NCAA FOOTBALL 10 DEMO AVAILABLE TODAY

Fans Awaiting the Release of NCAA Football 10
Create Over 80,000 Custom Teams via TeamBuilder

June 18, 2009 –Electronic Arts is proud to announce that the demo of NCAA Football 10 is available today for Xbox 360 and PS3. Fans who download the free demo will experience all-new gameplay features including:
  • Defensive Keys—Prior to the snap during the pre-play, hold the left trigger while pressing the analog stick in the direction you think will stop the run. If you think the offense will pass the ball, press upward. Or, you can press the icon associated with a receiver (X, Y, A, B, LB, RB) to spotlight that individual. This will focus the defense on making sure that the chosen offensive player does not make a play.
  • Defensive Player Assist—By holding A (on 360) or X (on PS3) on defense your player will be put under CPU control so you have time to read a play and decide the best course of action.
  • Enhanced Defensive Lineman Moves—With new animations, take control of your defensive linemen using the right stick to fight pass blocks and put pressure on the quarterback.
  • Gameplanning—There are six defensive and five offensive individual game planning options, or you can globally set your offense and defense. Each option changes the way your team will perform. For example, be aggressive and try and strip the ball every time and you run the risk of getting more facemask penalties.
  • Player Lock—Player lock allows you to lock on to a specific player in order to control that position during the play. When you lock on you'll get a whole new camera angle that puts you closer to the action.
  • Set Up Plays—Set up plays allows you to run one play in order to set up another. When picking a play, you will notice that some plays have a chain link between them, which indicates that one play can set up the other. Every time you use one particular play throughout the game, you are setting up for the play that is chain linked to it. Once the play is 100% set up (as shown in your playbook), the defense is at its highest likelihood to fall for that play action.
  • 1000 new animations like throw out of a sack, new shotgun snaps/hand-offs, WR/DB interactions, tackles, double team run blocks, catches, broken tackles, and slipping in bad weather.

I played on Heisman as OU so I could run more my style of offense and lost 7-14... I only had like 2 drives and threw a pick inside the 5 on my first drive. My fault though. So here's my impressions:

they ran the ball for 5 yards with 10 seconds left in the first half, then called timeout with 6 left at their own 35, so still some stupid clock management.

They caught a hail mary to end the half, short of the endzone against a quarters prevent D.

Still too easy to move the ball on offense, and still feels like robo qb is in full effect as tebow made several perfect throws while being hit, and they always threw the ball within about 2 seconds.

Also running game still seems tough as Florida stuffed all my runs, but got zero pass rush on Bradford. I didn't really notice much of a pocket, but I wasn't paying attention to that really.

Tebow was 14-16 for 163 yds and one of the incompletions was an overthrown hail mary (he hit the next one though) and the other was a pass that was caught out of bounds.

Love the player lock.

The defense chant sucks, sounds like they recorded a bunch of girls to yell it.

Blocking still not great on returns or running.

Still had trouble seeing the flats, didn't notice the camera shifting during the play.

They had the lead by 7 and I was out of timeouts with under a minute left, and they didn't kneel it.

Overall, about what I expected. Still felt a lot like 09, but there were some differences. I still don't think I'll buy the game. Maybe used or for ps2, but not new for 360.

I dunno man. Apparently wind socks are more important. I'm very disappointed also.

The only glitched I've noticed is when the cpu gets a first down and go to spike it the clock doesn't start up again and the cpu waits until there is 2 seconds left on the play clock. Even on a fake spike.

The game plays great. Feels a lot more fluid with the new animations, inaccurate throws, QB automatically dives forward on QB sneak (sometimes not so good), etc. But my big problem... still incredibly hard to run at the goal line with the RB.
Me and you makes 2. Anyone else see this?

to get a true impression of the game usually you have to wait till around page 20 and after, then people have had the game long enough to get a couple games in and start to get a feel for the game really is. Now some of the "newness" will wear off and we get down to it.

My impressions after 2 games on Heisman:

-The new gameplay camera will take a minute to get used to, but it seems ok.

-Love the player lock feature. I tried it on both O and D. On D the play really has to be coming at you for this to be effective, imo. On O, I loved being the TB on run plays because I felt that you could read the blocks better.

