This demo better be excellent. Because these gameplay vids have been horrible thus far.

Don't have to pause it every 10 sec, it happens every 10 sec. And it's much easier to judge when your opponent is doing better

That looks ok. When u factor the control aspect, it may be real fun to play. I dont think I'll be playing on that camera angle though. It seems they gave us a barebones structure for animations this year. They went straight fundamentals. And thats ok because it sets them up for next year. They need to go super animation heavy next year with transition animations and sig moves. Elite reminds me alot of Live 10, and thats a good thing. No more automatic tie ups when i drive to the hole. That was a BIG annoyance last year.

If the dynasty mode is tighten up, the sky is the limit. There will never be a clear cut winner when it comes to gameplay with 2k and Elite. It will always be matter of preference( I know some people think their opinion is law.) It will all come down to the dynasty mode and neither of them has it down pact. 2k always has TONS of bugs that no one will speak on (I guess it taboo.) And super bad trade logic. Live/Elite is unfocused to say the least.

Just try to find what both of them brings to the table and love them for what they do.

Anyone else seeing Live '05 HD? The dribbling, the cuts, the dunks, how defenders react to the screens...Its like they just ported over the engine, put together the new controls and are trying to build off that for the forseeable future.

While the game looks just plain average, competition at the end of the day is great, so hope they can build(for the 3rd time this gen, which is pathetic) and get it right.

im serious is this a joke or something, this is no where close to being real basketball, and its surely not nba basketball. what is this. man i cant understand whats going on. just horrible.

Man EA.......has it realy come to this. You guys might need to revaluate your approach to the basketball sim. This looks terrible. I been playing NBA Live since 95' and there are some old Live titles that look as good if not better than this. I'm very disapointed. It's a shame too, cause I'm from Chicago, so buying 2k was a must either way just for the sake of Mike being on the cover but the reality is........well do i even need to say it. My advise would be to tear it down to bear bones, take a year off and maximize your time wisely. But what do I know I'm just a gamer.

If my memory serves me right I remember a lot of people really enjoying the gameplay videos of Live 10. Based soley on the fact that it just animated better.

But control is what they are preaching this year so hopefully when we get the controller in our hands it will immerse you so much that you won't notice some of the things you see in the videos.

Now, speaking of the video.

The video, once again in my opionion, doesn't animate very well. Durant's drive and foul should have simply never happened. he pretty much barreled through Prince like he wasn't there.

But what dissapointed me the most was that the AI seems very reminiscent of Live 10. Generally stagnant and there often seems to be only two things happening: 1. An isolation, or 2. A "one pass and shoot" offense. I just hope that they tweaked the AI becuase that is who I generally play and that was what kept me from really enjoying Live 10.

If I was EA I would release this game early just for sales. Once the cat is out the bag and it will be out fast that this game is a mess sales are going to at an All Time low. WOW just WOW EA

I'm seeing the exact same. Man I really enjoyed live 10' except for a few things in franchise and the cpu ai. I thought they were finally catching up to 2k, this new direction they are taking is not a good look, they had a great base last year and If they would've added some more custom animations, glossed over the graphics, worked on the presentation, and improved the cpu ai they could've had a real winner now.

But

They seemed to have scrapped everything they've been working on and picked up a new engine, which yea may be good in the long run but first year there gonna have to work out some kinks, because some of the movements I'm seeing just look horrid and unnatural, and really kill the immersion to the point that I can't watch more then 30 seconds of these videos without saying wtf?

Oh well at least we have a choice of basketball games unlike another major sport, not bashing Madden I love it this year but it's taken awhile. I've seen enough footage I'll try the demo and see if my complaints are warranted.

A lot of the animations are so old!! The blockshots, some of the passes and the timing in the shoots are way off. I am sure that moving your player and shooting would be cool with the new gameplay system, but they missed completely in the rest. Too bad because I was looking to try NBA Elite this year.

That's why it pains me to say that Elite 11 looks absolutely terrible. Even with the NBA Jam pack in, it won't sell at all.
Kinda makes you scratch your head as to how it could have possibly taken a step backwards.

I don't get that at all....you had a good foundation in Live 10 only thing missing was legitimate animations.........

I knew that new name Elite was just fluff.....there's nothing elite about the game IMO. Man i miss the the old PS2 days of NBA Live

# 54 Mike Smoove @ 09/02/10 06:59 PM
Sorry but no way is this worth $65. Cancel release and take a year off, or drop the price.

No...because Live 10 was a huge step in the right direction. They laid a solid foundation with the movement and controls, and the logical step would have been to build upon that with more signature animations and focus on areas that were lacking (post game, fast breaks, more contact).

When Live 10 was released it had the best movement, drive and kick game and shooting responsiveness of any basketball game to date. Though it was lacking in overall depth, it nailed many basketball fundamentals that 2k10 was missing, which made it a viable alternative.

I just don't understand the decision to completely abandon what they had going. I can see why Mike Wang disagreed with the direction they wanted to go, clearly his creative voice was lost in the process. Big mistake.

How are they releasing a game where NBA players are dribbling laterally with the ball in the same hand like a hockey defensemen on the blue line during a powerplay? It looks ridiculous.

LMAO HOW COULD THE DEVS REALLY SIT BACK AND SAY PEOPLE ARE GONNA LOVE THIS GAME AFTER SEEIN THESE VIDS AND WHAT 2K HAS TO OFFER ALL I CAN DO IS LAUGHWHY WOULD YOU THINK THIS WAS OKAY

# 57 SacKings1999 @ 09/02/10 07:01 PM
I like OS because short posts that don't use logical arguments aren't usually considered acceptable.

But honestly, that video was so underwhelming / disappointing that I can't think of anything intelligent / logical to say. It was just bad, very bad. I'll still download the demo, but after watching that... I'll be very surprised if the demo convinces me to buy.

This coming from a Live '96 vet.

Actually that would be good for you.....have them release the game early and you can make serious money Flight LOL!

Man i'm so down right now. Every year i get all hyped up around this time for b-ball (NBA Live). This can't be the final product i refuse to believe it since it's only September.

There has to be more brought to the table right?

# 59 boritter @ 09/02/10 07:05 PM
I haven't followed NBA Elite (or Live) for 3-4 years. I only came here due to the poll.

That being said, this looks eerily similar to the NBA Live versions from 4-5 years ago.

Oh gosh this game looks tight. I love the camera angle, the jumpshots, the ball to rim physics, and of course RTP. Just made my pre order at Gamestop along with NBA 2K11, and NHL 11. Guys, this may be the best year ever to be a sports gamer. We should all consider ourselves to be very blessed with such a good variety of sports games coming out this year and I truly mean that. Don't get me wrong there is always room for improvement. NBA 2K11 will most likely be my main BBall game but Elite will be great alternative for me.
