Well I finally have the game and must say I am pretty damn happy. I just finished taking the Irish against the Golden Eagles and won by 11. After only 1 game its obviously too early to see all the pros and cons......but to me there are a lot more pros than there are cons.
Its no 2k8.......but I knew it wasn't going to be, and I didn't expect it to be. If that was my mind set...I would not have bought the game in the first place. The crowd was electric and alive, the commentary was good and never lagged, and the fun I had was more than I was hoping for.
Some slider tweaks here and there...and I feel very confident this will take care of college hoops need through out the winter. I could really tell the difference between using the likes of Luke Harangody and Ben Hansbrough vs my bench guys. The computer team really does focus on the team game as opposed to one individual...which can be good or bad...we will see.
If you're looking for a hard core sim, you may want to look else where. If you're looking for a fun game that does a good job of replicating the college game...I think you will be happy.

Just got the game, I'm going to play a default Varsity 20 minute half game with UConn vs Notre Dame to see how much ND tries to feature Harangody in their offense.
countryboy, thanks again for all of your impressions. I've got a couple of questions....
It may be difficult to notice, but have you seen any enhancements to the "set the tempo" feature they gave us last year? Is it still as important to stick with the tempo you initially set for your team? Do you notice a drop in performance from either your players or the CPU when they play ouside their tempo?
Also Homecourt advantage - do you notice any benefits for being the home team? I guess what I am wondering is what makes a gym one of the "toughest places to play"? Will Duke players receive a ratings boost or will the opposing team's rating slightly decline when playing at Cameron Indoor? Or is it just as simple as a little "shaking" of the screen?

I was on the fence... But I just got the game. What a surprise! I'm really having a great time playing (online). Thanks to all who gave input!
Guys this is the first EA hoops game i have purchased in a while ...have been playing 2k8 for some time...and I friggin love this game...the only problem i was having is there were a lot of steals when i went to the basket so i turned the slider down and this game may be one of my favs ever...
the presentation is outstanding ...the tournament is real and gus johnson rocks...i cant wait to get names to start my dynasty

By the way, how come no one has mentioned the new "player type" feature when you're looking at rosters? This could have a nice effect on the game.
Looking at UConn's roster they have a style for every player...
Majok: post perimeter
Edwards: Complete post
S. Robinson: Slasher
Dyson: Scorer
Kemba: Passing Scorer
Signs of hope...

Thanks for all of the hard work on answering questions with the game. I love it. It has plenty of features for me but the gameplay is great. Having played nba2k10, it is nice being able to bury jumpers!

looks like I may get rid of live in favor of this, as sad as that sounds.. I cant have both games, so with one guy cutting into the costs of the other, it may be a no brainer... still waiting on more impressions.. just wanted to thank everyone once again.. over the years you all have helped me save money and spend money, which is appreciated everytime

Saving a replay at the moment...
Love that when you do the quick sub menu on the fly it shows how many fouls each player has, nice addition that wasn't in Live.
I'm only four minutes in but the CPU's offense is much better than in Live, which you could tell from the demo. No ******** crap going on (bigs shooting threes, quick/rushed shots after one pass, etc).
Losing 14-9 right now, ND is bombing away from deep...

Early first impressions:
I played a little over one half of a game (15 minute quarters), UConn vs UK on All-Conference.
Overall, I enjoy the game! Very rewarding to move the ball around to find the open man for a jumper or find a cutter for a layup. The presentation is actually better than I thought it would be. On top of that, the game is fun. Of course it doesn't have the gameplay of NBA2K10, but I never would expect this game to (yet, right ). NCAA BBall 10 is definitely better than 09.
Another thing, there are over 340 faces in the player editor, 9 different complexions and 5 or 6 body types. And, as ehh stated earlier, different player types. I'm glad we have a lot of options for editing appearances. I wish we had a jumpshot style editor though.
Looking forward to playing more later tonight!
FYI - I didn't play the retail version of Live, but played the demo a lot.

Also another nice bonus in the on-the-fly subbing menu is that you can simply press left and right on each player like in 2K8, you don't have to hit X, then scroll down to find a sub like in Live.
Ok - Played my first game - My thooughts:
- First off - BIG UPS to Countryboy for his detailed impressions. Appreiciate the feedback sir - got me through the night.
- I played as St. Johns vs. Georgetown. Good Grief - St. Johns was rated high! That's my favorite team and all...but C'mon son!
- I could tell within 2 minutes of playing this game it was 200% better than last year. Heck - make that 300%. I tried to get into last years game - but grew to hate it and stopped playing about 15 games into my Franchise. This is a whole new ballgame to me.
- I played a game on varsity..and with feedback from this group before I even played 1 minute I bumped up fatigue and foul sliders. It worked out well.
- The game had ebbs and flows and it's not just NBA live with college uni's. Totally different vibe to the game.
- The crowd noise was good...but NBA Live's sound is much better to me (I think that crowd noise is close to erfect) I'm nitpicking on this one - I know.
- I really hope this game gets some support - becuase I really liek where it's going.
Countryboy said it best - the most fair way to judge this game is based on it's improvement from last years effort. It's a big difference and the team should be recognized for that. That being said - theer is still a long ways to go but in the meantime I definitely will be having fun with this title.

Saving another replay, leading now 19-18. Harangody has the most FGA's for ND (five) and and leads them with 6 points.
Love that they added the "commercial break" commentary for time outs, where it shows a few replays and Nessler says, "We'll back with more college basketball on ESPN after this." DOPE.
Also, similar to Live it really pays off to run a lot of plays. Trying to freestyle all the time isn't going to get you very far.
