I love playing defense, the camera takes some getting used to but I have always been a fan of cameras like the "DRIVE" camera and first person modes for sports games so I DIG IT... also it's so nice to see the play develop from the defense side and hits feel great... Also I made a pick with my LB by dropping into coverage and hitting Y. Was that a fluke 'cause I was in position or does Y jump/catch?

A demo is pretty much always from the final build. Alphas are never released publicly, and betas are referred to as betas. The game's already been pressed onto disc, as it releases in 12 days.

EDIT: That was a fluke. Y does nothing/ Your guy jumps or doesn't automatically.

Thank man, I appreciate it.

Not true. You know how many demos have been released over the years where the demo is a completely different experience from the final build?

I can see this demo being off the final build due to the demo coming so late.

Like DEFT, I'm itching to play this darn demo. I hate Sony and their damn policies of only releasing on Tuesdays. One positive if they start charging for PSN is hopefully they allow for this open door policy like XBL does.

None? If they release a demo less than 2 weeks before a game's release, it's from the final build. A beta is something that is different from the final build and is used to garner feedback for the final game. A demo is a sample of the final game.

The computer's offense is either stupid or the defense is way too good cause it doesn't matter what I call, the defense will get a sack or tackle the runningback 5+ yards behind the line of scrimmage. The camera was something that I thought I would like from watching the videos but when I switch to a different player while a play is happening I have no idea what's going on and for whatever reason when I'm doing a toss play the runningback will run backwards automatically. Outside of the game, everything else is just bland. The stadiums look nice but the lack of presentation will make the games get boring.

The demo really just makes me wish that VC would license the Euphoria engine and make a new All Pro Football.

I'm sorry Matt, but especially in the sports gaming industry, you're wrong.

I can tell you this with first hand knowledge of at least 8 largely released annual sports titles.

What typically happens is they take an unfinished build and have a separate group work on the demo by removing access to features and the like. This is usually done over a month before shipping so it can pass certification and clear before the title is officially released.

With 99% of games, everything is completed a month before shipping, anyway.

About the read the thread but I just wanted to say this before I post more detailed impressions:

-there is nothing more rewarding than a well timed blitz. Especially when you get a clean shot at the Qb.

-Getting hit as a QB while in focus mode is... wow.. words cant explain it.

More impressions later.

Really enjoying the demo.
For now I have given up on switching during the play and instead playing as SS It feels a bit more realistic to me to play my position and when I read a play and make an interception or tackle it is really rewarding.

I have to trust the rest of my team to make the plays they are supposed to.

lol There's no point in going back and forth. You're wrong.

Those on the boards can believe whomever or WHATEVER they choose. But make no mistake about it, you're wrong. I just outlined to you the process.

But some still believe in Santa too, so hey...

Ok Matt Young, you are so correct. Pared has been involved in community days, etc. with developers so he is wrong..................and I guess I am wrong too. You know it all.

Which is why you see some games may not release a demo until AFTER the full title is released. This was the case with the baseball titles this year. They can be done with it on their end, but Sony and MS sit on certifications which push back the demo release so late. Hence the reason things are complete so early.

But hey... believe whatever you would like.

We should probably get back on topic though.

I didn't say anything about it being put together last week. And I've had interactions with developers, know people in the game industry, have worked for gaming sites, and have been an E3 attendee.

I know it's considered sacrilege to either bring up a game's flaws/glitches or to disagree with an established memebr when you're a newer guy, but I'm not just making stuff up. Do I know that what I said is what they did here with Backbreaker? Absolutely not. But is it indeed the case most of the time? Yes.

Please note that, while I firmly stand behind my statements, I mean no ill will or disrespect, nor do I wish for this to turn into a malicious argument.

How about you take the whether its alpha or beta into another thread because this one is for impressions man.

# 237 streamline @ 05/21/10 05:54 PM
whiffing on a tackle and over pursuing has never felt so good.

# 238 Pared @ 05/21/10 05:56 PM
Then you're misinformed or have misunderstood what they told you.

I've seen the process take place. There's nothing left to argue on my part, so... yeah. If someone believes the sky is green, I can't stop them. (I tap out fellas haha)

But again, let's sway the discussion back to the game...

If you have an issue with something, there is still a chance it can be changed in the final (much like we've seen in demos from The Show, NBA 2k, NBA Live, Madden and NHL).

How about you read the thread? Because...

A) I'm not the one who brought it up, and
B) The debate is not about whether this is an alpha or a beta. It is neither.

# 240 Spectre @ 05/21/10 05:56 PM
This game takes some getting used to for sure. However, I immediately noticed just how varied and impressive the player interactions are relative to other games. In my first tackle alley, I was running hard toward the end zone and the defender went low for a tackle but my guy was still able to fall into the endzone.

Really feels fluid and organic relative to the competition. A breath of fresh air in a genre that has been dominated by the lack of innovation.
