I have noticed a lot of the game play improvements in the PIT/ARZ demo like the qb standing tall in the pocket especially when looking deep down the field or the db's engaging the WR's much better than in previous maddens. I also notice that blitzes seem more effective, DB's making clear interceptions and not jumping out of the building or going through the WR to get the ball. I purposely threw the entire demo with the cardinals to get the feel of the passing game and it's very well done. I'm throwing slants with a clear view of the WR and when it is well played by the DB it's not always an interception.

The AI is definitely better, trying to run down the clock when it has the lead and throwing passes to the sidelines when it tries to get into field goal position. Blitzing me on long 3rd downs and the days of throwing accurate passes with the pass rush in your face seem to be over and that goes for the CPU too. Now mind you, I would think it's the same in the DAL/NYG but there just isn't enough time to notice it IMHO.

thanks

How's everyone doing with field goals? I just attempted a 48 yarder with the Giants kicker with 14 MPH winds adding to his strength, the meter filled all the way up and the kick didnt even make it to the endzone?

And the Romo throw during the pre-game doesn't really look like Romo to me. I thought he had a little bit of a sidearm in his throw in real life and in the game its as over the top as can be.

This demo has done nothing but increased my anticipation for Madden 10, do some legacy issues remain? Yes, but have Ian and company busted their butts to make as many improvements as possible during this development cycle? Absolutely! Has anyone even talked about the BALL PHYSICS? FINALLY on punts and kickoffs it doesn't feel like I'm kicking a flippin' potato; the ball actually bounces around and has physics to it instead of just hitting the ground and staying there. This is going to make onsides kicks and punts actually worthwhile and exciting sometimes. I also think the graphics in the Giants vs. Cowboys demo look cleaner than the Steelers vs. Cardinals one, but after closer inspection, I think that the snow effects are masking some of the jaggies (which I hope aren't in the retail version).

All-in-all I am happy with what I see, once I can tweak some sliders and settings, I can (for the first time) see myself playing a whole season or franchise of Madden. Kudos to the accessory/uniform guys, I love seeing linemen with their sleeves rolled up while the QB's have longer sleeves, etc...It really is small details like that that actually make you "feel" like you are playing with whatever team you choose. I also dig the new offensive and defensive packages that make better use of guys like DeMarcus Ware (e.g. moving them around, standing them up, putting them in a three point stance), again, it's a nice touch that should make losing guys of that caliber force you to alter your defensive gameplan some. Heck I might even go to the midnight release for this one!

I hear what you are saying but from what I am seeing Willy Parker just keeps on breaking tackles and sometimes more than just one guy. I seen it with Boldin too but I can understand him a little more.

I've only attempted 2 field goals thus far and both were within 35yds and I made one and missed one wide right. I have seen others mention though that the field goal kicking seems very underpowered.

Question:

Anyone have a big run up the middle yet? I've seen videos of long runs to the outside and had those myself, but I can't not get a long run up the middle at all. Most yards I've got is around 12 and then I get swarmed everytime. But outside runs seem easier to get huge gains.
Yeah, I had a few with Willie Parker. Not sure if it's because the Cardinal's DLine sucks or what... but I ran all over them this morning.

How are you playing as teams that aren't the Cardinals or Steelers?????

I had a 79 run up the middle against the steelers and another one for like 49 on the same quarter.

The kickers in the Cowboys/Gaints demo were very weak. Maybe it's supposed to be the weather, but even with the wind at your back it doesn't seem to matter. In the other demo I've made a 54 yard FG with Rackers.

My opinion of the passing game has flipped, I like it now that I've gotten a better feel for it. The running game though feels like same old, same old to me. Stopped in the backfield, stopped in the backfield, 70 yard TD run. I really hope the ball flying through people is one of the things that got ironed out in the extra few weeks of polish. I threw a TD that shouldn't have happened, CB made a great play on the ball but it went right through his hand.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree. I know the Dal/NY demo is WAYY to short but I think it is definitely from a newer build. The pass rush is way more aggresive in the Dal/NY demo, to be honest I do not even think the Ari/Pitt demo has the new "pass rush fix" that Ian found.

Also, I think we can both agree that the graphics are MUCH sharper in the Dal/NY demo but I think that may be because they are both 1 GB demos and the DAL/NY demo is 16 minutes shorter. What do you think about the gamespeed between the demos? I think the Pitt/Ari is on slow (default offline speed for Madden 10) and the NY/Dal demo is on normal speed (On-line default speed) IMHO I like the speed of the NY/Dal demo better.

There's 2 demos. the Giants/Cowboys demo for people that didn't preorder and the Cardinals/Steelers demo for people that did. I have both.

anyone think the defensive ends are too fast? by the time i snap the ball, there is someone back sacking my QB..or on a running play, my RB can't even make it back to the line of scrimmage.

There are two demo's, the public demo is four one-minute quarters between the Cowboys and Giants.

X360 Gold Members can download a 1 minute, 4 quarter demo of the Cowboys vs. Giants at The Meadowlands in a snowstorm. This same demo will come to PSN on Thursday, a week later.

wow, i'm really happy they've made it so that you can break through more tackles this year..but on a kickoff, felix jones just broke through atleast 6 tackles and scored...that's pathetic.

I'm still a bit concerned that FG's are too easy, especially for the CPU. Rackers drilled a 57-yarder on me last night and it probably would have been good from 60.

Just curious, whats the download size of the Giants/Cowboys demo?

# 1498 ChampIsHere42 @ 07/25/09 11:26 AM
How are the people with the Cards vs. Steelers doing with passing? Passing is unbelievably difficult this year, I can't thread the needle to any WR's. Maybe it's because of the weather factor since I only have the Cowboys vs. Giants in the snow storm. I hope this gets better.

Secondly I don't want to pre-order because I can get the game before it releases in the stores. Why be locked into waiting on til the 14th when I can get by the 10th or 11th.

The logic sometimes by EA just baffles me... Oh well
Logically you should not be able to get the game until the 14th. Like most of us.

# 1500 MidnightPyro @ 07/25/09 11:31 AM
Can you still pre-order Madden with the bonus? I'm seriously tempted. I played the demo and I was really impressed. This might be the first Madden game where I buy it in a store on the day it's release in a couple of years, and not off eBay 3 months later