-DL pressure is an issue for the human vs. the cpu. The cpu was able to get a decent amount of pressure on my QB, especially in crucial situations, which makes me wonder if it cranks up the strategy to aggressive at times. I want to say yes because I was able to draw the cpu DL offsides a few times in obvious rush the passer situations.

-Saw lots of injuries. Love the play him or sit him choice.

-Love being able to throw out of a sack, and the realistic possibility of throwing an int because of it.

-CPU will throw deep. From what I saw, do 10yd pass in a Hail Mary situation this year.

-Chants sound horrible.

-On one play that I used player lock on the TB, I ran a toss and the CPU CB turned around and ran upfield like a lead blocker instead of trying to tackle me. Only saw that once and this is a demo so I'm willing to discard it.

I'll play a few more to see if I notice other things, but so far I'm encouraged. If the roster situation turns out well and they agree to release a patch that solves DL pressure/slider issues, then I'm in.

I have read some good and some bad. Can't wait to get home and try it for myself.

Precision passing is moving the left stick in the direction you want to throw the ball..

what exactly is rocket catch?

what do you mean you did a reverse? they are in the game now or did you pitch it to someone?

-Quite a few bad throws. Good balance for me and CPU.
-User passing feels like you HAVE to have good touch or the ball will sail or too hot to catch.
-CPU DL pressure is great imo. I felt uncomfortable and when I tried to run sideways out of pocket the DE's were there to grab me.
-CPU run game is again hard to judge cause of time.
-Special teams seems fine.
-The CPU QB will throw deep. Nice to see.

also better, the CPU QB has yet to throw a pick for me. I would guess their competion % is probably around 60%, but there is no way to tell as the demo doesn't have a way to see stats, unless it pops up as a stats banner in-game.

I've seen a lot. by me and the CPU. also the new wrap swat also creates incompletions.

tough to say right now, it's seems different than '09(I played '09 yesterday to compare) the lead passing controls seems slightly more sensitive to me.

with a blitz I've been able to get to the QB within reasonable time. better than some of the videos I've seen. from a 4 man rush, it doesn't look that great unless you control a DL/DE.

better, but not sure if by how much. need more playing time. wished the demo had more time per quarter.

on varsity, it's easy. AA/Heisman. not so much for me so far. I would say it's still on the easy side though.

I've had the CPU throw deep on me a few times. already more than '09.
Thanks for answering my questions guys. 8 more hours 'til I'm off work and hopefully the PS3 demo will be ready for me to DL. I can't wait to try for myself. Regardless of how good the demo plays, I will wait for (1) a good set of rosters, (2) to make sure no game killing bugs are found, and (3) more impressions/reviews after the retail game is released because I am very wary that the demo will not play like retail game just like last year... but I know a good demo will get my hopes up again (just a little).

looks like presentation is now the #1 need for a serious upgrade in this series surpassing gameplay no?

I thought this was fixed in the demo. I know it is fixed in the final game. Both the clock rules on first down and the CPU hurry up logic had a bug.

# 197 steelers1 @ 06/18/09 12:31 PM
Played again as Florida and tried to cheese by scrambling around and stuff, and you could definitely still do it, but I wasn't that successful with it (I never really play that way so that's probably why I suck at it, but if the demo is any indication, it will still happen online a lot).

I'm worried about the goal line stuff. OU had it on my 1 yard line, and ran 3 times and I stuffed it each time. Their HB was running full steam ahead on an outside run and was instantly stopped at the goal line by 1 UF defender. There was no momentum. Same thing happened with a run up the gut, and then they did the QB sneak, and Bradford just dove immediately for a loss. He dove automatically, which would be cool, but he never even had a chance of gaining yards. It looked like to make the sneak less effective, they maybe made it useless.

Had this happen to me on a pass play. The CB ran away but eventually got the tackle since I ran into him.

# 199 Flav @ 06/18/09 12:34 PM
Adam how about fixing rocket catch and curl routes.

No presentation definatly needs to be looked at A LOT (refs but we will have them since madden got them) but gameplay over rules all.
