NBA Live 10 News Post

EA has posted another NBA Live 10 blog. This one covers, shooting the rock. Screenshots and 10 minute gameplay video included.

"Hi again Live fans. Well, this is the last gameplay blog you guys will see before the NBA Live 10 demo hits PSN and XBL next week. I’m really looking forward to seeing all your homemade videos and reading your feedback. Keep in mind that the demo isn’t final code, so it’s really just a taste of what you’ll see in the full game. Take my word for it, one of the real strengths of Live this year is playing with and against all the different players and teams, which unfortunately, you won’t be able to do in the demo. But I’ll let Novell speak in more detail on just how deep the AI upgrade was this year and how we took player/team differentiation to the next level with Dynamic DNA. I know you sim-heads out there are gonna love it, so expect that blog in the near future.

But with the demo coming soon, we thought it would be good to give you one more tutorial to help you hit the ground running with some of the new gameplay mechanics. And today we’ll talk about everybody’s favorite subject: shooting the basketball."

Yeah, someone (Calderon? can't remember) hit the deck and didn't get the call and did a Duncan Face/"WTF?" animation looking for the call while he was on the ground. The Bargnani thing where he lagged behind the play dabbing his face was the best though...

I really liked that too.

As for the organ, I'll have to go back and watch/listen. Was it a generic organ sound? Knick fans will know.

Glad to see the devs acknowledging the sliding as well. I haven't seen it on the boards firsthand, but I'll take your word on it. Hopefully they can improve on it next year. The foot planting is what separated Live last year when moving your player around.

Does anyone else get bothered by the animations after a shot is made and the body is moving in fast forward kind of? Kind of like they're running back on defense fast and then slow down awkwardly. Wish that animation was more seamless, bothers me quite a bit.

I will love this game! I love the amount of control we now have over passing and shooting.

The organ Pared, you can hear it when Harrington gets fouled, on the near and 1. That's the only time I heard it. Not sure if its the authentic organ or not, lol.

I wish they had some more post point animations like in 2k9. Really made the post play camera cuts shine.

That would be one of my nitpicks... the animations during gameplay are very smooth-looking and precise but the post-play AI-controlled cuts look slightly sped-up or something where you can see the different animations connecting. It used to be the opposite where all the scripted AI stuff looked smooth as butter and the user would cause animation problems by shaking the sticks around like a madman or putting in weird commands.

Definitely the most excited I've been for a bball game EVER! I love all the player reactions especially Bargnani wiping his face checkin for blood LOL.

Yeah, it's likely something that can be overlooked by me, but these videos are showing it quite a bit. Rarely do you see players running back on defense that fast, it'd be nicer to just have them walking up court and not have that running animation like they're getting back on D.

Tayshaun Prince. Drove the lane and fell. Pumped his fist at the ref begging for a call. Sweet.

BTW, the Piston's were busting Mike's ***...

So...I'm really confused on this demo launch date for PS3. Wang and others keep saying Sept 10th, in another thread someone said PS3 is Sept 17th. Can we get some type of confirmation from someone?

Just heard it. That's similar to what you hear in MSG on offense.

However, that same snare-drum defense chant is all I heard in the video. That is NOT what the Knicks crowd chants with. Any real Knicks fan could tell you that.

FYI, it wasn't in 2k either.

Sucks. That's exactly what I was looking for too when I wanted to see the Knicks at home.

I'm not a knicks fan but I know what you are talking about. That signature MSG defense chant with the organ. You can hear it in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP9fNdhMEF0

I'm still waiting for a video to include the Bobcats.

Every basketball game has had that problem. Video game transition D would make every coach in the world proud lol.

There ya go.

But yeah, I'm completely wrong and just nitpicking.

It is also there when they do a post play celebration but without a camera cut. They go from the celebration to the full speed up the court and it looks very off. Also, post defense looks like a crapshoot if you don't engage and I'm not in love with the sliding on defense (most noticeable when guys are making turns. Also with turns, there are some times that the defender turns around when he has no business doing so. Will have to play the demo to see whether these issues are merely cosmetic (like the first one) or drawbacks.

That aside, put me down as impressed.
