Uhm...so the impressions are really great. Glad to see Realm fallin' in love with it.
I have a question...I'm not gonna have Live for a week or so, but my neighbor has Live. I was wondering if I took MY hard drive over to his house, could I DL the demo onto my hard drive???
Only if he lets you. I'd ask him before doing it, though.
PSN store updates at 7:00PM EST for me. If you really don't want to wait create a European account, which should get you the game by around 2:00PM EST.
It updates at 5:00 EST, plus its probably not in the USA/CANADA store, its prolly in the european store.
I noticed my CPU defenders did a poor job of defending the cross crease passes, they seemed to react like they did in 09 despite what the blog videos showed. Gotta play a little more and see if this is really the case. Like someone else said they act weird in the neutral zone, constantly turning around when you dont let them carry over the blue line. They do this at least twice before trying to dump it if you have everything defended well. On a good note, CPU D did do a good job of pinching me as soon as I crossed the blue line on a lot of occasions causing turnovers that wouldn't have happened last year.
I noticed this in one of the newer gameplay videos. I think it was Littman scored on a cross crease while the D just stood there. I just hoped it was a lower difficulty. It will be disappointing if this is still there.
Thank God they fixed the strategies to where you can change them during cutscenes and it actually apply those changes.
Love the board play and puck physics. I played NHL '09 more than any sports game in a long, long time, so I'm definitely pleased. I do wish they would have done more with presentation, but then-again, I've been begging for this from EA for years now. It looks and feels a lot like 09, but it definitely has improved.
Has anyone figured out how to do a drop pass like Datsyuk made for Holmstrom in one of the first raw gameplay footage videos?
Also, how do you face wash?
The drop pass can be done in two different ways. Either release the left stick (so your player is gliding) and tap RB, or hold Vision Control (LT) and tap RB.
A face wash happens when you tap Y (not press) from behind a player, it should be easy to do post-whistle when everyone is standing still.

Thanks, can the face washing be done before the whistle, I mean while in normal gameplay?

Also, for anyone interested, you can do the leg lift/fake shot by pressing the right stick.

I think this will work (never tried it though), you would need to move his XBox profile to your 360, download the game and then move the profile back.
I would not recommend using xbox profile recovery to move the account, a memory card would be safer if you have one available. Otherwise make sure you know what the consequences of doing the recovery would be for your friend.
I'm not sure that it would cause your friend problems, but I have a suspicion that he might loose information when he re-recovers it on his xbox.

This is fantastic. Much slower and more realistic flow to the game; I think someone mentioned that it wasn't just an 'up and down' kinda game and that's really the best way to describe it.
Hardcore passing is a challenge but it makes you actually feel like you're doing something when you make a decent breakout pass. I set up a nice goal and I was actually excited to get an assist - that's definitely a first in videogame hockey.
I suck terribly at the fighting but it's pretty neat. It's not as loose as I thought it was going to be however. I'm not sure if it's just that the rest of the game plays so loose and realistic that it just makes the fighting seem a little stiff or what but something is off there.
The after whistle scrums are a neat addition, especially the way you get mobbed for poking at the goalie after he freezes the puck. The only downside to this in the demo is that it seems like there are offsetting penalties almost EVERY time, I hope that's something that is adjustable - I want to be able to try to draw people into penalties and such.
I really can't wait to get my hands on this game. Once again they've managed to take an almost perfect game and make it better. I thought 08 was the greatest thing ever until I played that 09 demo last year and couldn't go back to 08, it's looking like the same story now with this demo and 09!

Oh and Redshirt, while I have your attention...
Do you know if the Tampa Lightning home jersey is accurate? They have their numbers on the front (like the away jersey and like Buffalo and Dallas). I don't think it's been right in either 08 or 09. I've tweeted this to Rammer a couple of times but he did not respond.

They have had numbers on the front of the away jersey but not the home jersey since 08, when we had to enter the code to get all of the new Edge jerseys.

This game is incredible. I love that they slowed it down and now it's much more tactical. I'm definitely going to have to get used to this hardcore passing system but I think I'm slowing getting the idea.
I love that both teams play defense, and at the same time the CPU just doesn't try to rush into your zone. They will literally circle in the neutral zone waiting for you to make a mistake.
You have to fight for every foot of ice - board play is everything it's supposed to be and essential to a good forecheck and works on both sides of Offense and Defense.
The CPU fills up the passing lanes and WILL pick off passes if you try to make the long, flashy pass - that dog ain't gonna hunt in NHL10
Oh, and if anyone wants more playtime in the demo - have the game tied at the end of the 3rd period to go into a full 20min period. I just did it and then the CPU scored on me with about 7seconds left in the first OT.
