NBA Elite 11 News Post

NBA ELITE 11 is back with the first of two gameplay videos featuring 5 on 5 action. This video is a user vs. user matchup with NBA ELITE Gameplay Producer Novell Thomas taking on NBA Community Manager Yaw Obiri-Yeboah (also known as blackflash83 on the forums) . The game is being played on a Pre-final build with some tuning left to do but it provides a good representation of how the game will play once you developed your skills with the new Hands-On control.

Be sure to check out some of the quick plays being called during half court offensive sequences (press X on the 360 to begin a quick play or the Square button on PS3) and the importance of playing the passing lanes as balls can get deflected. You have complete control this year in NBA ELITE 11.

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but the guys over at EA need to scrap the animations they have now, and do a complete overhaul to the system.

It would be stupid if this wasn't first priority for next year. It's whats killing this series right now.

I don't know how much more outspoken the community has be with this.

The game can have the best controls in Sports gaming history, a real time physics engine(witch appears to be a disappointment in and of itself) but until it manages to capture the look and finesse of an NBA game it will continue to be looked at as a 2nd rate Basketball game.

Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean their hating.

"looks horrible, commentators, it looks like old live, blah blah blah" not that they're wrong. they are right to an extent and can voice their opinions. the problem is no one realizes if you keep saying graphics, graphics, graphics. thats what they will end up changing the direction to graphics and animations that you cant break out of because it wont look smooth. its not about basketball its about the LOOK and nothing else is what they hear. so they will change the game to be what you want it to be. there are only a few of us who REALLy want a sim game. we are in the minority. if you dont believe it, listen to this thread. what is the biggest complaint? the look/graphical appeal. even after they told us all that graphics would suffer. so this is a get your hands on it game. even still they talk about graphics/look.

here's the deal, put up with wack graphics this year if you find out in the demo that the total control thing is great, just look wack.

next year they will combine the two. you say they change every year? not true. they are now adding on to things. they had the downloads from synergy sports that changed the basketball gaming for ever. now they are going with real time physics. this will do the same. now they need to present a better LOOKING game. they will have all year for that before nba elite 12. this is not the usual"next year" talk. they did the same thing with NHL. they revamped it. and it took a few years to be the best sports game out there so people swear.
If the gameplay looked good then there would be a lot less complaints, people have been cheering for Elite to be good because EA is the underdog for once but this video was disappointing all around. It's pretty hard to judge how the game is going to look with two users but even with two guys who know the ins and outs of the games playing, it still didn't look all that interesting or fun to play. When you combine a boring look game with bad presentation, it makes the game uninteresting and generates the complaints that you see in this thread.

People are paying 60 plus dollars for a game and it's 2010 they have to right to by picky and to expect more, if you like the video fine but people have to right to state their opinion.

+I really liked those quick plays. Looked real fluid. All the plays called were quick n successful. I really like that about this game over the other.

+The Jennings lay up in the beginning of the video was nice.

+All the ball handling looked real smooth and to imagine doing that on the sticks was nice. The in n out move felton did was real nice. As you can tell I love playing with PG's

+Post up moves look a lot smoother then past Lives.

SOME MINOR ISSUES
-I wish there was more contact, or some blocks....
-That brandon jennings pro hop was kind of floaty and weird looking.
-And players jumping for rebounds with their arms bent just looks flat out stupid.....

IDK??? wasn't as bad to me as others have posted, of course I was just watching it while imagining me playing it.

If it is just live 10 with no suction then I'm still down with that.....

I don't think people are being too picky at all, most of the complaints are centered around awkward animations and bland commentary/atmosphere. All of which are pretty obvious, and YES, I will be able to notice these while playing the game.

From a graphics standpoint, I can honestly say I prefer the look of Live 10. This year the jerseys look pretty awful and the skin textures are too bland. Reminds me of older iterations of live pre 2010.

I might be in the minoirty with you.....I thought the commmentary was solid

I just don't see anything different animation wise on the floor. The game still lacks animations that make you want you want to play it all year.

For the life of me i can't understand why they simply won't get rid of the robotic movement.......

The off the ball movement has been there for 4-5 years now, the court spacing has been there for years. The one aspect of gameplay that has never arrived and joined the party is the life like animations and movement of the players. Controls are nice to have but really weren't we always able to showcase moves in Live anyway.

If it looked this dull with two human players i can't imagine how the CPU players will look on the floor. They will probably be even less dialed into the game.

I'm going to conceed that this game is probably once again more geared towards head to head play as opposed to a good single player expeirence.

Seems like that is the direction they choose to go more USER vs USER style of play. I guess that's not a bad thing but for those who really enjoy the single player mode vs the CPU i don't think this game made any strides at all.

And it seems like the actual player movement took a step backwards from Live 10 if that was even possible.

Man i wish they would bring some guys over SCEA who work on MLB The Show

the game looks gud if you can watch on quality..HD...gameplay and graphics are not bad at all compared to live 10....crowd reactions are different..if you pay attention when did one of the dunks on the bucks you can here the crowds say owe or wateve which is different for a basketball game. cause usaully jus here the regular cheer which is boaring after awhile so that was pretty cool to hear. presentation did make me feel like i was watchin the game on espn...and remind me how hate Van Gundy lol .....n i believe they were letting each other do things because they wanted us to see the plays being called for both teams ....etc

I guess i shouldn't worry too much,EA change direction every year and RTP will be out by Elite 12. Wonder how they will change the game next year? bring back NBA LIVE 95's gameplay????
