Really confusing me here. Is it just because he told us ahead of time that the pass rush was yet to be tweaked in this early build that everyone decides to whine about it?
Good point. It's as if people don't realize it's a demo without some specific components. They act like this is the final game.

Definitely impressed because the last 3 versions of madden have been unplayable for me. The atmosphere is definitely up to the 2k level IMO (sorry had to go there). The player models finally look proportionate to their positions. I notice some player separation finally, i.e. Marion Barber looks and moves like Marion Barber. I love the slow pace of the game, which allows me to have a clear view of my receivers as they run their patterns. I don't agree with some of the complaints about the pass rush. madden 10 makes it feel like I am in control of my d lineman, and I have never liked playing middle linebacker in any game before this but now I can blitz or go side to side and feel like it's all me. Love the passing mechanics, still not perfect but much better than in the past. I haven't seen the super human dbacks once. Even on interceptions (which I have thrown a lot of) the DBacks seem to jump at a normal height and that goes for knock downs too. So far so good IMHO for MADDEN 10.

Question:

Anyone have a big run up the middle yet? I've seen videos of long runs to the outside and had those myself, but I can't not get a long run up the middle at all. Most yards I've got is around 12 and then I get swarmed everytime. But outside runs seem easier to get huge gains.

This 1 minute Quarter DEMO crap is lame.... Can't do crap because before you know it the DEMO is over. You gotta be kidding me with this BS EA is pulling

Maybe it was because I was half-asleep and wasn't paying attention, but why wasn't I able to find a way to put a man in motion on offense when I tried out the demo last night? Was this left out of the demo?

If playing on PS3 press the circle button to change players on offense. Select the receiver/back that you want to put into motion and then use the L-Stick to do so.

Dude, YOU...ARE...AWESOME! Thanks so much. I knew they couldn't have left out something that basic.

So spend 5 measly dollars and pre-order to get the 5 minute quarter demo. If you don't like it can't you use the 5 dollars for another game? I have both of the demos and it's a huge difference with the quarters so now I have a good idea of which way I will go come August. Pretty simple if you ask me, and you didn't but I'm just saying..............

I'm seeing the defender hit an outstretched receiver in the back of the legs leading to a dropped pass a little too much for my taste. Is anyone else seeing this animation play out more than "seems normal"?

Was enjoying this vid. of LT. And of course I don't analyze it to death, just was fun to watch. I think I hate the most of the running animations is when the CPU runner zig zags! Grr.

Maybe this thread should be renamed to Impressions/Opinions thread.

Hey Eddie, I have a question for ya since you've played both demos. Is there a difference in the gameplay of the two? I've seen several people mention that the Dal/NYG demo seems more polished than the GS demo and was curious as to your opinion.

I have seen the safety do this on occasion when the db misplays the ball. I kind of like it myself. Doesn't seem to be overly done IMHO.

I'm enjoying the demo for the most part. Love the steps they've taken as far as presentation and I think the graphics are good. Gameplay seems improved as well. Just a couple of issues...

Is anyone else having a hard time generating a pass rush? I've used both Arizona and Pittsburgh and have yet to record a sack. I think I have one knockdown. Other than that, I haven't gotten close to the QB. I'm usually a d-lineman on obvious passing downs because I like the challenge of getting to the QB and forcing pressure.

I wish the receivers would be a little more intelligent in breaking off their original routes when they're not open, especially since there is no more playmaker control. A lot of times, they just seem to stand there and don't make an effort to get to an open space on the field. Anyone else notice this?

Sorry but 5 measly dollars to you ain't 5 measly to me. Why should I be basically forced to pre-pay in order to get a DEMO that's worth playing.

Secondly I don't want to pre-order because I can get the game before it releases in the stores. Why be locked into waiting on til the 14th when I can get by the 10th or 11th.

The logic sometimes by EA just baffles me... Oh well

Is it just me or are there too many broken tackles? I stopped Willy Parker twice on 3 and 5 and he broke 3 tackles both times to pick up the first down to cost me the game. Com'on I see a broken tackle on like every other play.

Meh, it's not awful for me. I've seen a few broken tackles but nothing crazy. But sometimes superhuman efforts happen in real-life and that should be reflected in the game. Eli Manning refused to go down in the Super Bowl, Roger Craig broke off a ridiculous run in 1988 against the Rams where it looked like he was tackled 3 or 4 times, etc.

To me the only difference is that you get to notice more things in the PIT/ARZ demo simply because of the 5 minute quarters. I have played the DAL/NYG demo one time and playing that alone would not have sold me. I have noticed a lot of the game play improvements in the PIT/ARZ demo like the qb standing tall in the pocket especially when looking deep down the field or the db's engaging the WR's much better than in previous maddens. I also notice that blitzes seem more effective, DB's making clear interceptions and not jumping out of the building or going through the WR to get the ball. I purposely threw the entire demo with the cardinals to get the feel of the passing game and it's very well done. I'm throwing slants with a clear view of the WR and when it is well played by the DB it's not always an interception.

The AI is definitely better, trying to run down the clock when it has the lead and throwing passes to the sidelines when it tries to get into field goal position. Blitzing me on long 3rd downs and the days of throwing accurate passes with the pass rush in your face seem to be over and that goes for the CPU too. Now mind you, I would think it's the same in the DAL/NYG demo but there just isn't enough time to notice it IMHO.

Got the full game demo from gamestop.

Can't believe how different it feels. I didn't expect it really. Overall loved it though. The slowed down gameplay actually handled really well. It felt less twitchy than last years. Seen a lot of new animations that looked great. The presentation was great on field. I liked not having to skip cutscenes in order to get to the play call screen because they just flowed right into it after the play ended.

Can't wait till the 14th

I'm not an EA fan buy any stretch of the imagination, but I think their logic is brilliant from a profit point of view. Have people put down 5 dollars, give them a longer demo to notice more of the improvements, a lot of people are swayed and end up buying the game because of this.

I understand what your saying though. I only purchased the 5 quarter demo because I wanted to be able to have more time seeing things I like and disliked and there is huge difference in the 2 just because of the quarter length. It sold me and I don't believe that DAL/NYG blizzard game would have done that.
