NBA 2K10 News Post

As a big fan of the NBA 2K series, I’ve watched it transform into nothing short of a masterpiece. During this generation it has easily been the top hoops title when it comes to playability, accuracy and depth (some argue it's the best sports title around), but there are some issues that need fixing. And when you play a certain game a ton, you tend to notice a lot of things you would like to see improved -- not because the game is bad but because you expect the world out of a title you already love to play. So in my next column, I'll to focus on the top 20 issues in the NBA 2K series.

Here, though, I want to focus on some of the things that didn’t make that list. Since these are still vital and necessary issues that need to be addressed, I figured I would touch on them, even if only briefly.

If people didn't like them they didn't have to use them.

Why would they just scrap the entire lobby. It worked well for years.
They announced that they are having unranked lobbies but no ranked lobbies.

Very nice article and agree with everything you said. If they fixed these problems this game would really be something special. Forgot that in 2k4 they fought for position. This would be a very good addition to 2k10 with some nice post moves.

If players see that their stars are racking up fouls, THEY WILL STOP DOING IT. Same thing against CPU make it a reaching foul. What i like about Draft Combine is that in regular games, even if the still attempt results in you getting the ball, 8/10 you get a foul called against you, and on fastbreaks if you attempt the strip from behind, the CPU will still attempt the layup and will usually getting called for shooting foul. One suggestion is they should really make the CPU have more reaching and more shooting fouls on jumpers.
So from the time I inbound the ball, my oppent should be allowed to constantly ride my back all the way down court. It wouldn't be so bad if I had control of my player. That steal animation always pulls your momentum forward. They should take out that animation and allow me as an offensive player to have control. They could add a variety of animations without sacrificing control. I do agree with you that a foul should be called, but I have more of a problem with the repetiton of the animation and the total loss of control.

Great article, I agree with majority of those points.

I think this is a great article but other thing that could be missing from the 2k series is real player speeds. I hate seeing people like Jermaine O'Neal catching up to LeBron James or even Mo Williams. Or even worse some one like like Yao Ming catching up to Ray Allen just because he wants to denfend the ball in a fast break situation.

Its ridiculous that something this basic was forgotten.
I don't recall that being taken out of 2k9.

There were some players who shot the ball with almost no control. Maybe Szczerbiak or Kenyon Martin (at least on the roster update I've been using). But yeah, most of the players released the ball when you "told" them.

This was a nicely well thought out article and I do agree with what was being said, these improvements would definitely make 2K better.

Agree on the free throws. That's been a problem for years.

Outside of the back and forth bickering of an opinion , this is a fantastic thread. I also agree with most, if not all, of the gripes. The FT boxout gripe is a huge one for me. I've been bone so many times because of that garbage. I figure it's a hard one to get perfect, but as long as I see some improvement I'm happy. I'm sure they'd acknowledge it as a problem.

hahaha...tell us how you REALLY feel And1! i hear ya buddy...you went off a lil bit, didn't you? i think we all want a more SIM game honestly...and 2K has constantly done a good job of giving that to us...perfect? NOPE. best hoops game going tho....

chuckle...i guess i wasn't the only one who was kinda confused with smoke4dayz (who only plays HOF apparently) talking about dunks...but who knows, maybe they're FEW and FAR between on that difficulty (which would be a good thing) either that or the rest of us are just totally UNWORTHY...

we salute you even-the-highest-difficulty-is-a-piece-of-cake-guy!

on another note, my "NBA 2K Top 20 List" drops soon...so don't change that DIAL, guys..

great article.
although i must admit i disagree that it is "nothing short of a masterpiece" bit, true it is the best basketball simulation game out, but there are a few minor as well as major adjustments that need to be made to bring it to the next level

All that is cool what you saying but I'm more into the gameplay and that could use a lot of improvement. Like the interior scoring when there is a shot blocker in there you might as well chalk up 4 or 5 blocks for that player. The use of the shot stick is useless I thought the way you press the shot stick the type of layup you suppose to shot. Example: If Tim Duncan is on the right side of the goal and I hit the hit stick to the left it would avoid a block attempt bc I'm guarding the ball with the rim. No, but in 2k9 it was like a magnic they made you go to the side the shot blocker is on!!! Ball handling, exploit passing down the middle, the spin move and hesitation dribble where gliches I saw that needed approvement. 2k has always been the better game but things like this has given NBA Live a fighting chance to come back from their 14 yrs disappearance! The pump fake was cool with me I thought they stole the ball to much depending on the team you played (Boston,Lakers, Spurs...etc) but when you finally get somebody in the air it takes you 15 mins to move by that time the defender is back in place and 75% of the time results in a charge! Those things along with what you said as far as the gameplay are the main concerns that would make 2k undeniably the best basketball game to play. P.S. NBA Live makers interductions with Dwight Howard doing the superman and signature handles that doesn't shake the man in the trailers are gonna cut it!!! LOL
