2k9's player model details were incredible, and like said Sage said along with others was the best looking basketball game. Thanks to detail. That is the one area 2k has always had a strong point.

I'm saying terrible from those screens, because I mean they don't look any different. It's looks like they are pulling a EA sports when they release NCAA FB 10 which looks like NCAA FB 9.5.

From the looks of those screens, it looks like NBA 2k9.5 not 10. I might be jumping the gun, but the competition is really changing and it seems TT is keeping Visual Concepts in a freeze frame, and are slightly letting up on the pause button. I'm not seeing much difference in graphics. But then again, it's CAP detail, not in game models. Even thought that previous Shaq and Lebron image didn't look all that hot either.

Shadows you've been around long enough to know 2k's visuals improve in screenshots all the way up until the game is released. The 1st screenshots always look exactly like the previous year. The same people complain how it doesn't look any different then take it back once the newest screens are released. It happens EVERY single year.

Same ****, yhou just rewrite and tweak code and waaalaa you got a engine that works for the next gen. Its the same darn stuff just more powerful hardware to work with lol
BShadows has said this before, but the only thing that makes 2K look nicer are the actual player models (meaning that the models look more like the actual player than Live) and the smooth animations. The actual graphical quality in Like 09 was far better IMO... everything from the skin textures to the court were sharper and looked more "next gen" to my eye. Similar to Fight Night vs UFC -- both games look really nice, but UFC looks more like a game than like real skin/humans.. I got the same vibe from 2K9 vs Live 09.

I know not everyone agrees with that, but I definitely think that Live has higher-quality graphics overall, and when the player models step up to match it (as we saw with that Melo shot), it'll be the nicer-looking game. Maybe 2K will blow us away, but they've basically been improving skin and textures every year with the same core graphics tech.

Totally agree with this. I also think 2k captures the atmosphere of the arena better too, as far as the baseline benches and surrounding court goes. Live everything feels disconnected from the court. 2k the arena actually looks crowded like a real game.

Not sure what you're trying to get at. It's screenshots. Personally I don't plan on taking a bunch of still pictures of the game when I play it; what will matter is how the game plays/looks in motion. You've been arguing this "2K9 needs a new engine NOW/the competition's technology blah blah blah" argument for years. If 2K9 is already the best looking basketball game, what kind of drastic changes are you expecting? Given what they've done to date I'd give them at least a *little* credit in thinking they'll improve different aspects of the game. It's the same argument as in years previous - change for the sake of change makes no sense.

You think that Melo shot is a step up? looks BAU to me- model looks he same IMO....not to take away from the facial improvements though...

**** graphics, keep em the same, I want gameplay and more customization.

It all looks great though. The customization gets better every year.

I'm always against DLC and never bought any Microsoft Points, but I might have to check this 2k10 Draft Combine out. Mess around with the CAP(looks great this year; eyebrows ) and check out new gameplay features should keep me busy til I get my basketball fix(2k or Live, undecided).

Oh, and hopefully they hired a different '2k Insider'. I wish they stretch the ratings this year.

2nd Round Pick rated 37?

# 128 infam0us @ 07/28/09 07:28 PM
Didn't they expand the ratings to 25-99?

I must have missed something. If true, that's great.

Now lets see if the Insider uses the new scale.

All that being said, I think you guys will be much happier with the ratings this year thanks to a stretched out scale, among other things. I know I am. I'm leading the no more 99-rated players campaign!

By all the 2k9.5's I'm hearing, I hope you guys are talking about the graphics alone. Because judging a game and saying it is "___.5" by a couple screens and past history is indeed, jumping the gun. 2k10 might have something new under their sleeve this year, let's just wait and see

when i make that statement, im solely speaking on the graphics. just wanted to clarify that. We have no idea as to the improvements in the gameplay department, so i cant speculate on that.

I don't understand how 2K can decide to release this in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and India but not Europe?!

Another slap in the face to the PAL users, we aren't getting the anniversary edition either.

its honestly pointless to complain about graphics this early. Yes, live has released great shots but thats never been 2ks game to release alot of in game stuff early.
