MLB 2K10 News Post

2K Sports has just posted their Major League Baseball 2K10 MLB Developer Insight, focusing on art direction.

Quote:
"We went through all the stadiums and scrutinized the architectural details and nuances, in an effort to correct anything we saw that has changed since the previous MLB season. We also introduced some new stadiums not in last year’s game. I’m sure you’ll all be excited to see the new Target Field in Minnesota. We worked off of the blueprints of the actual stadium so our stadium will be spot on in terms of accuracy for Twins fans.

We paid a lot of attention to the fields this year, introducing new technology to the dirt which better portrays wetness, degradation, moisture, rake, wear, and traffic. The grass is equally as sophisticated. We took into account the same lighting properties with our dirt, as well as the actual mow patterns for each stadium. We even went as far as taking into consideration the type & length of grass, and the direction it is mowed. I guess you can say we are a little obsessed with grass tech from our football days. We are sticklers for accuracy because we aim to please our simulation fans everywhere!

The environments capture each ballpark’s look and feel and showcase their specific celebrations, ads, scoreboards, and fans accordingly. We made sure to balance the ads within the parks and colors to mimic life, and you will see more real life advertisement slots and sizes than in MLB 2K9. In general, we wanted the environments to capture the real essence of baseball, but differently for the various stadiums across the league."

Apparently he has a couple of them ready, but not approved.

This is getting pretty annoying. Do they need approval from the whitehouse to drop some info its every freaken year.

I really don't understand why people are actually getting upset. Yes, it's disappointing, but this goofed-up misinformation is nothing new for 2K or Ronnie. If you are still hanging on to their words about information, then the disappointment will only continue. I've actually grown to appreciate it's unintentional comedy!

Besides, the week is still young, so we can still get something by the end of it...it's not like a couple days wait at this time of year changes much.

how come they didn't approve a screen? were they offended or was it too inappropriate??

Just a thought, but being this insight is about Franchise mode.Maybe there was a problem with a Minor league team or player being in the shot that the MLB would not allow.

I don't buy the screenshot story. It can easily be swapped or even omitted. This isn't rocket science.
Agree if the screen shot held up the info than just hold the screen, and than just throw out the info. When the screen gets approval than throw that out. Exactly not rocket science, or am i missing something

who woulda thunk

Is there something we haven't heard mentioned about the game yet, like something about real time atmosphere or something like that?

Although, I stil think it'd be in your best interest to get one since the PS3 is much more durable for the most part.
I don't know about all this. Xbox has better games and online experience. Don't mean to get off topic. continue..

This is the same thing i'm saying. Will it kill you guys to wait ONE more day?? It's not that important. I find it comical the way some people get over not having video game info

I wonder who made this quote one year ago...? I'll give you one guess.

This is just completly out of hands. How in the world does MLB2k9 expect to sell or even catch the peoples attention? I gave up on this game. Were a little over a month away and nothing still. Not even a lousy screen shot?

# 152 Artman22 @ 01/21/10 03:30 AM
Wow I must be really important that you go to this extent. Must have a lot of time on your hands. Different senerio dude. 2k9 info came way later then 2k10. We saw the first screens around the 21-22 of January last year. Like I said one more day isn't going to kill anyone. Wow....

I could wait one more day heck i could wait two but thats not the point. The point is everytime there is supposed to be new info there is always a snag. Is it a baseball licensing thing could be, but it just always something.

What, do you mean they'd be too embarrassed to try and even put anything out?

I forgive them for the approval thing, and I understand that. Still doesn't help that this isn't the first time they've hit a snag, and they always seem to push customers away by not having things on time.

They are the kings of "Over Promise and Under Deliver." One would think after continuing to have these issues for multiple years in a row they would realize they only set themselves up to fail by annoucing dates and times for important annoucements on which they continually fail to meet.

# 157 Artman22 @ 01/21/10 11:24 AM
Does anyone know if the info will come out today?

I mean, it really makes you wonder who is running marketing there.

LOL, yep, I had 5 secs to use the search function. If you're going to mock people, don't be surprised if they point out your hipocracy.

BTW, the quote of yours was from January 22 of '09...
