2k series has barely improved each year, other than switching the button configuration, removing and adding animations, and changing the way it presents itself with flash.

I'm the biggest 2k guy and everyone on OS knows it, but it's really time to come with it. And Take Two still don't seem to care that NBA Series has competition and they need new technology, not just new animations and flashy download features.
"If it ain't broke don't fix it". That is the motto of majority of businesses, now if Live brings it and more people switch to Live then 2k, 2k will have to come with a new game engine, But remember they have a short development cycle., If 2k wants a new engine for 2k11 that means they would have been working on it last year, if that makes sense, U don't build a new engine from the ground up in a 1 year cycle in this case basically 10 month cycle.

I agree and it's past due, they've known the limitations since Xbox1. Did it really take 5 (360) games for them to realize that!

Call me a sucker cause I'm hungry for the bait. So you are saying that they need to scrap their graphics completely or do they need to invest in something to make their players pop off the screen? Used the "overhaul" post every hear but the game looks lovely my 1080p display. Please give me a breakdown of what youthink is past due?

It's a argument I'd rather not continue, as it never changes. You say it looks great and so does everyone else. Guess I got spoiled on how much they use to change every year to how they just barely evolve since they got to 360 and PS3.

But everyone is happy with the cartoony looking graphics they have now! So it's point!

Praise them! they are doing a great job with this pointless I have to pay for feature. $5 or not, it should be included for free!

The main reason why I say it is good is because you get to play with the game a little early, thats it.

Live 365(a feature) costs money, yet you stuck up for EA when I complained that I couldn't get a simple roster update for "free"

Lets not take it down that road.

It's a service that is updated all year long, compared to a drafting feature that you do like an additional map!

Not even the same thing or in comparison. Next Page!!!!

Im paying for a roster update.. So you have zero room to complain about this feature costing $5. Hilarious.

Final post on this topic!!!

Dynamic DNA is a feature tracked by Synergy and updated daily to give us realistic ratings and A.I. for cpu players to mimic and play like their real life counterparts. It's all season long and post season rated. So at least 280 days of updates on 28 plus teams that I didn't have to do manually. Not to mention completely update accessories.

Compared to a download feature, that makes it able for you to put yourself into a game. Create a player with the ability to get drafted. Something that could have been put on the physical disc! It's not something you get updated from from 2ksports all year.
Your argument is pointless and these two subjects don't even add up or equal one another.

Back to the subject, NBA 2k10 draft feature seems cool, and yes $5 isn't going to break anyone. If it will give extra development dollars to get 2ksports and VC time to develop another graphics engine, then I'll donate! I mean **** I'm already coughing up many dollars to get that damn collectors edition.

Im asking you to stay out of the 2k forums with this stuff

Dont turn this thread into another vs thread and definitely dont go in the name calling territory. First and Last warning

good news on the career mode waitin to see what comes next, cuz if u follow 2k's pattern compared to years past the timing of this info release lines up with the dunk contest feature. At this time last year association 2.0 info wasnt even released yet, and i doubt 2k left their strategy of saving up information till the end just yet.
Hopin for a lot more to come

I love the feature, love the DLC. Costs as much as two Rock Band songs, or a very cheap sandwich. Very much looking forward to this. Wish it dropped in August.

I think I'm gonna make Springs from And 1, or Kevin Durant's older brother.

Am I the only one that see this like the new type of demo? The company let you taste the new game before it ships like a demo, but converted into a new mode so we have to pay for it.

I don't blame 2K for making us pay though. I blame them for not shipping this in Europe

Fellas, enough with the "engine" talk. Back on topic.

It's honestly not an argument. I think I'm just missing your desire. I honestly want to know. Maybe shoot me a pm if you feel that there are people waiting to bait into an argument. I do agree that the 365 feature trumps this one in all aspects because it bring replayability for years to come in such an in depth way. Even moreso than anything else that we've seen in gaming. I think that they were generous for only charging $20 for the used also. They were basically covering up their behinds for those who want to use it. Can't use it for free which is something I wouldn't mind other companies doing in moderacy. If there is something in there that elevates the gaming, then charge for it for those who pick up the game as a used later on down the line which only seems fair.

I am genuinely curious to see what others are complaining about. I do see that the graphics and textures do need to be upgraded a bit. The textures in Live look so much more realistic. Their hair styles are so truer to reality also. I hate the hair in 2K. Negroid players still have painted on hair that is not true to color or texture. The Caucasoid players have painted on hair that just doesn't match. The skin textures need to definitely be overhauled. However, it still looks great in my opinion. There are little things within the game that do need tremendous touching up, especially seeing that we're on a new set of systems with more power.

I think that they're also focusing on the gameplay more than those visual aspects. Though Live upgraded their graphics to look well, they are apart of a poorly implemented system. Their hair styles look too great BUT the player models aren't proportional to what we see in reality. The arms are too long and the bones/muscles aren't correct. The movement isn't clean either which turns off so many people. I think that I like 2K's focus more than Lives because of the main push for the gameplay improvement.

I am sure thats what 2K has done, just modified it. If they start over, they are pretty much going to use the same stuff. I am sure they rewrite a quite a bit of code every year.

This whole making a new engine thing is crazy. Exactly what engine are they supposed to rewrite? lol
I think too many people see the phrase "new engine" and "from the ground up" too often. They don't see what the difference is. Though Madden might be made from the ground up, there are still parts in it that are true to the previous installments. I love how it looks but in motion, it reminds me of why I'm not exactly the best fan. It is making strides though which is fantastic. I recalled that Ian Cummings tossed a very informative post on this site that so many people may have overlooked or just plain ignored. I'll continue to put the post down so that people can continue to read it and become informed according to their own thoughts and not from other people's words.

Can People Please Stop Asking For A New Engine??

Get informed OS!!

Good way to steal our money with a work they already did for NBA2K10. I guess they need cash. I just hope that they improve the gameplay and graphics (little change since 2k7), the rest is secondary, make a better baskeball game and leave the gimmicks for NBAlive. Oh! please fix the signature shot for my countryman Pau Gasol.
