That's not the broadcast, that's a "gamecast" thing, for when you sim a game.

Gotta say having picked this game up recently and having read the last 100 pgs or so of impressions.....i was expecting more to be honest.
I am amazed that will all the 2k8 guys on this board that i could only find 1 of them that had an issue with the weight of shots. It really is poor imo the ball feels so light, when it hits the rim very little noise and it also seems that when shooting jumpers it does not seem to matter where you release. I have shot on the way up at the top and on the way down from the jump and they seem to fall. I can't fathom this at all as in 2k you had to hit it at the top to get success whereas with this it seems very random.
Obviously the presentation is v good but i am quite dissappointed with the above.
Oh well early days....hopefully it will grow on me.

There's no shoot release point on Live Engine, is well known.
2k's one is even broken, so im not complain too much.

Substitutions in this game suck, way too laggy.

Really? Are you on PS3 or 360? When/where are you seeing problems?

On PS3 they are great, especially in comparison to Live.

360. I think laggy was a bad choice of words. What I meant is that cut scenes take precedence over them. I could be in the middle of making a sub and some cut scene pops up and my subs don't stick.

The cut scenes can eff things up, I usually do them at the FT line or on D and it's all good.

Yep, that's when I'll call mine, too. The only thing I don't like about the subs is that I can't move Wes Johnson or Kris Joseph to the PF spot when I bring up the quick sub menu. I have them listed as playing PF as their secondary position, but still they won't show up. So, if I want to put Jackson at C, Wes at PF and Joseph at SF, I have to pause the game and go to the sub menu.

Yup, that's the one huge pain in the ***. You can't move a SG to the SF slot either - very frustrating.

WOW are you serious? Where is the skill in shooting then? Am i missing something?
2k's may not be perfect but if you release at the top of the jump this is where most fall

Yeah man, that sucks. I started up a dynasty with my Hoyas and saw that I couldn't move Austin to the 2 at times, even though I changed his primary to SF and secondary position to SF.

It kind of kills "on the fly subs" to a certain degree.

Yeah, it's annoying to have to pause the game and go into the sub screen. But, I'll deal with it b/c I dig the game that much.

Beside the fact that is broken, yes, 2k engine have release point.
Live engine (so Ncaa) shooting system is based on statistics (momentum, meter, position, player...). Thats it, no matter if u release top, mid or down.

I find them very twitchy at times so I'm happy it's not based on release. Obviously I'd rather have them tied to some more user-skill but I would need the animations to be tightened up.

Overall, I'm having fun with this game. The visuals are superb and I'm not even a graphics guy.

# 1315 Omega Kid @ 03/15/10 02:12 PM
Honestly i prefer Live/Ncaa approach cuz your skill is based on everything before shoot, and on Ncaa it mean sharp motion offense and control of tempo meter. U get an overall fun experience and tight games.
Im not a big fan of 2k ball's, i found it very frustrating and nearly impossible to enjoy without serious sliders tweaking. Basically i respect their games, i have them all, but i never found really enjoyable for me. Sad but true.
Live and so Ncaa are perfectly playable games straight out of the box, and that's i want from a sim game.

One thing I have noticed, although it's not in the attributes anywhere that I can see, is that some players are catch-n-shoot types and some shoot way better off the dribble. My leading scorer can't hit crap in catch-n-shoot situations but is money off the dribble. Rhythm shooter I guess!

# 1317 Omega Kid @ 03/15/10 03:05 PM
I seriously think the Live engine is focused on slightly scripted mechanics due by limited animations and on purpose to give tight matches. I like that, it deliver what it supposed to do, beside the fact i don't like too much the highly percentage of body contacts. But i have fun playing and thats it.

Gotta play on Varsity man, the contact drops by an insane amount.

Man, I am hooked on this game right now. The game is just a blast to play and the presentation is super cool, even if the replays stutter at times (360).

Just started an SU Dynasty and really like the recruiting setup. Beat Albany by 25; game was tight for a 10 minutes (play 15-minute halves) but I went on a big run late in the 1st and coasted in the 2nd half. Love the crowd reactions as well. When Rautins hits a big 3 or Johnson, Onuaku or Jackson throw down a dunk, the Dome crowd goes nuts.

Really stinks that this game is being dropped. It has so much potential. I had to go through and make a lot of roster edits, but it was worth it as the game plays so much better with a few small tweaks.
