"Hi again Live fans. Well, this is the last gameplay blog you guys will see before the NBA Live 10 demo hits PSN and XBL next week. I’m really looking forward to seeing all your homemade videos and reading your feedback. Keep in mind that the demo isn’t final code, so it’s really just a taste of what you’ll see in the full game. Take my word for it, one of the real strengths of Live this year is playing with and against all the different players and teams, which unfortunately, you won’t be able to do in the demo. But I’ll let Novell speak in more detail on just how deep the AI upgrade was this year and how we took player/team differentiation to the next level with Dynamic DNA. I know you sim-heads out there are gonna love it, so expect that blog in the near future.

But with the demo coming soon, we thought it would be good to give you one more tutorial to help you hit the ground running with some of the new gameplay mechanics. And today we’ll talk about everybody’s favorite subject: shooting the basketball."

I think this latest blog is good.

However, I'm going to have to play the demo. While I did see things that I liked in the 5-on-5 vid; I just wasn't all that impressed. I'll just have to see when the demo comes out and see how it plays.

Just wow. Live is looking amazing this year. Definitely a buy for me. The overall control of your player sets it apart from any game it seems..

Wow that vid looked great.

The one thing that I liked about the vid was that it seemed like every play that was made was all under user control.

Just watching the tutorial showed how much control you have in the game. And it was great to see that every gameplay video displayed that same level of control.

I don't think I've ever seen a Bball game that allowed that much control especially over the shots. This game looks like the first game where everything is under your control.

None of that BS where the CPU does something for you, you are in control of every action. And it looks like this level of control effects all parts of the gameplay from shots to passes.

And Mike hasn't even showed us a vid about the new pick and roll controls either. He posted something about it and it looks like it recieved the same treatment.

I cant wait to get my hands on this game this is definitely a game that will only be able to be appreciated once you play it yourself.

Damn I aint never said control that much in my life, I guess I'm just that excited Lol!!!

Yeah he basically said that he remembers being able to do regular fades while moving but that he thinks it mostly depends on the lateral speed you have. From the video, I surmise that if you are holding RT you will not do a normal fade but rather the step jumper, but if you let off RT and eased up on the LS before doing the fade, it would work as normal.

Love the Raps-Jazz camera angle

spacing is so great

I really like the commentary..for me personally it would be very tiring to hear them talk all the time

btw very impressed by the audio and crowd

+ The shooting tutorial had me drooling. Wow oh wow did that look absolutely sweet. The variation and control you have looks perfect.
+ The f'n dribbling looks unreal. When Wang is just pulling off some good dribble combos in the hangar it's a thing of beauty!
+ Ball/rim interaction. Live finally improved, finally!
+ Plenty more to the good, but I'm lazy, so I'm done with 3!

Negatives
- Saw sliding. Mainly saw it in defenders who were CPU controlled. Maybe I was expecting too much, but it was definitely there.
- Commentary. There were random breaks in commentary and it just didn't flow. Very small gripe.
- Too many layups. However Da_Czar stated this isn't the case in game. But for now all I can go off is the video, and that's what I saw. This could go away easily.

As you can see, the negatives are very minor, the game looks pretty damn good. Unfortunately, I am only buying one game (no time for two) and I will choose the game with the better Dynasty/Association mode.

I was really leaning towards 2K but I'd like to change it up this year. However, Live has to deliver the goods on that mode or I'm going back to old faithful.

I think this year will be purely personal preference, who gives a damn which one is better? (Other than the devs!)

People are going to have a choice between two very good games.
Either way you roll Stew i don't think you can really lose man. I don't envy your decision at all. Thankfully i will be able to get both...

Uh, that was.....AWESOME! This game looks like SUCH a huge improvement over '09 its not even funny. The depth of selection on all the different shots is AMAZING, and I love how they are all user controlled! Wow, I haven't been this excited for a game in quite a while, let alone a basketball game. The playoff atmosphere in the gameplay video, the intensity of the crowd noise, my gosh, I'm speechless. I still need to actually see what the competition has in store (they havent shown much of anything yet), but right now it looks like EA is going to get my money (again).

But the end result is picture perfect shot distribution and percentages. Needless to say, I’m really happy with the way shooting is balanced in Live 10. If you take the time to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your players, and properly balance your offensive attack, Live 10 will reward you. It’s great to walk around the office and watch people playing each other. Sometimes I’ll see one guy trying to play “old school” and continually force up bad shots… and it’s so great to see him getting owned by the guy who plays smart hoops. Finally, mid-range shooting is a valid weapon!

Outstanding. These tutorials are really making my decision tough this year.

Shooting looks fun...finally! From the variety to the individuality to the net and rim physics.

I may switch it up to be honest. I have bought the last 3 or 4 2K hoop games, but this vast improvement has me leaning right now. Whoever can deliver in the Franchise/Season department will be my choice. I love sim engines (stats) that work out of the box. DNA is definitely going to deliver it appears.

I can't wait for the demos to be more informed and just to simply play them!

Great year for hoop fans!

Live looks good this year...NEED DEMO NOW!

# 219 mrprice33 @ 09/04/09 08:57 PM
i haven't been a big live fan since the move to ps2, honestly, but this stuff looks great. it looks so authentic, the players so athletic, that i think i'm leaning back this way after all these years.

the best thing is that it looks like you can kinda play out of control in live. there is a distinct athleticism here that isn't always present in TOG, especially with regard to shooting.
