2K Sports just posted details NBA 2K10 patch #2. Plenty of fixes are in store.

"The patch is in the submissions stage. I am sure the holidays not help clear the queue in front of us but know that the patch is submitted and it should be a matter of a couple weeks. The PC patch is still in creation but will be a combination of this and the first patch."

Good stuff, hopefully it'll drop sometime in the next few days.

  • Fixed a rare occurrence where some users would experience a crash during the ‘Connecting to Host’ dialog.

I'm thankful they're still looking to shore things up. I've been pretty satisfied since the first patch but the fact they continue to fix issues is commendable. I'm wondering if the Draft Prospect Retire issue being fixed means that if I've already starting my 2010-11 season, will the prospects playing in the rookie years still retire or will they be good to go once I snag the patch?

I hope this comes sooner than a "few" weeks. As soon as Mass Effect 2 comes out, I'm done with this game.

This. I'm extremely happy w/the game post patch-1 and glad they don't seem to be making any drastic changes that will affect the gameplay/force sweeping changes to sliders people already have in place

I like the sound of the MyPlayer fixes. Having to purposely lose the nba finals to avoid that glitch is pretty lame so it'll be nice to have that glitch fixed.

Why did my Xbox have to die out today?

The way we had it set up before is we knew their ability and we knew what kind of shots they took in terms of they like to shoot mid-range or they like to shoot three pointers, but we didn’t know what type of shot they were actually taking. Do they shoot floaters? Do they shoot fade-aways? Do they shoot leaners? All these little things that end up being the personality of a player is now realized when you play our game.

And then not only is this NOT true in the final product, but no one on 2K's staff says as much as a single word about it despite complaints from the fanbase, and NONE of the patches fixes it is absolutely ridiculous and makes me loathe the fact that I spent 60 bucks on this game.
I know you have tried to edit tendencies and you're still not happy,so try to raise at 80 offensive awarness in sliders section.
I think it helps.

I hope it fixes the cpu passing out of double teams where the ball does a wicked backspin like the ball is a yoyo.

A "rare" occurrence? Is that a joke?

Nah, just typical PR speak. They can't say "fixed the crippling connection error that rendered online almost totally useless." Everything is always a "rare" issue or a "slight" tweak to something that affected a "small minority" of users.

So don't buy the game next year? Your expectations seem highly unrealistic. Even after I've shown you replays of a game where Parker and Duncan were running the PnR, you still make claims as if the game is broken. Can it be better? Sure. But your comments (and thoughts at times) don't seem to be grounded on reality, but rather the fact that YOU know what the NBA is and YOU know how to make a video game better than anyone else possibly can.

There is nothing to fix. It's a difficult feature to implement and to expect this in a patch is ridiculous. I can't even imagine why you would hold out hope for this inclusion in a patch.

Exactly! knowing how 2k is working this year, I didn't have any hope...moreover, there were much more important things to fix.

I know what this game needs to make it a far better simulation, which is what it says on the box-- I have my doubts that 2K wants to or is capable of making a good sim.
In other words, you want the tools to create a game and tailor it to suit your tastes. In other, other words, you want to be a developer, but you don't have a handle on the system in place.

Yet you continue to make claims such as "have my doubts 2k... is capable of making a good sim."

I've never seen someone make such pompous claims on this forum as you do repeatedly. (Actually, that's a lie) That's not a slight, but rather an indignation of the comments where your take is the right one. It's a viral mindset that has permeated your comments over the past few releases.

I have no idea why you put yourself through so much angst. I would have dropped it and moved on long ago.

If you can't get the game to do what you want it to do, in what way is that reflection on a patch being released to fix issues with a game? The two don't coincide completely. This isn't about a freeze that needs to be fixed to continue on in your season, but rather you fulfilling a need to tinker with the game to get it to do what you want, whether it be in the realm of possibility.

And sometimes, you just can't. There's not much more to elaborate other than that. You can't. That has nothing to do with a patch, the game developers and their creation. You will never have the tools to truly do what you seem to want to do, aside from getting a degree in software development and experience in game design.

Seems like you need a create-a-game feature, and that's not something I expect you'll ever see, especially in a patch. Knowing that, why continue to anticipate it?

# 20 Pared @ 01/05/10 11:27 AM
It's not like this is the first time you've gone out of your way to prove a developer "wrong."

Again, nothing indicated that would ever do something like that in a patch. To expect it is... unrealistic, to say the least.

It's right up there with people holding out hope for custom sounds in the PS3 version. I'm sure that's something you'll see next year.
