NBA 2K10 Q&A: Retail Copy in Hand

I and a few others were lucky enough to attend the NBA 2K10 launch party here in NYC.

We were given full copies of the game and are willing to answer questions.

The only thing I'm going to tell you guys right now:

NO QUESTIONS ABOUT RATINGS. We already post them in the NBA 2K10 screenshots section.

That doesn't sound good at all but hopefully that is something that can be addressed in a patch, if they're able to determine what's causing that.

That sucks for team up guys... hopefully it can get patched for them.

I'm just praying there's no glaring bugs in association mode.

Good point. I'll figure something out.

Here are three things I've seen that definitely are worth mentioning:

1) The CPU passes off the backboard and turns it over way too often. This happens during inbounds plays and baseline passes.

2) There is one instance where the CPU runs the break and the ball handler passes the ball behind his teammate. Now, at first I thought it was an unforced turnover and liked it. But I've seen the same exact scenario happen repeatedly. Looks to me like it's just a broken routine during the break.

3) I can completely abuse the quick pick and roll. At first, the CPU doubles me and does not allow me to get a pass off after about the 2nd or 3rd time. However, I kept at it and the CPU does not have guys fill the paint or at least cheat enough to deflect the pass in there.

Blah.

I hope your retail version is incomplete Pared....

This is why My Player is so important to me. It's the only mode I am certain will work, besides playing in the OS league. The CPU was so bad last year that I can't really trust it until I play it. I don't expect it to be as broken as it was, but Player Lock worked last year even when the rest of the single player was broken. Most of the issues with that mode were fixed when the Combine came out. I have a feeling that My Player will be a A- to an A+, but single player and online play have many obstacles to overcome.

My Player has been completely awesome so far. Except I'm not sure if you can change the camera angle??

As for the PnR's... it's less effective with other guys... It's just that DWill Boozer combo so far. Boozer is a beast and he always cuts well to the hoop. The CPU isn't picking him up well on ALL-Star.

The thread is too long to check so i just want to slip in i noticed about nba 2k10. Momentous trailer #3.. while mo williams was hustlin for the ball against rajon rondo.. mo williams and lebron james are both wearing white headbands @ home. so im assuming that if u choose to wear team or 2nd team, that's when it changes to red. Hoping for a confirmation.. btw thanks for these infos. 2k all the way!!

No, it's a bug that was fixed and got screwed up somewhere between the videos and the final copy. This was confirmed by a dev.

have you tested this pick and roll problem on superstar or HOF?

because everything else seems fixable and playable (high FG %, speed, etc.), but this is really worrying. i saw it pasta padres vid and figured it was just on pro. but if it happens on all-star then it could be a worrying sign.

i was really hoping they would nail the core gameplay and from everything up to now it seemed they have done it (minus a few slider tweaks) but this could ruin it.

hope you have the time to test it out and get back to us, either way thanks a lot for all your work.

so its still red for home?.. pardon me, i didnt really get what u meant by what they actually fixed.. coz ive been seeing red headbands from other trailers.

The headbands are still red in the retail version of 2k10. What I think hes saying is that it was white in previous build of the game but somewhere along development there was a bug that changed it.

headbands may seem unsubstantial to the whole gameplay but it actually makes the game real and right. it complements to the whole feel of the game.. but anyway thanks bros!
