NBA Elite 11 News Post

OS'ers jtdribbles25, 23 and Jano have posted their impressions of NBA Elite 11, from their hands-on time with the game at the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event.

23 has posted a ton of video from the game on his Youtube channel. I just wanted to gather all of the videos together on one page, to make it easier to find and view.

We appreciate all the work 23, as well as the impressions, all 3 of you have given us.

To view the rest of them (17 in total), head over to 23's Youtube Channel, right here.

Everything from the running, passing, shooting, blocking, dribbling, etc. Basically every animation looks so unnatural and quirky. Animations across the board should be a top priority for Elite 12. I'm really, really hoping those rocket dunks are just bugs that can be fixed.

To tough to tell...

From the onset though I feel that the new camera approach is where they based most of the gameplay tweaks off of. So I feel that from that angle the game will look good. When you focus on a game from one aspect that aspect takes center stage through development.

I'm a BIG Live fan thanks to it's customization and through the years have edited everything about the game. here's to hoping that same customization is in and not left out due to this years new approach and outlook by Littman. The NHL series has become a success in the way Fifa has and I can see why they wanted to capture that same success with NBA Live (now titled NBA Elite)

Who dribbles while sliding left to right? The offensive players look like they are in defensive stances while they are dribbling. The movement didn't look good. You can't tell the difference between Shaq and Nate Robinson(except for the height). The players look like they have 50inch verticals. Very disappointing.

Another thing I noticed is that the old..OLD live problem of shaq making fadeaway jumppers is back. They are taking alot of steps back man..

Maybe tomorrow the Devs can get us some much needed answers. I think the camera angle as Tomba stated has alot to do with it. Its kinda like someone deleted all the animations when they got rid of the two man animations. Elite needs animations, I don't want to run around the court like a robot for the sake of total control. I am really hoping that this is a very old build and the game has made leaps and bounds in the area of overall polish.

How far can you truly take this element of how it "feels". I mean its play is subpar, looks subpar, realism is totally subpar, physics are subpar, signature shots are subpar . . . . but how does it "feel"???? How can you possibly reject 80-90% of the evidence and attempt to base your opinion soley on this ever-alluding concept of "how it feels"? Am I the only one that completely doesn't buy this "well you really need to see how it 'feels'" BS. I want a realistic basketball sim. And regardless of how "it feels", if it looks and plays like that, it's utterly ridiculous to deem this a sim.

Wow. That's just not right man.

This looks like crap...I was semi excited for this game until I saw these.

# 76 Rocboyz101 @ 08/29/10 08:24 PM
Why did KG bend over and touch his toes and let Boozer glide over him? That doesn't look or feel right.

OK... I have been watching these forums for years...and never truly felt it necessary to make an account and post. However, after watching the videos for the first time i was initially disappointed. However, i re watched every video multiple times and found a lot more positives some of which i will post.If you truly go back over each video (with an open heart and a basketball Mind, that's if you have a high enough Bball IQ) presented over the last 2 days there are a lot more positives than negatives IMO. For example one of the videos with the Wizards vs. The Lakers i saw a big man actually use his pivot foot. That is a big deal...I also saw a traveling violation that is a big deal...I saw the excellent textures of the Jerseys. And Is it just me or did Kobe and Matt Barnes look pretty damn good. ( I point them out out simply because they got multiple ISO shots after dead ball situations)
My point is, yes the game play looked sporadic and as if it lacked polished, but a lot of that was because both users constantly pressed the double team button as if it was a defensive assist which lead to out of place defenders and an overall awkward look. (If you don't believe me cross reference every video that has came out for elite.)
If i had any questions for the developers it would not be if the crazy free throw line dunk is still an issue.
But rather i would ask more important questions like can u actually box out in this game because that is necessary.
And are the fouls going to be turned up...for example a derrick rose dunk had 2 be a foul simple because Oneal was in the restricted area. That is a big deal.
Oh and can you still walk the ball down the court.

Couple things I don't like so far:

- Crab walk
- Post up animation is still facing wrong direction

A lot of guys can dunk from that distance in the NBA, they just need a running start from half-court..

I have the same problem with both basketball games. If you hit DUNK the split second you have an open lane and you're at the max dunk animation range, the game ignores defenders, teammates physics etc...all to make sure you get to the rim and attempt a dunk.

This needs to change when the next generation of consoles come out.

(I do have a programming solution to this problem if any dev cares to change this part of the landscape)
Im pretty sure boozer can't dunk from the free throw line with two hands man..especially not literally over KG. The distance is a problem as well.
