing, virtually unblocked.
* Increased the Overall rating for incoming freshman. This resulted in one and two star freshman coming in at a higher overall rating.
* In Season Progression is back! Players once again have the ability to get a slight boost to their ratings during the season.
* There was an issue with Hawaii's home schedule causing conflicts with particular teams. This has been resolved. In particular, teams in the Pac 10 and the WAC will now have the correct number of conference games.
* Resolved an issue with the Rush Defense slider where they were only impacting defensive line special moves. They have been adjusted to also impact win/loss chances for blocking.

Live Tuning Pack 3 (LTP3)

* Kick Power/Kick Accuracy progression for Kickers and Punters was adjusted to be in line with the new incoming freshmen. Kickers and punters will now progress in line with other players, but will start with a higher average overall due to the improved recruit ratings in the patch.
* Increased Awareness progression for all positions.
* Increased progression slightly for Elusiveness, Spin Move, and Juke Move for Wide Receivers.
* Increased progression of the Tackle rating for Corner Backs to be in line with WR skill ratings (Juke, Spin, and Elusiveness).
* Reduced the frequency of defenders successfully jumping the snap. Also adjusted how frequently they would jump early when the offense performed a fake snap.
* Tuned Man Coverage so defenders will not jump in front of routes so early. They will still jump the route, but not as early, or frequently, as before.
* Adjusted in season progression to be in line with higher rated incoming freshmen.
* Tuned Incoming freshman to better match the spread on the default rosters.
* Tuned team prestige progression to be in line with the changes to incoming freshmen.

This was on heisman by the way.I'm not the best player but I've never had a FCS light me up like this lol. I was able to score on them with ease also. I'm going to have to mess around with sliders for sure.
Were you playing as Ole Miss against Jackson St ?

Freshman are not coming in higher. They are coming in lower. 1 and 2 stars may be slightly higher, but 3 stars are waaaaayyy lower. FAU had like 10 3* commits and only 1 was in the 60s and he was a 61, the rest were 50s.

Progression is good and big time teams do have better recruits. Teams like Ohio State are still signing too many JUCOs and have too many walk ons. I seen Florida and Oklahoma have like 4-5 players with overalls in the 40s and 50s.

Im not liking what I see so far on this front. Now im hearing the defense sucks too. Uggghhhhh, come on Madden roster update!!

That's never been how in-season progression has worked in the past. A feature that only works for User teams and not CPU teams is not a feature, but a cheat. It's no better than the "boosters" in Dynasty mode.

I'd be shocked if EA suddenly changed the way that in-season progression works after implementing the same feature for a decade, but it appears that way given the comments from PS3 users.

Russ... if you're out there... can you please explain HOW in-season progression works. Does it happen for simulated games/seasons? Does it happen for CPU controlled teams?

I'm sure a lot of dynasty mode gamers won't like the feature if it is essentially another boost for the User in a Dynasty mode that has always been too easy to dominate.

This patch is exposing some frauds online.

Ripped to shreds some dude sitting in press man all game with mediocre CBs...he started taking a knee at the end of the 3rd quarter, and crying about how defense was taken out of the game..and called me a cheeser for running the run and shoot.

High comedy.

Wish I was. Teams on the same level as FAU are like this. They had 5-8 3 star players. The highest rated guy was a 61. Everyone else was in the 50s. They had a few 1 star players who were rated higher than a lot of their 3 star guys. So I blieve that 1-2 star guys have better ratings, which still doesnt matter. But why are recruiting powerhouses like Ohio State, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma getting these guys???

Im kinda ticked at the fact that top level teams have 40s and 50s on their rosters. Florida had a 47 overall freshman LT. Oklahoma had a DT in the 40s.

Its still very bland. Teams like Arizona will never have any 90s on their roster in the future. Unless they jump out and get a 4 star recruit. Im thinking that recruits overalls have been dumbed down based on what team they sign with. Arizonas 3 stars were better than FAUs 3 stars. And some of the FAU guys were higher in the position ranking. Im simming some more to look.

Is zone D working any better sport? If they neutered man cov and zone D is still a joke like it was pre patch #3(which is possibly why he stayed in man D) that may lead to people getting beat down.

What I want to know is .... Has the tuned pass defense, both zone and man, made this game unplayable??? Is the combo of pass rush and pass d been killed and allow the robo QBs for every team to come back. The pass D was good when the game first came out. So whats it like now?

If so, im not going to waste my time simming anymore, and ill just sit and wait for the madden roster update on Thurs.

EDIT: just simmed another season with FAU. All my 3* commits were rated in the mid 50s this time. All 4 of them. Highest was a 58.

Only my opinion, but EA did it to us again. This game as become very much unplayable to me. No D whatsoever. Just played NC State at Syracuse (56-21) I was State and threw for 521 yards a high for me on this years game.

I was on default AA, so sliders might help, but the pass D is atrocious.

In my opinion the changes to zone defense do not even out with the changes to the man defense. There has been very little defense in any game I have played thus far.

I'm scared too, as there are no Division 2 teams in the game.

*I know you mean the generic FCS regional teams*

I must truly have a different game than everyone else. Oh well. I'm liking the changes and haven't seen some mega shootout every time.

Man I was loving the passing game at first. Overthrows, drops, and for the first time ever, a somewhat decent zone defense.

Zone defense has almost always been bad in EA football titles. The defenders will always just go stand in one spot and never make a play on the ball. They would wait for the WR to catch the ball, then run after him.

This year was ok at first, but if what you guys are saying is true, NCAA have been killed by patches yet another time.

See this worries me. Because the Madden 1.03 update will have "gameplay balancing" and these kind of series of patches almost always make the game worse.

Hardly any defense then with this patch?

Well, I will try this patch after it's released for the 360 but if it's as bad as they say (and I don't doubt everyone one here, just want to see for myself). If there isn't any more pass defense then I will clear my cache on my 360 delete all my files for this game, unplug my network card and strictly play it offine in Dynasty mode. I thought the game played very well before patch #2 so I will go back to an upatched version of the game.

I think I read where you can individually download the patches from some website. If that is true I will download the patch that came out on day one and just use that offline.

Oh yeah, about Robo QB. It's still there but it's better. QB's WILL hit open WR's, but I have seen some overthrows again which is nice. Even as a user i'm overthrowing some of my passes. I'm glad i'm seeing that again.
