"For this update transactions are up to date as of January 24, 2010 (NHL, AHL, Elitserien, SM-Liiga, NLA).

One new player has been added to the game: G Jarosloav Janus (Norfolk Admirals).

Along with that, ratings have been updated."

What's in Tuner Set 1.03?

For online the duration of the post-whistle time has been reduced, and a few gameplay exploits have been reduced.

For offline play once you have the update it will be applied automatically if you still have the Tuning Set option set to Latest (which is the default). Otherwise you can set it to Latest or V1.03. If don't like the changes or prefer to finish your current Dynasties/Be A Pro with a previous tuning version you can also change it (under Gameplay Settings/General). V1.02 is what you'd be using right now if you have the previous update and are set to Latest.

For online play everyone uses the latest tuning update.

There are quite a few changes involved in this update so we'll be watching closely to see how things play out and make any adjustments that are necessary.

More detailed notes on the changes should be posted on the NHL forums/blogs tomorrow. I'll make sure they end up here too."

i agree. it seems like a real easy fix to do.
They also have to get rid of the whipping wristshot all together. Alter the controls for up for a wrist shot and thats it. None of this pushing the stick to the right, then back and whipping a wristshot that always goes in.

Hope I'm not jumping in on a long standing debate, but the first thing to noticeable jump out to me after the latest tuner was the speed of the the CPU in my franchise play. Midway through a playoff series and the cpu speed has definitely increased from the first two pre tuner games. Noticed it most with loose pucks and when the cpu is out of position defensively with ultra quick recoveries.

Not sure if the tuner put more importance on the player attribute slider or what, but, at least in my case, the cpu definitely seems faster.

another positive note about the goalies is they play their depth properly.

before this tuner, bothh the user and the cpu will get some cheap rebound goals, because the goalies play so far out on shots.

the rebound goals scored now are far more legit imo.

also, ive scored 2 clean 5-hole goals on slot shots. it was possible before, but i think its even more possible now.

loving this tuner set a lot.

Im with you on that when the goalies don't have their angles right and pop a

rebound out he cant superman over and make the save all the time like the

other tuner sets, and im scoring all kinds of sweet sniper shots from the slot

area that I couldn't score before this new tuner set like five-hole, right

under his arm pits, just barely above his glove things like that its so

cool.......I love this v1.03 Tuner set too!

Ok, you bastards...yall convinced me to pull out the long cable and get a hold of this tuner set.

I like where my difficulty is, but the goaltenders could use some love and that seems to be what these sliders are all about.

I'm still playing the tuner that came out with the game.

Impressions to come...

Currently I'm playing as the Anchorage Wolverines (Created Team) and I'm 11-15-1 on All-Star.

The update to V1.03 is out now. Note that you cannot go back to the previous V1.03 after you get this update.

These are the changes (on top of the original V1.03 changes).

All modes:
-Poke check effectiveness increased
-Ease of tripping a player when poke check lowered
-Goalie tuning to prevent some exploit shots
-Shot accuracy increased

EASHL/OTP
-Puck control down decreased (still higher than pre-V1.03)
-Acceleration decreased
-Top skating speed increased
-Pass error decreased
-Pass speed increased

Versus
-Acceleration decreased slightly
-Puck control down (still higher than pre-V1.03)
-Deflections increased (same as EASHL/OTP now)

Offline (V1.03 only)
-Screen effect increased
-Range of acceleration slider increased. The lowest value is 25% lower than before the highest is the same.
-Deflections increased (same as EASHL/OTP now)

As always we will be monitoring feedback and watching how the game plays with the latest tuning and continuing to make adjustments as necessary.

Thank God. Gonna hop online in a few to check this out. One of my biggest gripes as a defenseman (or any skater in OTP For that matter) was the slooooooooow breakout passes. Hopefully it's a noticeable increase in speed.

Are you guys going to make a version 1.04??
Reason I ask is because I am loving how the first version of 1.03 plays, and I always would want to go back to that. I'm afraid of downloading this updated 1.03 in fear of the goalies changing from how awesome they play in this original 1.03 tuner.

giddie up..

# 133 mkharsh33 @ 02/03/10 02:28 PM
am i the only person who never downloaded this tuner set? LOL!!

i'm scared to do this as i love my sliders in my bagm mode... and i wasn't sure if i could go back (i'm using 1.01) because i thought i read you couldn't do that (i'm also half-stupid, so that could be my problem too)...

this is exactly why I'm not touching this latest tuner.

Thanks for the update, Redshirt. Nice work getting screens & deflections tuning into non-OTP modes. I like the sound of lowering acceleration for online play and I hope it helps somewhat with the stop & go skating you can't really do on ice.

One question if I may -- does increasing shot accuracy have any effect on the AI shooting tendencies? In other words, would higher accuracy possibly mean more shots by the CPU, or is this strictly aimed at opening up goal-scoring?

You could go back to 1.01 after downloading 1.03, we just won't be able to go back to the first version of 1.03 after downloading the second version of 1.03. I think...

The way the system works is that all of the versions are in one file and there's a limit on the size of it. We're getting close to the limit of that file size so I need to be economical with the number of versions that are kept in it. I'm hoping to get rid of that limitation for NHL11 but for now I've got to work around it as best I can.

Another update already?

Awesome.

Yes!

This is honestly my only complaint with the game right now.

So tired of seeing those "wind up" wrist shots freeze the goalie from 20 feet out with no screen in place.

This is as close to a money goal as there is in the game right now.

Just wanted to chime in. I was loving the game before this tuner set, but the little tweaks have been welcome.

Overall I'm just overjoyed at how good a game of hockey I have this game playing with my sliders on SS. There are so many subtle little hockey plays I can make on hardcore mode, and I think it's on par with The Show at how well it captures a sport.

Only real gripe is the cpu attackers pulling up and dancing in the neutral zone. I'd like to see them chip the puck along the boards a little more and try to at least create battles for the puck down the ice. Other than that, thanks Redshirt and the guy on the NHL team for another great game.
