That Brendon Haywood reach on Wade was terrible. You've got a 7'0" center running side by side with Wade, reaching across his body and knocking the ball away. That's not acceptable gameplay to me so I hope the 'sim' sliders address plays like that. I don't understand why the program the game to make attempting steals the foundation of defense.
That looks exactly like 2k10 when someone knocks the ball out of your hand it almost always goes back to the defense for some unknown reason. They've got to make that more of a 50/50 type of thing if they can't get it right visually.
On top of all that irregardless of casual or sim sliders steals look to be still cannimated. Brendon Haywood's steal attempt gives him a magical speed boost allowing him to catch up to Wade, even to the point of almost getting in front of him.
2k/VC has got to completely get rid of these cannimations because it's hurting the gameplay.
If you really look at it, it looks like Wade fumbled it where in 2k10 its always off the defender yet the defense gets the ball.
The passes looked great, though the pass and baseline defense looked awful. The Marion to Haywood play would have been beautiful if that wasn't an awful pass.
Considering the casual setting, the only thing I don't like so far is the replay right after the 1st dunk. I was hoping for less of those and more replays during stoppages. Was there a setting for that?
I'm not pleased by what I'm seeing in these videos - collisions are still terrible - player's arms going through another player's head when making a pass. first of all, the AI didn't pick a proper pass animation for the situation, and the defender was right on him, yet he allowed the passer to pass the ball right through him without tipping it.
Defenders overall look stupid. They are always out of position and they appear to have no awareness. There appears to be no real body contact on dunks, as I didn't see the dunkers or the defenders get bumped at all, when they should've slammed into eachother.
dribbling does not look improved much. Players still accelerate too slowly and cannot "explode" out of a standing position - instead, they slowly shuffle their feet for a few steps before they pick up speed like in 2k10. Also, when changing direction while dribbling, players still have that "hitch" where they stop moving to do a crossover and they completely lose their momentum/speed.
I know some of this will be improved on Sim gamestyle, but some of it is an animation/control/physics issue that cannot be fixed.
Figured it was PC. They're not displaying 360 or PS3 at Gamescom?

No, the image I posted was from the PC version, not the fact they are playing the PC version at Gamescom. They are playing a 360 demo.
Look everybody is not going to be pleased or they just gonna make up stuff because they play that other half *** basketball game. The real 2k fans know that this video shows much progress and that the game looks very good. You got one guy talking about the steal being a canned animations for steals. If you look at the video Haywood was using turbo, but was not locked into a set animation. There are physics in the game so there will be contact and thats exactly what happened. Haywood used turbo made contact with wade while trying to steal the ball. The end result was D-wade losing the ball. Lets not forget they the game is on casual so there was no foul called. Guys really need a bigger TV or Monitor because i just zoomed in 160% and didn't any canned animations.

why does everyone keep saying the game is on casual?
Yeah. Didn't see him take off his warmup either. Maybe he already did.
OMG. You guys are going to start complaining about something that's NEVER been done in any video game now? Them coming straight off the bench has always been there. In the game(NBA2K, not the real NBA), they only go to the scorer's table in certain situations.

Yes, you can set action replays to 'occasional/often/never' in the Presentation options.

they only go to the scorers table if you manually sub players...i guess the complaint is why not let cpu controlled sub show the players go to the scorers table (which i agree)

Its not on casual. Ronnie 2K confirmed it is on the default gamerstyle.
Default Gamerstyle per Mike Wang in the "Making a Smarter Game" dev insight is as follows:
------Default: Kind of a hyper-realism. Shooting %’s will be slightly higher than real life, there will be fewer fouls, slightly more dunks, more and 1’s, etc. “Let ‘em play hoops” so to speak.--------
In addition to the default gamerstyle, the game is likely on default settings. Usually for 2K that means the level is on Pro, or whatever level is equivalent to Pro.
Is it just me, or does it look like the exact same game?
The lighting looks a little better, but the "improved presentation" looks exactly the same.
Id doesn't look like any gameplay improvements, but that is something that can be felt and not seen.
Its like Elite did so much work to improve the gameplay, that is something that will effect the awesomeness of the game, not Jordan. It just seems like 2k is putting out the same game with a few minor adjustments, and banking on Jordan to sell the game.
For the same reason why I won't buy Madden 11, its looking like that is going to be the case with 2k11. I refuse to buy the same game when I can just download updated rosters.
Just last year at this time most were viewing the interruptible commentary as revolutionary in terms of how it flowed with the action occurring in the game. I think it doesn't get the credit it deserves and adds immensely to the liveliness of feeling like it's a real telecast. Perhaps they could tweak it/tone down the reactions some at times, but I feel it's extremely well done and something to marvel at from a technology standpoint
Agree. I'll go a step further in that the game doesn't get credit for the steps it takes to get closer to real as it stands. The fact that as of this moment, people are complaining about the intricacies of Dirk's shot in certain situations amazes me. The level of detail this game pays attention to is pretty high. But once you crack a door, people want you to kick it in I guess. The commentary, signature system, and presentation as a whole are perfect examples where 2K outside all other sports games (in MY opinion), but still doesn't get the credit it deserves.

I agree it's a shortcoming. Maybe the AI doesn't run sub logic until the dead ball happens. It would make sense. But, again, I agree it's a shortcoming and I'd bet they are aware of it. But it's always been there and there are bigger fish to fry. It's only a slight annoyance, as is the interrupted commentary on big dunks. I'm just saying, don't paint this as some sign of incompetence as some people like to do.
jeez where are you guys coming from? i know theres 43 pages to wade through but its been confirmed by Beluba and The Czar that this was a bad clip and in no means how the final product is going to look and play like....
Trolls don't read full threads man unless they are actively trying to destroy it.
WOW, almost half a K of posts in this thread (barely even a day old) for a vid like this ? Not even the first full length 2K11 trailer got this many replies. I had to sift through the posts to find out the information that really mattered, which is this isn't on the sim setting. Now I can almost completely dismiss this video because I will not be bothered with any other settings besides simulation mixed with superstar & upward.
